Located in St. Sampsons Square - a historic part of York’s city centre known for selling great meat since the 12th century - The Cut & Craft York is widely considered one of York’s best steak restaurants.

Boasting its own in-house master butcher and a signature 10oz Flat Iron steak, this elegant restaurant is stylishly decorated with historic features throughout. Open daily for lunch and dinner, with brunch and roasts on the weekends, it’s centrally located close to the famous mediaeval York Shambles and under the shadow of York Minster.

Named 'Restaurant of the Year' at the Yorkshire National Business Hero Awards in 2023 and 2024, The Cut & Craft combines contemporary steak and seafood dishes with a premium list of locally-crafted drinks.

Amazing couldn’t have asked for better service and food quality. The food was cooked to perfection. Best possible way to spend your 10 year wedding anniversary.

Had a meal before the theatre, my husband had fish and chips , I had the lamb , it was very tender and delicious. The truffle fries were good. My husband had the champagne baba to follow which he would recommend

Great Restaurant great service but very expensive especially when you order a steak at £38 and it comes with half a tomato everything else chips, side salads and or veg is extra. Any semi decent wine is over £40 per bottle.

We enjoyed the food and wine and service was all that we could hope for Only niggle was that the website makes it clear there is a dress code but there were several examples of it not being enforced- either have it and use it or don’t bother

We had an excellent Sunday Roast experience at Cut and Craft. Food was delicious, service was prompt, every request was met. Manager was circulating and checking on all the tables in our area. Drinks were also very good. Bathrooms were very clean and well maintained. Would highly recommend.

We had the Sunday lunch sharing platter at York and the food was very good. Love the ambience there. Jonathan our waiter was very friendly and attentive. Love the experience and will visit again.

This was our first time here and, as it was a Sunday, we chose the sharing Sunday roadr platter - and it was delicious (and huge!). All the staff were pleasant and cheerful, especially our server, Jonathan.

Cut and craft in York is highly recommended. A little pricey, but well worth it. Would definitely visit again.

Our visit to the cut and craft as an overall experience was fantastic. The food and service was very well measured with friendly staff. Our reservation was on a Friday and the music and atmosphere was perfect! We we re told the Saturday is generally more lively if you’re looking for a slightly different experience. Whilst slightly more on the expensive side, we would totally recommend!

The steak was good but the sides were extremely small for the cost. Definitely not value for money and the upselling became irritating by the third time. If we wanted starters, additional sides or a desert we would have ordered them the first time we were asked!
