   Meal served not as described on menu, we were also told about 8 dishes not available. No one returned to the table to ask why I had left my meal until they cleared all plates. Whitebait starter was not great, the little fish looked very limp and not crispy. Ham and egg and chips were dreadful, cold sliced ham had been left under hotplates whilst cooking everything else, it seemed the ham was luke warm. we asked for soft eggs, they were not soft. If ham egg and chips are £12.95 it has to be excellent. We had previously eaten there and everything was delicious. At that visit we had actually seen fabulous ham egg and chips being served, which made us order them at this visit. I am not sure we will return, we advise that you ring if you can only eat certain things to ensure they are actually on the menu. After discussion with the bar manager [?] i was not charged for my meal.

   We have eaten here a few times, but never had a sunday lunch. Oh what a taste sensation, plenty of veg and gravy, the roast potatoes were just like my nan used to make. We shall be going again. Thoroughly recommend. 👍

   As we walked into the pub we were ‘greeted’ by two very large Alsatian dogs, while they are beautiful they aren’t everyone’s cup of tea. We were told we could sit anywhere in the pub and chose a table close to the bar, it was freezing in the pub and we would have preferred to sit by the fire but all the tables were for two people, we were a party of four. We were given the menus, I must say the food choices were very basic, we were told there was no soup, no pie and something else wasn’t available, not a good start really, we ordered drinks, which ‘luckily’ took ages to arrive. Another group of people came into the pub while we were looking at the menus with two huge dogs which started all four barking, not very relaxing. I am not against dogs in pubs at all. While waiting for the drinks a young man came to take our order…my friend wanted cod and chips….’sorry we can’t do chips, but we can do skinny fries’ I felt very disappointed and decided to stop my drink from arriving, I was the only one without one still and we left, the landlord seemed concerned that we had left because of the dogs….no, it was just about everything else that made us leave. All in all a dreadful evening, will we go back? I very much doubt it.

   Nice to get to a pub after lockdown albeit outside, but a lovely sunny garden at the Crown & wow what a fantastic Sunday Roast, one of the best pub lunches we have had. Will definitely be returning & can highly recommend it
