We had Sunday Lunch here with friends. We have been many times before but not for a while. Unfortunately our experience was not as smooth as before. The food was still good but the overall service has dropped and the prices for both food and wine have gone up. By the time they have automatically added a 12.5% service charge it is pretty expensive when compared to other places nearby. We got off to a bad start when we suggested an initial drink outside and a very unsmiling manager told us that our table had been booked for a certain time and was ready! Not all bad though, the lady who took our orders was lovely and did a good job to try and look after us throughout. However we had some unfortunate instances during the meal that gave you the feeling that they had several new staff who were in training (e.g lamb served instead of beef or gravy having to be ordered several times). Nothing that couldn't be excused but not justifying the aforementioned 12.5%. I hadn't realised Chris Wheeler was no longer with The Crown and perhaps his experience is what is missing. Small things and attention to detail can make a big difference to the service and feel of a restaurant. The Crown will always have massive potential but based on this experience some areas need a little tweak

My first visit in while with a friend,the pub has been decorated beautifully,the ambience was lovely . We ordered Risotto and were very disappointed with size it was like a starter ,and very bland . The service was very slow . Although seating outside was lovely we managed to relax . Very expensive for what we ordered in afraid .

A lovely table in the back room with clever artwork adorning the walls. Service first class. A South American malbec was a really excellent accompaniment to the meal. Cheese plate was very generous, with a tangy truffle cheese well worth a try. Overall a tad expensive to consider it for a weekly visit !

This is a very pretty pub and the food is always spot on, with great service. I work close by and if I lived closer too, this would definitely be my local!

being disabled I always prioritise accessibility. Apart from the entrance step (circumvented by a small ramp - which could be better), the venue was accessible and was easy to use. Staff were very accommodating and friendly. Food was superb (toffee sauce was amazing - compliments to the chef). Only downside was the gravelled parking area which causes me issues as I have drop foot.

First time at the Crown and it did not disappoint . Imaginative menu options nicely cooked and well presented . Pleasant ambience and knowledgeable staff. Will definitely return.
