The Crest Gastropub - Clintonville
We grow as much food as possible in our carefully-designed raised beds and rooftop gardens. Food that is picked to eat tastes so much better than food that is picked to ship, so we take our ability to grow very seriously. The Crest Garden allows us to create a dish that is delicious, nutritionally dense, and environmentally thoughtful.
What we can’t grow in our garden, we try to source from our strong Ohio farmer network. The love our local farmers and growers pour into their products is the highlight of our dishes.

Brunch at the Crest is always a treat when we visit our son in C-bus.
We had a lovely experience here. Service was great, food and drinks were excellent, atmosphere comfortable. We picked the outside table, our waitress was very accommodating with my food questions because I am sensitive to a few things she asked Chef for recommendations. The gin martini was Devine!
Fabulous Saturday brunch with an amazing Eggs Benedict - get it over the walleye cake. Hollandaise was delicious, eggs were perfect. The most fun was the mimosa flight - what a great idea! We got there a little early and spent time checking out the beautiful raised bed gardens - just a wonderful setting. I usually go to the Crest on Parsons but I think Indianola is my new fave. In fact, we are going back for their Gardens 2 Glass event on August 8th. I love their sensibility and their vibe. And the FOOD!
Great variety of items. Goat cheese balls were a hit. Fish & Chips was a great plate of food.
We sat outside on a weekday evening and enjoyed a relaxed date night dinner. The cocktails were outstanding. The waiter helpful and knowledgeable. The food was fresh and yummy. We loved trying some new things. After dinner we “toured” the gardens. Recommend!
The food was not great. I got the duck fingers. It came with deep fried onions which were inedible. In fact all the breading had an odd taste. Perhaps they were dipping everything in the same batter and frying everything in the same oil.
Interesting, delicious food. Lots of veggie options.
Interesting food, all very good. Great Happy Hour deals.
The Menu is quite small with a heavy lean towards sweet dishes or sauces. Do not go here if you are on a Paleo diet. The waitress was very accommodating and the drinks were good. For a casual meal, it was fine. The new decor is a bit of a hodge-podge; I miss the copper top bar!
Fantastic food at a reasonable price in a great setting. This was my first visit to The Crest but it won't be my last.
The food was uniquely and wonderfully tasty. The service - top notch!
Delicious food, excellent service!
We ate out in the evening in the patio and were really impressed with the menu and food, and the ambiance was perfect and the server professional and attentive.
Service was great. Appetizer board was delicious as was the risotto. Fish and chips were good although fries weren’t crisp and tartar sauce had a bitterness that made it inedible
The food was awesome, which we expected since we’ve been here before. The service was great, also no surprise. We selected this restaurant because we like it, and we were not disappointed!
Great food and service!
our server was great and the manager, Tyler, was so nice as well!!
The food was fabulous and the drinks so refreshing out in the patio. I love that the patio is completely covered with an awning to protect patrons from the blazing sun. It was a scorcher today but lovely to still be able to eat outside in the shade. I also loved seeing people with their dogs. That adds such a friendly and laid back vibe.
The mimosa flights were great but that's about it. Our table got Falafel and waffles, falafel and waffles with BBQ duck, and eggs and pepper sandwich. It's exciting to see more experimental mixes, but the only thing that tasted okay was the eggs and peppers. The BBQ sauce on the duck was sweet and overpowering and the meat was dry and tough. +4 dollars for 1/4 cup of this was disappointing. The greens on the waffles were difficult to chew and very bitter. I write this all more to remind myself to avoid these dishes, not to bash the place. The service was good, and I will likely return to try something different.
Lovely ambiance and great service; the corned beef hash and Mediterranean lemonade were both delicious.
