   I have eaten at The Cross a number of times in the past for family Sunday Lunch and on those occasions found the meals to be of good standard. Unfortunately it would appear that the management has changed and the food quality has gone down dramatically. The cost is similar to other reasonable eating establishments but the quality of the food is not. I do not like leaving a negative review but I am afraid on this occasion I have no choice.

   I booked online on a Monday,for lunch for three, the following Sunday.The staff were very friendly and the service very good.However,we were most disappointed to be shown to a table in the bar,which was very noisy, rather than the dining room.It would have been helpful,if when I received the confirmation email,I'd been told we would be eating in the bar,in which case I would have cancelled the booking.When I mentioned to our waitress that we were expecting to be in the dining room ,she said we would have been better making a 'phone booking,so that we could specify eating in the dining room. The lamb was rather tough,but there was a good selection of nicely cooked vegetables.However, everything was just piled onto the plate,rather than the veg. being served in separate dishes, - which was the case the last time I ate in the dining room.It didn't look very appetising. We would all have had desert,but it was so noisy and lacking any ambience,that we left as soon as we'd finished eating.

   Lovely little country pub in the heart of Alyburton. Very busy with both at the bar and restaurant, good atmosphere. Service initially was pretty good, however we waited for over an hour before our mains arrived, condiments a little scarce even when requested. Staff very pleasant but I think it may have been a bit busy for them to cope efficiently, especially as they had a live band playing too.
