The Culver Hotel
Please note, for Tea Service, Parties over eight (8), and Holiday Celebrations, please call to make a reservation.
We loved everything about it! Food and service was great. Will definitely come back.
A real disappointment for me. It was my wife’s Birthday and joined by another couple we came to the hotel for a pre-theatre meal. The steak should have been great except that the chef had so over salted the meat as to make it inedible.
I sent it back and asked for some carrots which arrived way undercooked.
Not to mention the awful traffic. Thank God the play was as good as it was.
Service was slow and inattentive last time, but we love this place.
Food was great and the service was amazing. Our waiter was super attentive and friendly. It was nice listening to the music while dining.
We were celebrating our 40 year anniversary this time. The food was good ( portions a bit small). The trio that played Saturday night were excellent. The waiter was very good. All in all we had a lovely evening as we always enjoy the food, music and overall ambiance.
Recommend on the evening only. Not for brunch . The brunch menu and food quality was average
Love their jazz and ambiance. Perfect for date night or girls night!
Restaurant itself is beautiful and the live jazz was also nice. Drinks are way overpriced. We had a 9pm reservation and right when we ordered the ovens in the kitchen went down and the only thing we could order were the cold items(cheese plate, burrata salad, etc,). What we did eat was very good but we were Very disappointed and we left there hungry. When we tried to order dessert the waiter told us the kitchen had completely closed ....no one told us this prior so it was even more frustrating . We should have been told, especially under the circumstances, that the kitchen was about to close and would we like anything else.....dessert perhaps?
We left disappointed and no one even offered us a cup of coffee/tea, something. I guess an apology would have been nice too. Should give it another chance but the whole experience left us with a bad taste.
Great place for drinks or dinner. Saturday night there was a Jazz Trio that was great. A great place for a date.
This is a quaint spot- lovely for a celebration or event- we had brunch so it was unusually quiet but at night there is live music too- food superb - will definitely go again...
experience is fantastic 80% of the time and thats fine. Last experiencevwe were ignored, not sure why. But the food is great , music great, and i love the sofa areas.
Love going here for a business meal. The food is good and the ambience makes it a great spot for business meetings. Staff are very courteous and helpful.
Patio was beautiful, and food was great. Service was very polite, but not super attentive and kind of slow.
From the moment we entered? I felt transformed into another era. It is a wonderfully restored hotel and restaurant while keeping the integrity of the 1920s ambiance and architecture. Food was delicious and service was superb. We went on a Sunday, so had the added pleasure of jazz !
Hostess seated us but did not inform the waitress. We were seated on a sofa with two end tables to eat off of. We were not given an option for a table. Took 10 minutes to be greeted. Eggs were cold & toast arrived after we had eaten the rest of our breakfast.
We celebrated my son’s 27th birthday here. The restaurant is inside (1st floor) of the Culver Hotel. We chose the outside seating which you cannot go wrong with that. Very neatly decorated, nice ambiance and you feel so relaxed.
Our waiter was so nice! He made sure that we are all okay and he checked on us on what we needed.
We came here for a weekend brunch. The menu is very simple and everything was great.
We liked it here and will definitely come back
The Culver Hotel is EXCELLENT! It’s beautiful inside and out and is full of history. The food and drinks are amazing! This is some of the best food I’ve had anywhere in LA. And our table was blessed with the warmest, most gracious and kind server - Melanie! Overall I would highly recommend dining at the Culver Hotel. You won’t be disappointed!!
We were seated immediately and the server came promptly. The food was exceptionally good, and so was the level of service.
Food was very good but the service was slow, had to request additional water and coffee multiple times and the restaurant was slow (9am) on Sunday.
10 out of 10, would recommend!
I always enjoy the ambiance at the Culver Hotel, whether in the dining room or outside on their lovely patio. On this day our service was very good - though not perfect - the wait staff were very pleasant and happy to please but the service was just a little uneven, as though they were short-handed either on the floor or in the kitchen. Still, the issues were very minor and would not deter me from eating there again. Food was good and presentation pleasing. There is currently a large construction project going on outside their door - not their fault, but makes traffic challenging on that block. They do have valet parking if you can get to the curb by the entrance, and there is a handy parking structure half block away on the street just west of the hotel.
