We have been to Winterthur before, but this was the first time for afternoon tea. What was surprising to us was the complete lack of ambience in the tea room. Winterthur has such a great collection of early American art work, dishes and furniture, you would have thought, that whomever setup this tea room would have decorated it more appropriately. From the porch furniture, plain dishes and tea pots to the fact that the kitchen/prep area was actually in the tea room itself. Very disappointing.

For $45 a person it is not worth it! The tea was good, nothing special or out of the ordinary. The finger sandwiches must have been made the week before, for they where on stale bread and dried out toppings. The “ complementary “ champagne did not go well with the Tap Water!! Over all we were not impressed and very disappointed in the cost for this high tea.

A nice quiet setting. Beautiful china. Friendly staff. The tea sandwiches were extremely small but tasty. A bit pricey for what was served.

A lovely accompaniment to the “Costuming The Crown” exhibit. Our server Ethel was amazing!

Shuttles run every 5-6 minutes from the Visitor Pavilion, which makes Tea a lovely treat when visiting the Museum. I took 3 guests to receive 10% discount on our bill, but the server could not accept a credit card from each guest to pay their share. Women seldom carry large amounts of cash, so I paid the bill for everyone.

The service by Ethel was outstanding. The tea was not over-the-top exceptional. The usual scones, etc so for $45 I don't think it was worth it even if the complimentary glass of champagne. I think $30 to $35 would more appropriate. All in all I would recommend it because it was fun and enjoyable.

I enjoyed the High Tea on Saturday's visit. I do hope the chef could incorporate some gluten free options to the plate. But in general all was very delicious. The cost was a bit of set off, but you only celebrate a birthday once a year, if lucky.

Elegant surroundings and exceptional food. A beautiful way to pamper yourself - or your gal-pals.

The Cottage Tea Room was delightful and the food and service was good. My concern was with the reservation. It should be made clear that the reservation is only a "reservation" and does not include paying for the meal. I was under the impression that it was automatically charged to my credit card. There was a misunderstanding that threw a damper on the occasion.

I've never had "afternoon tea" before, and I'm glad my first time was here. Wow, what a great experience! The ambiance was quiet and peaceful, and exactly what you'd expect for afternoon tea. The tea selection was good, and I liked be able to smell each one before deciding. The food was perfect (the scones were my favorite) and I liked that there was a variety to try, instead of picking just one thing to eat. The champagne was a nice touch as well. To top it off the service couldn't have been better. This is seriously worth it for anyone who goes to Winterthur!

My group took advantage of the special offering for staff and volunteers. That price was very reasonable. I did see several other guests there enjoying the experience immensely. I think that people will book the tea a part of their experience at Winterthur. Everyone loves to be pampered and served.

A very nice experience! The service was very good, with a friendly server. We liked the tea and the selection was nice. Delicious tea sandwiches and a nice selection. The scones, curds and desserts were outstanding. Will definitely return.
