I had a business lunch at Courthouse 2021. Service and food were very good. Try the lobster bisque. It’s fantastic. It was a good place for a business lunch because it wasn’t too noisy. I highly recommend Courthouse 2021!
Very poor service. Significantly understaffed. Food quality has declined. Menu in OpenTable does not match their current menu, therefore was very disappointed.
My husband and I went to Courthouse 2021 to celebrate a belated anniversary. We started with the Brussels sprouts and a wedge salad (both very tasty). Our mains were 10 ounce prime rib and lamb shank with risotto with truffle fries and creamed spinach for sides plus bearnaise sauce. All very, very tasty and tender meat. Generous portions! We finished with the chocolate studded bread pudding with was creamy and perfect (dust a tiny bit of salt on it to enhance it). One of the big positives is they have a couple different mock tails which is great for us non drinkers. Service was simply wonderful.
The was the worse food experience ever.
The service was so bad, everyone around was complaining about the time it takes to get an attention, get the dishes. 40 minutes for the first course (simple green salad, which was with garlic although I mentioned several times that I’m allergic to garlic ), then the main course ( filet mignon) was really bad so that you can’t chew it. Me and my colleague couldn’t eat it. There were two options for dessert on the special valentine deal. One of them wasn’t available. They changed 100 dollars for each for the worst food experience.
Please make sure others won’t do the same mistake!!!
Upon arriving we were told there was only a set menu. I have a special diet that made it so I wouldn’t have been able to eat most of the things on their menu. I was willing to just go ahead and make the best of it but after waiting over five minutes for even a glass of water or somebody from the staff to approach our table, my husband and I decided to leave. The restaurant was pretty empty. Normally this restaurant is very good but they had some issues on Valentine’s Day.
We arrived on time, and the restaurant turned us away on Valentines Day evening because they said some employees did not show and the kitchen could not keep up with orders. On one of busiest nights, we had to walk around Redwood City to beg for a table at a restaurant. Horrible.
Had reservations for Valentines day and got notified upon arrival that they ran out of food and/or didn't have enough servers. Saw several other groups turned away as well. Heads up notice would have been appreciated. Will not be attempting to eat here again.
The restaurant cancelled our reservation when we got there because they were short staffed at the kitchen. They have been turning around people for a while. It was Valentine’s Day and it was a horrible experience as where do you find a restaurant open on Valentine’s Day at 7:30pm on a Friday with an open reservation??? They should have told us when they found out, not when we got there. It was clear that it didn’t happen then.
Made reservation for Valentines Day. Showed up on time just to be told that we could not be seated and served because of some problems with staff and chef asked for no more new patrons. No heads up, no notification, nothing. Needless to say, pretty disappointed given that it was our meal on Valentine's Day!
Non existent. We showed up on time (driving 15+ miles in the bay area) and was immediately told they would not be able to sit us due to shortage of staff. We did not receive any cancellation notification. We even had one of their customers walk up to us and state"I've been waiting over an hour for a salad and still haven't received it". As bad as I felt for them, a timely cancellation notice would have been nice as not only traffic was bad BUT it was dinner for Valentine's day. What a disappointment.
They cancelled our reservation and didnt even call us to let us know!!
This review is based solely on Valentine’s Day. We’ve eaten here a few times before on special occasions and had great experiences. Unfortunately, the staff seemed quite overwhelmed on this busy night. We had the intention of getting cocktails, then ordering wine for dinner and dessert, but drinks came out so late we were done with our first and second course before we even got our wine. Honestly, the food was still great, but it was still our least favorite experience here thus far. Worst part is that it was also our more expensive visit. Gratuity was an automatic 20% and it was just shy of $300 for two. We have had much better meals here for half the price. I don’t think Courthouse 2021 can handle a busy night.
They did not honor our reservation on Valentine’s Day! They turned away countless reservations. Apparently their kitchen staff walked out. Worse, they did not release our reservation so we could make another one. Once I realized this, I tried to call to ask them to release the reservation as Open Table would not let me cancel it but they would not even answer the phone! I’m sure they will be out of business soon!
We came for valentines day, a known busy day. The restaurant was clearly understaffed leading to long wait times between ordering or food as well as confusion. We never received a wine we ordered, were asked about dessert twice, were brought the wrong first course, had to reorder drinks, never got water or bread and had to ask for the check twice. I believe everyone was trying.m their best but it felt like a disjointed routine. When we did get food it was pretty good! Probably won’t be back.
