I booked a table here for my birthday as there were good online reviews. I was really disappointed.
Not a great menu and only 1 meal for a vegetarian (me) of Risotto, which I hate.
Offered the starter of Caesar salad instead and 2 of our party had this plus chicken. Portions were not great and croutons were very limited, it really was a giant bowl of lettuce sprinkled with caesar dressing and parmasan. Certainly not acceptable as a meal. My 2 fellow diners had around 4 pieces of chicken in theirs and for the extra £2+ they were charged, this felt very poor. Fourth member of our party had a burger and fries, no side salad just a gherkin on a stick with it - not worth the £15 charged. Brownie as dessert was nice, but that was it. They took off a tea and one dessert from our bill as it was a birthday celebration. but frankly I think they knew how poor it was. The pub was not at all busy but as we left to walk up the town, we noticed many other places were and realised that it was not busy as it was probably not popular. We wished we had booked elsewhere.
This was the 'spur of the moment' decision. The Cross Keys was never on our radar but a review suggested it might be worth a try and it most certainly was.
Great location in the middle of town, lovely cool interior on a hot day, a great idea to have a 'quiet' area at the rear of the dining room.
Food was very, very good and worth every penny, we had the mussels and Caesar salad.
The Cross Keys is now our #1 go-to in Sherborne.

Great, fresh food cooked well. We had a lovely evening - party of 4 adults. Big shout out to the team for thoughtful and timely service. Really couldn’t fault this as a friendly place to eat, drink and relax. Beers and wines were excellent quality too. We will be visiting again.
Always a nice atmosphere with great service. Menu choice not vast but there are usually specials on offer too. They kindly offered us another vegetarian option which was much appreciated. Will visit again soon.
Fabulous courtyard garden, quiet and sunny. Waiting staff very welcoming and accommodating.
Portion size for Venison main dish could be bigger
We love the Cross Keys for their food and excellent customer service. Mo & his team well deserve their recent awards.
Great bacon rolls & yummy croissant. Delicious coffee. Super staff.
I class this as my local !Know the owner and some of the staff.Always a great service and a delight to visit regularly
Really lovely food, beautiful local pub in the heart of Sherborne.
Had dinner here in October and it was really nice so we were really looking forward to trying again as they reopened after lockdown only to be very disappointed. The menu was limited only a choice of 5 main dishes. Had to ask twice for the desert menu. We also would have liked a refill of our drinks but no one came to ask and we could not get a waiters attention.
Made to feel very welcome from the start by a warm, friendly and attentive young lady. The food was delicious and the presentation was to a very high standard. We will definitely return!!!!
We had a lovely lunch and found the staff very accommodating and the food was very good.
Very varied menu. I chose Cornish mussels for a main course and they were delicious. Two others had fish and chips which they enjoyed. We had ice creams for pudding as the sticky toffee pudding was finished. Very helpful and friendly staff and we will go back.
Brilliant atmosphere, delicious local food and brilliant people with top class service
Nothing is too much trouble at The Cross Keys, the staff are so attentive, the food is superb and the atmosphere is relaxing, it’s the place we go for special occasions. We will be back soon.
We ate here last night for mine and my husbands wedding anniversary, the staff were very welcoming and the service was great! The food was delicious, I had the mussels for my main and they were some of the best I’ve had! Would highly recommend the Cross Keys if you’re visiting Sherborne.
Delicious food - good portion sizes - friendly waitresses, nice ambience warm restaurant for a winters evening in mid May eating outside!
Always top notch service and great food! Nice local ciders and local ingredients in the food which is always good. Lucky to have The Cross Keys in Sherborne!
Delicious food. Covid restrictions meant we needed to sit outside on a cold, wet & windy day but we were under a gazebo so we were still able to go ahead with our booking.
The Cross Keys courtyard was a great place for lunch - sheltered from the very windy weather and with the fire burning. The food was excellent from steak to fish and chips and the fantastic sandwich of the day (fish finger). Very COVID secure and excellent service topped off a great lunch.
Great set up, lovely atmosphere. Staff friendly and helpful and the food was great.
Lovely menu with locally sourced produce. Mussels were fantastic! Mo and his team were fantastic
We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at the Cross Keys . The waiting staff were so helpful and considerate.
Our lunch was Haddock and Chips simple but and cooked to perfection! We will certainly be returning.
The outside space was neat and cosy . They provided blankets if you needed them .
Well done to them all working on Thursday April 29th .
All four of us thought the food was excellent. Limited choice , understandably given current circumstances. Staff were lovely. And ambience fine given it was outside and a tad chilly. We will be back.
Sat in the lovely, private, covered terrace at the back of the pub. Excellent service and the food was really good, including perfectly cooked fish and chips.
Delicious meal in a lovely outdoor setting. Very friendly staff. So much fun to be out again!
Great burger and fries. Lovely beers on offer too.
Great service and drinks throughout. Very enjoyable.
Excellent customer service from Kirsty & Alec
Delicious food and fantastic service. My first post lockdown pint and it was chilled to perfection. We’re already thinking about going back again this week!
Great pub I'm lucky to call my local. So nice to have them open again! Especially recommend the lager and the burger. The staff are all brilliant, thank you Mo and team
Really good food and outstanding service . Will be pleased to recommend .
