   Lunch was for the anniversary of my father-in-law who'd died 2 years ago. As usual the restaurant was very busy (always a good sign) so glad we'd pre-booked especially as it coincided with half term. On the down side this meant it was rather noisy and sometimes hard to hear our own conversation. We had a nice table by the fire which made it nice and cozy while we waited for our food. As usual there was a large and varied menu. Following our recent visit for her birthday my mother-in-law ordered the seabass again and wasn't disappointed. Despite the large portion she was able to take advantage of the smaller dessert & a free hot drink option which helped round off a memorable visit for her.

   Excellent in every way. I did have a slight problem with one of the puddings but was well sorted by the excellent staff.

   Food was excellent and a really good choice. I will comment that they have a vegan menu but we only realised this afterwards. Other than that, food, service was excellent

   Well renovated pub with lovely atmosphere. Main course ( sea bass and roast) delicious, sadly starters ( prawn cocktail and falafel) not good... good prices though. And well situated for walks in Ashdown Forest. Very friendly staff and new owner!

   After a few busy weeks of working I took my son to the C&G, never been before, for a Sunday lunch. Our starters were great, but the mains fell very short of our expectations. We both ordered the beef roast with extra beef rib. To receive one slice of substandard beef together with the extra short rib, of which the bone was the most prominent item on our plates was not worth the £14.95! The service however, from server Alicia, was top class.

   I have been to The Crow and Gate many times and am always impressed. On this occasion it was with a beautiful young lady and she was very impressed.

    Great Sunday lunch with family. Pub cozy, friendly and food excellent quality and value. Would definitely recommend and will be back.
