This restaurant is overrated. I have been here four times. The first time I thought the food was good, but it was the absolute worst table. Every time thereafter, the table improved, but the food got worse. This last time, which will be the last time, we sat at the bar. The bar is probably the best place to sit. The appetizer we ordered was okay, but the entree was a sloppy, oily mess.
Son in from New York. He’s used to big city prices, but $70 for a rib eye? Ridiculous. Server never said how much this ‘special ‘ would be ...
All the food was absolutely delicious!!!
We had a reservation but the hostess left us standing up front while she bused tables. Secondly she sat another couple prior to seating my party of 2 even though they arrived after.
Our server was fantastic. Brianna (Bri for short) was very pleasant and attentive. Would go back again!!
I booked dinner for 6 for a special birthday. We were warmly greeted by the hostess and escorted to our booth.
Our waitress was Esther and she was excellent. She told us about the special items and based on her description of the specials we all selected the same dish and it truly was very good. The ambience in the restaurant was very good. We all really enjoyed the evening and we will definitely be back.
Second time eating there. Great menu and wine selection. Love the ambiance and vibe. Service both visits was excellent. Adding to my frequent place to eat list.
Oh man. Good food: they make a salad with melons and arugula and red pepper which is wonderful, and their jemini drink is divine. But the service was very frustrating; worse, the servers seemed pretty clueless about the frustration they were causing. There were lots of mistakes with our order, and people in our party received their entrees arrived over an hour apart from one another, which is really shocking. And makes for a very awkward dinner.
Food was excellent! Waiter was okay. Took our cards and disappeared for 30 minutes. Good knowledge about gluten free options. Love the ambiance.
LOVE it here!! Food and service are fabulous and it’s the perfect hot spot for weekend brunch!
Had a great Melon and Feta salad, amazing! Beautiful design, great atmosphere! Will return!
Fabulous service. Manager is a jewel. Great meal.
Relaxing ambience, healthy food options well prepared.
Great food and service in a casual setting.
Finally had the opportunity to try out this hip and happening restaurant before heading into Phoenix Saturday night for a concert. Why take chances waiting at a likely overcrowded downtown location when a perfectly good- if not better - option is right in the corner of Shea & Tatum? The interior is smaller than I thought it would be due a large center bar and open kitchen so reservations strongly recommended. The ambiance was lively but not loud, menu selections somewhat limited but all four diners in my party thoroughly enjoyed our varied choices. Server was lovely, service prompt. Will definitely be back!
might be a great bar for happy hour but food was was average and service was poor especially at front desk
The Covenant is fairly new and is down the street from me. I wanted to take my husband there for date night. We arrived about 20 mins early and the place was packed and were told we’d have a table closer to our reservation time. We decided to have a drink a the bar while we waited. It took a solid 10 mins for a bartender to even make eye contact with us and take our drink order. I get it though, they were really busy. We went to the hostess stand at our reservation time and she looked frantic and apologized that there were still no tables available and we’d have to wait. By this time, it was 8:15 and we were starving. 30 mins later, we finally got a table. I believe the manager took our order. Our food came out quickly and was very good. However, it took quite awhile to get service back to our table to get the check. We would have stayed for dessert but who knows how long it would have taken and we were tired at that point. It was really noisy, packed to the brim with people, slow service, good food, decent prices, and a cool ambiance. It’ll be awhile before we go back. Hopefully they’ll have service handled better next time.
Great spot, atmosphere, wine list, and menu. One of my favorites in paradise valley.
We were in Phoenix for a month and looking for a last minute dinner spot and we were surprised we could get in at 6:00 on short notice. Thinking that it was easy to get in because the food was bad-we we’re pleasantly surprised. I had the plank salmon which was excellent and my husband had the short ribs with risotto and he thought us was great as well. Our friends enjoyed their meals as well. We would definitely recommend this to others.
First time visitor. Plenty of menu options. Would definitely go back without hesitation
Not the first time we have had bad service. Food is very good and consistent, but waitress was so terrible that we will not be in any rush to go back. Others that I know in the area have had similar comments.
Our waitress was awesome and we will come back again.
The food and service were fine with nice ambiance. The price point however is pretty high given there was nothing extraordinary about the food, drinks or ambiance. Nothing to complain about but also nothing compelling to make us choose Covenant over many other options.