Slow, forgetful, inept, unapologetic. I’m thinking last night was their last one in business. It was a bald faced rip off. Service and good were the worst I’ve ever experienced. They even had the cajones to add in their own tip. These guys are crooks.
Worst dining experience we’ve ever had
Awful - went for Valentine’s Day only to get RIPPED OFF! Do not go, save the money!
This was a very disappointing evening. We spent 2 hours here this evening. We understood that they were short-staffed and so had some compassion for the staff, but even so, the service and food quality were both deeply disappointing. After waiting over an hour for our entrees, mine arrived cold and there was barely enough to cover the plate. No one checked in on us in the meantime, so I never got a glass of wine with dinner. Our desserts were the wrong ones, and our check took quite a long time to get in the first place and then took quite a while to be processed.
It was for Valentine’s Day dinner. It was a set menu of 3 courses for $79 per person plus a mandatory 20% gratuity. For that price I expect a better menu and service. For the first course you have a choice of clam chowder or cold beet soup or salad. Second course there’s seafood risotto (shrimp, scallops and lobster) or roasted chicken or prime rib or Filet mignon. I ordered the seafood risotto. There were 3 or 4 scallops and shrimps and I was wondering where’s the lobster. I couldn’t find the lobster meat but just some red slender pieces (maybe the legs and little claws). My husband had the filet mignon and it comes with mashed potato and a few diced carrots. For dessert we had the tiramisu and a chocolate molten cake.
There were not enough servers for a full house and I noticed people waiting for putting their order in. For us, it took a while before we got our check.
Came here because I was with a party of 6 and there weren't many places that would fit us on a Friday night last minute. When we arrived, the restaurant was pretty empty. The 2 stars is for our waiter, an older gentleman that was very nice.
The restaurant was BRIGHT. The lights were turned all the way up and for a steakhouse it was odd - wrong ambience. It was also pretty cold inside and the place smelled like cigars.
3 ppl ordered steaks which were not amazing but decent. My husband ordered the fried chicken board and the chicken was so salty and dry. I ordered the scallops with pea risotto. The scallops were the worst I ever tasted. It was chewy and very fishy - it tasted old. Ugh overall it was so horrible. Not somewhere I'll be visiting again.
I had a business lunch here Jan. 15. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The lobster bisque was outstanding. I try the lobster bisque anytime I see it on a menu and am often disappointed. Courthouse 2021 has amazing lobster bisque. Overall a great experience!
The food was OK. The service was OK. But for the price we were paying I would have expected a lot more. Wouldn't go again.
Food looked great but tasted terrible. I had the whole fish - it looked amazing but was so salty and greasy. Plus, the potatoes were cold - and I don't even mean lukewarm or room temperature - they were actually really cold! On the plus side, the mushroom flatbread was delicious, and it's great to eat somewhere quiet.
Our food was excellent. The menu offered a wide variety of interesting choices. Nice ambience, good acoustics. Will go back!
Strange that every restaurant around was totally booked while this place was empty
Okay place to get drinks. Food is too expensive for the quality/value. I ordered Filet Mignon medium and it came out well-done. Service was average. I wouldn't go back to have a meal.
It was a rainy night, so there were not a lot of customers. We were extremely well treated and enjoyed out evening. We will be back!
Food was average and a bit pricey. Wine menu had well chosen wines but the mark up was high, in some cases 3 times retail
Cesar salad was below average
Baked chicken was very well prepared
Food was excellent. Wait staff was working hard but under staffed.
this is priced like steak house - everything a la carte and the filet was good, generous portion. overall very pricey though - they were also out of many wines and menu items which was weird for a Saturday night.
Great food and service.
The server understood Celiac and the kitchen was very careful. I did not get sick.
We had shrimp appetizer and I had the salmon entree. Very flavorful.
None of menu items married GF but staff is knowledgeable and helped me eat safely. Thank you!
Excellent food and service. Steaks cooked to perfection with delicious sauces and side dishes.
Place pretty empty on a street of rather full restaurants. Not sure what the menu is trying to do— just a bunch of random items.
The food is always a great experience even when we order the same every time. Is a nice clean place and aside from private groups it seems that is never busy which is an advantage for us.
Everyone enjoyed their meal. I will definitely come back and recommend.
Excellent meal and service tonight!
It was wonderful, will dine there again!
We were celebrating two personal events and we had a great time. Great staff, good food.
Nicole, the manager was especially friendly and attentive. Our waiter Kim was amazing. We definitely will go back. The drinks are highly unusual and very funny.