Beautiful night outside. Luckily we were seated on the covered patio. It probably would have been too hot on the uncovered area. Sterling was an excellent server with good recommendations. As a non-drinker I appreciated their selection of mocktails and non-alcoholic beverages. My husband said he was served a great Manhattan. I had a tasty Ruben with their hummus salad instead of fries. My husband had the half chicken; which was served on an interesting and delicious bean combo. We skipped dessert, but there appeared to be some good choices. Quaint, quiet neighborhood location that we really enjoyed.
Great happy hour deals and interesting cocktail options. Charcuterie board was pretty good but needed more salty/savory items on the board.
Wonderful attentive service; great artisanal cocktails
We went here for brunch. It was fantastic. We sat on the covered patio on a beautiful day. Our server took great care of us, and gave us great advice about what to order. The mimosas were wonderful. We stayed much longer than we expected. Never felt pressured to leave. And the mimosas kept flowing. We even asked to be moved out to a table in the sunshine when it became available, and we were graciously accommodated. We will be back!
Had the fish and chips (walleye). Hoping for white flakey fish, but got lots of dark fishy tasting, mushier dark meat in mine. Had chess pie for dessert. Only part that was good was the small portion of crushed pistachio brittle. Couldn't cut the crust with a fork, barely with a knife and lots of pressure. Pie itself had little flavor. I've had lots of chess pie elsewhere (mostly homemade), and this version was worthless as a pie. This pie gets an F. Disappointing visit. Other visits were much better. Should have stuck with the burger.
Excellent food and cocktails. Friendly and helpful staff.
Happy hour was great value and delicious food!! Can’t wait to go back
Excellent food and drink menu. Well worth the price.
Great service and the food was amazing! This is one of my favorites in Columbus.
We chose to go because they have vegan options listed on the menu (my guest is vegan) - they had no options available (even though the menu they gave us said they did.. and what they could modify still wasn’t vegan. I’ve ordered salads here before.. asked if that was an option, they won’t let you order off the regular menu until after 4 on the weekend.. very disappointing. We left and went to another restaurant. The waitress was nice, she felt bad (wasn’t her fault).
Seems like a nice place. The service was good and the food was enjoyable. Our appetizer "Chef's Board' was a mediocre experience. The fish and chips were good. The creme pie cookie dessert was too dense for my liking and the creme filling, in my opinion, was lacking in flavor. While the meal wasn't a bust, there wasn't anything that will cause me to go back anytime soon.
The food here feels very experimental in nature, they're always putting new things on there and trying different combinations. But, it worked, and I thought my meal was excellent. Some other things aren't as vast as they use to be (beer selection for example), but there is still something for everyone.
Sourdough bread was a special treat - 76 year old starter! The garlic sauce gave it a tangy bite and our salad tasted garden fresh. The soup tasted homemade and the burger was the best we had all summer. Very juicy! Our server was knowledgeable and super nice. We loved our table on the patio between ferns at sunset. Would definitely go again!

Definitely snag a table out on the covered patio. Hip, well-run atmosphere with a campus community vibe.

Holy GUACAMOLE! I am so proud of the transformation that The Crest has undergone. The renovations are beautiful, I am absolutely digging the hip hop playlist supporting our black communitIes and the new food/cocktail menus are 10/10. It feels like a younger take on the old soul community gathering place that was The Crestview Tavern. Dani, Georgia, Nelly, Lance, Colin, Eleanor and Lillian were absolutely flawless in service and I couldn't have asked for more.
We ordered the goat cheese, marinated tomatoes, grilled and chilled salad, mezze board, and koussa. Everything was phenomenal and I'm so glad to have quality vegan and vegetarian options on the menu that are thoughtful of other diets.
If you have been to the old Crest, wash that picture in your mind and revisit. I'm positive that it will rock your world.
Thank you so much for the detailed review, Savannah! We hope to see you in again soon!

I’d go back for the Spanish Gin and Tonic alone! Lovely evening on the patio, with good food, service, and drinks.

Came to the crest on their first day back open and was not disappointed. Servers are always so nice and attentive, food and drinks were great.