Everything about this restaurant is awesome. Food, service and ambiance is just perfect. Love going here to eat with friends and family. One of my new favorites for sure.
Stopped in for lunch on a Thursday. Greeted well at the front door and seated immediately. The restaurant has several seating options, including seating with a open air window. The location has premium spirits and brands. The menu choices are unique and presented well
We love the Covenant but food quality varies. The octopus was rubbery. Salmon and veggies were amazing. Short Rib was fine but won’t order it again. Drinks and service are always great
Dinner at The Covenant was excellent. My wife and I both had the Sea Bass and it was delicious! Our service was good, the atmosphere was fun, and we truly enjoyed the experience!
It was a great brunch. The food was amazing - great taste, presentation, and servings. Th chef brought our appetizer & I could be seen directing the open kitchen. Our server Maggie was great.
It was super hot inside the restaurant and service was poor
It was good but you didn’t have a bottle of wine that was on your menu (which is part of why the birthday guy chose there) and didn’t have his choice of bourbon that was on the menu also. Service was fair...server didn’t come around often enough.
Appetizers and drinks were tasty, though the entrees were only fair; truffled mashed potatoes tasted of having been frozen, pan sauce for the chicken seemed to be drippings diluted in broth, and the braised short ribs inside of the ravioli were strongly overpowered by a wonderful pesto. The menu reads beautifully and we hope to try again in the future.
The food was excellent, everyone at the table finished every single bite and wasn’t overstuffed or hoping for more. The service was exceptional, they make you feel more like a friend than a customer in the best way.
Excellent meal and service! Thank you!
Had the poke tuna app and scallops for dinner. One of the most beautifully prepared dishes ever and amazing taste. I was blown away. I will go every time I go to Phoenix.
Great Service for our group of six. Gabbe was, as usual, friendly, prompt and professional. The food was well crafted and paired well with the beverages. My only recommendation would be to make wine suggestions to pair with the meals.
Disappointing & would not go back. We had reservations for Monday night. The bar was busy but the dining room was not. Menu was very interesting & we were looking forward to having a special meal. Our waitress, Gabby, was training another server. When we asked her to explain the menu in more detail she did not have much information to share. And she relayed all this while leaning on our table with her elbows! My husband ordered the Feta & Melon salad which never showed up. Our water glasses were only refilled upon request. He ordered the duck special only to be told 10 mins. later they were out – and it was only 6:30! We noticed there was one woman constantly on her phone texting & showing other employees pictures. We were seated by the open kitchen and I will say, they were the hardest working people in the place. I did notice when food was ready to be taken out to a table, the kitchen would attempt to flag the wait staff down but were constantly unsuccessful in getting their attention. Hence, food sat under the warmer for an extended period of time. It would be advisable to have the wait staff to wear their hair tied back. Gabby’s hair flowed over the food when she retrieved and delivered it. Gross. My husband ended up ordering the Chef's Cheddar Mac which he enjoyed with a glass of red wine. He was never asked if he would like another glass of wine. My seabass was very flavorful but not sure it was worth $36. After dinner, my husband ordered a port and we split a dessert. Ten minutes later, the texting woman – only to find out she was the manager (Fran) - came over to apologize for being out of the port he ordered. We told her about the lack of salad and she said she’d make sure it wasn’t on our bill. Well, of course if it was on our bill we would have pointed it out! The tiny waffle w/vanilla bean ice cream & berries was average at best as the waffle was hard & chewy. Definitely not worth $12. I sure hope the trainee doesn't pick up any of Gabby's bad habits!
Had a group of 12 women go for a Galentines Day brunch this past weekend at Covenant. They were kind enough to accommodate a reservation number change at the last minute and our server was truly EXCELLENT. The food was great and everyone had a wonderful time. One of my friends had her car hit and run in the parking lot and staff was super helpful and even comped her meal. I will definitely be back to this establishment!
Nothing especially terrific about The Covenant. The ambience is faux sheik. The cocktail and beer list was short & the food was average. Might be a better choice for lunch.
We had a fantastic dinner at The Covenant. I had the sea bass special and she had the short rib ravioli. Both fantastic. Great Old Fashions too
