   The Wagyu Spinalis is by far the best steak I’ve ever had. Excellent service from John (and compliments to the mustache). We dined on the 2nd floor and loved the open, airy ambiance. This was our second time at Cowford and it certainly won’t be our last.

   It was a chaotic experience, from making the reservation to being told that the kitchen closes at 9:45, and they allowed us to make the reservation for 9:30, but we had to rush from seating to ordering food.

    Beautiful restaurant and nice wide tables with lots of space. Food very good. However, as soon as our appetizer was finished, the main course was delivered. This is not how we like to dine. If you go there, be sure to tell them not to put in entree until appetizer is done. Then a drunken man, from a male table of three, deiced to join the two younger females at table next to us and said "fxxxen sxxt" about 50 times. I finally complained to manager and she volunteered to move us. I said absolutely not, but rather tell the other two men to take their drunken buddy back to their table and take him home. They did leave and manager paid for our $90 wine. Would go back, but would expect a better experience.

    My husband, son and I had dinner at Cowford to celebrate our son's birthday. Once again, we had an outstanding experience in every way. We were seated on the second floor by the window as requested (we had early reservations on a Thursday) and brought two bottles of wine from our cellar (corkage fee is $30 per bottle). My husband and son selected the smoked salmon dip for an appetizer while I chose the French onion soup. My husband and I ordered the 8 oz filet for our entree while our son had the 12 oz filet. We shared seasoned fries and the vegetable of the evening (carrots with ginger and herbs). Our son was given a complimentary dessert (chocolate stout cake) while my husband picked the trio of ice creams and I had a decaf cappuccino. The food was delicious and Jim provided professional and pleasant service throughout. Everything was top notch from start to finish. Highly recommended.

    Amazing, top shelf experience! Consummate, incredibly attentive service. Had an array of superior appetizers to start things off - can't say enough about the bacon, the duckfat cornbread, the roasted oysters (with pimento), and the corn crab bisque. Good gosh they were over-the-top good! My wife and I split a wonderful 8 oz filet with au poivre sauce along with a side of what has to be the most thoughtfully prepared risotto - with mushrooms, shave asparagus accents! Along with an impressively diverse wine list, this meal was 4.0. Cowford always seems to be upping their game with each visit (and we've been a few times over the past few years).     My wife and I wanted to try Cowford Chophouse last year for our anniversary but didn't realize we should have scheduled the reservation several weeks in advance so we did that this year. We were contacted prior to our reservation time that there might be a delay in the delivery of our food due to issues in the kitchen and they offered to make a new reservation for me. We decided to take a chance and kept the reservation. We were seated quickly and our waiter arrived promptly. when I asked him to direct most of his speaking to my wife so she could read his lips while listening he did that immediately. He took our drink orders and offered us a complimentary champagne for our anniversary. He answered all our questions about the food and did a nice job of explaining the different sauces. Our waiter did a good job of checking in at reasonable intervals to ensure everything was to our satisfaction. Overall both my wife and I loved our meals. She had 8 oz filet mignon and I had the bone in ribeye. Everyhting was cooked perfectly. She had the cheesecake for dessert and I had a blueberry cinnamon bun dessert that was also fantastic. The only downside is the fact that the lighting was so low that we had a hard time reading the menus so we had to break out the flashlights on our cell phones to read them. I think that problem is that we are getting older so our vision is going. Please DO Not let that stop you from going there. Overall we plan on going again at another anniversary in the future.

    My girlfriend and I decided to see what all the rave was about at cowford chophouse for my birthday. Must say we enjoyed our dining experience there. Excellent atmosphere. Food was phenomenal and service was just as good. Jem our waiter was great. Classy restaurant for sure. Will definitely be back.

    The food was exceptional. I had the steak frites and my mom had the pork chop with whipped mash potatoes. Everything was cooked perfectly.We were celebrating my mom’s birthday and everyone from the host to our server made my mom feel special. She was given a birthday card and free dessert.

    Our special occasion (54th wedding anniversary) was acknowledged by all the staff at Cowford’s including a champagne cocktail to start our dinner. Our server, Jon was particularly attentive and helpful in our making menu choices. Cowford’s continues to be our choice for special occasions!