Beautiful space. Showed up for brunch, there were obviously private parties going on which slowed and confused the service in the main room. The staff was very nice but scattered and slow. Was charged a few bucks for the "bread and butter" which was nothing special, just toast, and never told about the surcharge. If I go back it would probably just be for drinks or whatever.
I love the Culver Hotel. The decor, ambience, and the service are fabulous. The outside patio is the cutest. The dinner menu has never disappointed me. The lunch menu, however, didn’t have many choices that thrilled me. But the chocolate mousse was amazing!
Very nice restaurant. They have live music almost every night, I think. It was jazz when we were there. The food was very good, although I take issues with the salad being served on a board. It makes it really hard to eat. Because of the music, it may not be the best place to have a conversation. Good service.
Although this is a historic hotel with a nice dining room, the service is always bad.... consistently for the three years that I have eaten at the Culver Hotel. You always have to flag someone down as no one ever takes the initiative to visit your table. The servers don't even know what the specials are. The food is nothing special. We ordered the fish special, which actually came fried. You would think that the server would tell you that in advance. The management really needs to get their act together.
Very ordinary food at high price. Restaurant with few customers but plenty other people doing with restaurant and making awful noise. Overall atmosphere like in a train station.
Our server was so rude. We asked about the menu and she just replied “i dont know, it should say on the menu!”. afterall, she said she was so busy and she does not work usually at dinner time and the travelzoo voucher is new to her.
Waitstaff not attentive. Limited menu
go here regularly, always enjoy it; truly a special place with a terrific staff.
Good food. Not a lot of gf options though
Service is slow. Entertaining an out-of-town guest so there's just us two. We were there 1130 am not crowded where they sat us in the patio. Our table was wobbly and she said she will have someone put a wedge but had to be reminded towards the end of our meal because she never came back to check on us after she took our order. When I presented her with a Travelzoo voucher she scowled and said that I should have informed her of this in the beginning. Does it matter? Why, will the service be any different worst than what she has been able to do? Is the food served less for Travelzoo vouchers? When I made the reservation I did indicate the voucher. After another 15 min, the manager comes to the table and explains how they can't accept the voucher because it was not during breakfast hours. They do not have their breakfast hours posted or listed on the voucher. I did not make a big deal, since I was with a guest, but I was quite embarrassed. I had planned on bringing back my husband there in the future and trying out their dinner. They lost me as a customer. Not very smart of them. When I walked out I suggested to the manager that they put their breakfast hours on the vouchers and all she said was "You are right".... no apologies. Some establishments will opt to do Travel/Groupon vouchers to entice the public to try them if they are having difficulty attracting new customers. Some do it for quick cash inflow if they are having cashflow issues with hopes that they will not get redeemed. Never going back requested a refund from Travelzoo.
The food was delicious. The service outstanding. Highly recommend.
This is a nice place to go on a date. The music was at the right sound level so you could still hear one another. The food was good but the portion sizes are really small.
I’d recommend staying that you want to be seated at an actual table when you make the reservation. We sat on a couch with a very low coffee table so it was a little awkward if you are planning on eating.
We sat outside and there was a reception going on so there was live music. It was beautiful and very relaxing. When we were walking through the inside however, it was really loud and I would not eat there inside. The outside patio area is wonderful.
We ate outside in beautiful weather for dinner. The service was very attentive. The food was prompt and very tasty
We went for dinner and JAZZ...but the music was Pop music.
I love this place. So elegant and historic. I highly recommended for dinner drinks or to show somebody from out of town a good place to go to!
Great place with even better company
We sat outside and it was a beautiful day. Will return.
Met a friend for drinks and a light dinner. Great location and food. Wonderful service from Parker, our server for the evening.
