This was our second visit of the weekend, as we’d enjoyed the first meal so much. The food and service did not disappoint- the rump of lamb took me back to the flavour of lamb of my youth. I haven’t tasted lamb that good in many a year and all the other meals served were equally good. When we arrived, we were seated in a reserved area as we’d booked a table. It was adjacent to a large screen tv on the wall, which was turned on, but muted. No one in the dining area was watching it, so it seemed pointless it being switched on & felt like it would have been more appropriately placed in the open bar area, rather than this cosy dining area. There was also a speaker just behind our table with music playing so loudly, we couldn’t chat over our meal. We asked if the music could be turned down and it was actually turned off, but about 10 minutes later, it was turned back on again. This, and the distraction of the tv during our meal, were the only things that spoilt an otherwise pleasurable experience.

We made an online booking at the last minute having arrived in the evening for a long weekend stay nearby. We arrived at the pub to find that the kitchen actually closed at the time the app had let us make our booking 9 pm, but as we had booked, they agreed to honour it and reopened the kitchen just for us. What a delightful pub this is! The special offer 2 courses for £17 menu was so full of delicious sounding dishes that it was hard to choose which to have. The food arrived promptly, perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. The staff could not have been more welcoming and friendly and the ambiance in the pub was lovely. We would definitely recommend The Countryman Inn.

Food was only fair and over priced for what we got. Overall a pleasant evening meal wouldn't go again for mid week meal but saying that been to there carvery and it was fantastic had that on the Wednesday