    I had a 10-minute wait past my reservation time so I took the elevator to the rooftop bar. I'd recommend a trip up there for a cocktail even if you don't have to wait for your reservation.

    Nice place for fine dining. Service was first rate. Rooftop bar was an entertaining stop before dinner. The food was good and nicely prepared. Most everything on the menu was quite expensive, but the quality was excellent. With that said, there was room for improvement. Steak was raw for a medium rare order, but since the meat was first rate, it was acceptable, but not as requested. They offer espresso & cupaciccno, but neither is an authentic espresso. Service bar was slow, so a glass of wine ordered before dinner did not arrive until the middle/end of the meal. At 6:30pm, they were already sold out of a dessert item. It was for these little reasons we were a bit disappointed and would reconsider coming back. Compared to most restaurants available in Jax or St. Augustine, Cowford Chophouse is a way above the rest, but for the price it should be much closer to perfect.

    My husband and I always enjoy dining at Cowford Chophouse. We decided it would be the perfect place to celebrate our son & future daughter-in-law's graduation from UNF and it did not disappoint. Our server was very personable and attentive. My son said it was the best steak he had ever eaten, and dinner was enjoyed by all.

    We decided on this restaurant for our date night. Every one we encountered starting with valet were very professional and accommodating. Our waiter was knowledgeable of the menu and gave us great recommendations for our meal and drink selections.     Really enjoyed this restaurant. Food was incredible and fairly priced. Service in the restaurant as well as the valet was top tier. Only complaint is the lack of gluten free accommodations, the bread and butter looked amazing but they don’t offer a gluten free option. Also only one of the desserts is gluten free.

    We had a 5:15 reservation on a Tuesday night and we waited OVER an hour and fifteen minutes for our food to come out. My halibut was hot, but my companion's salmon was cold. I called and left a message before arriving requesting rooftop seating and even mentioned my reservation was at 5:15 and received a call back at 7:45 that evening. When I asked for a manager, I was advised they were unable. I expressed our discontent with our dinner and was told a manager would call me later that evening. It never happened.

    Food was perfect, Well done from the Kitchen. But our waiter and hostess staff needs work. Seamed like we didn't get the same service attention as others in the restaurant that our waiter was also service at the same time as us. I ran out of Sweet Tea to drink 3 times, had to ask other staff as they walked by to get something to drink. My wife wanted a Old Fashion drink, But they would not make it the way it's traditional serviced. They added a sweetener of orange instead of fresh orange peel. They couldn't be bothered to make it the right way. Other tables had fresh hot napkins service to wipe your hands after appetizers and dinner. Not us. Your table napkin was all you get. After dinner on the 2nd story level, My wife went to restroom and to the downstairs bar to order 1 more drink & to see the restaurants views. She walked up to the empty seat at the bar to order a drink, She know more gets there & the hostess lady walks over to her whiles she waiting on the drink she ordered and was told that the bar is for reservation only. My wife told her she was just waiting on her drink she ordered. She then told my wife that the bar upstairs is first come first service. So after she gets the bar drink & pays him, She was walking around looking at some of the interior of the restaurant, sipping her drink & waiting on me at the front door area to have payed our bill from up stairs and hit the restroom and come down stairs to me her at the door area. When, you guessed it. here comes hostess lady telling my wife she cant be standing in the area of the front door. Of course my wife has had just about enough of her. If our waiter would be more attentive of us, I would have been downstairs much sooner.

    My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful anniversary dinner here. Everything was run professionally and with a personal touch. The hostess gave us a lovely table by a window on the second floor, where it was a bit quieter and the A/C less intense. Our dinners got off to a great start with very large and tasty salads (Caesar and house), followed by a perfectly cooked, seasoned and juicy 40oz Porterhouse which we shared. Our main server (can’t remember name but he was British) was knowledgeable, very personable and helpful with choices. He and his colleagues acted as a team, so service was seamless. We spent just one night in Jacksonville but if we were locals we’d become regulars at this great steak spot.
