The Cork 1794
Great food and atmosphere. Bar staff are knowledgeable and fast.
Second time here. Appetizers are huge, salad was delicious. Husband has had osso bucco and pork chop and I have had steak and duck and all were so flavorful and well prepared. Desserts are just ok, but I’m a dessert snob. Mocktails are always good. Our server Trey, both times, was very attentive and friendly. Will be back.
Love the Cork! Great venue, staff and food. Started off at bar where Mike made us a couple expertly mixed cocktails. Our server Jenna was friendly and helpful. Food was great as usual. Thanks!
Plenty of parking, nice curb appeal, pleasant decor.
My only complaint is that my entree was not very warm. It was close to room temperature when it was brought to our table.
Excellent food, excellent service, excellent atmosphere! Great time!
We had a great night out at The Cork!
Our server Taylor was fabulous!!!
I like the interior of the place. It's upscale but relaxed and casual. The acoustics aren't so great. It's noisy and that makes it difficult to carry on a conversation. One of my dining companions suggested that the place was noisy enough without the live entertainment. The food was good as was the service. I had the organic Norwegian salmon on a bed of black rice mixed with corn. The salmon had a nice texture and a mild taste - just the way I like. The rice was delicious. The other 3 members of my dining party were all pleased with their meals as well.
This was the second time I've dined at the Cork and it was another pleasant experience. I'll definitely be going back and I would recommend that anyone interested in a fine dining experience give it a try.
Wonderful, food, service, ambiance, all great!
Very nice. A gem in the Erie Restaurant community.
The staff needs a little more training on the food being offered. Example: forbidden black rice. Why is it called Forbidden? Server had NO idea. Black rice has been revered in China since ancient times for its health-promoting properties. It was once such a valued food that black rice was *forbidden* on the tables of all but royalty and the very wealthy — hence the nickname.
These little bits of information are educational, conversation and gives the staff credibility.
Sound. Voices carry. Sound boomerangs. Something needs to be done acoustically to take the sharp edge of the sound away from the customers. Example: hanging art work made of cloth, card board or foam would absorb high pitch, sharp frequencies and make the restaurant feel(sound damping) cozy.
Food preparation and presentation was very nice. Tempo of service and frequency from the server was amply, but not over powering. Staff was very, very pleasant. Ice cream was excellent. Tuna Tartar was the best(with the Black Rice). The weak link is your coffee. Bitter and weak on flavor. Good coffee needs no additives. I needed over 4 packets of sugar to drink this colored water. The server said it was obtained from a coffee house in Edinboro. I know of no roasting operation in Edinboro. I am assuming that your supplier is a distributor and not a producer of roasted coffee. I am a French immigrant and have been around local roasting operations, where you can smell the coffee a half a block away. Personally, I would recommend that you give Millcreek coffee a try. Roasted here, in Erie. Beans are low acidity. Fresh. I purchase Bali Blue Moon.
The experience was very enjoyable. I will be back for the food, but not the current coffee.
Overall very nice . Small thing but Apple crisp was cold and they made us feel like we were overreacting . I think that could have been handled much better , maybe get a new one And not charged for it ?
This would be why I would rate this a four and not a five .
Celebrating my birthday. Kacey H, our waitress, was attentive and pleasant! Oysters were delicious and the entrees were also good. Overall a great experience.
Our entire experience was outstanding. We highly recommend this restaurant.
We were there on Friday night celebrating my best friend’s birthday. Everything was absolutely perfect, except for the noise level. It was difficult to hear across the table, but manageable. The Cork 1794 definitely helps make Erie, PA shine! Would highly recommend to others.
What a treasure!!!! The service, the ambiance, THE FOOD was phenomenal.
Average food quality/taste for those price ranges-nothing stood out as “incredible taste experience ”, Like we would gain from other high-end restaurants with similar pricing. We had overpriced steaks, and an Ossobucco boar serving that came out with more bone than meat-dessert of the day was sold out. We tried skunk and goat with same results, so a pass on these restaurants-ERIE needs better foodie experiences, and we miss Pie in the Sky!
We enjoyed our meal and because it wasn't busy we were able to enjoy a nice conversation with our friends.
It was my wife’s Birthday and it was our 1st experience! My 1st time using open table to make the reservation and everything was smooth! The staff at the Cork were very welcoming from the time we walked in and were greeted by the hostess too our waitress who served us. The manager even came out to ask us and the entire restaurant how everything was going. They had live acoustic musicians sing but it was very nice and soft. Very welcoming from the outside in
Our service was great, the live music was phenomenal. Some of the food came out cold but they fixed it right away. I got a free slice of the most amazing chocolate cake for my birthday with a flare for a candle. We had a great time!
So so. Took a long time to get food and some items marked as gluten free on menu were not actually gluten free.
Way too loud ! Was loud until music arrived and then got really really loud.
Dessert was hard chocolate cake cookie sandwich with tasteless ice cream in between. Frozen solid. Told it was peanut butter ice cream, no way.
Entree was two small dry crab cakes on a ton of hard peas and corn. Couldn’t even see the squash something on bottom.
Rolls were hard.
Excellent cheese board but had two pieces of burned toast and great steak soup(should be an entree.
No baked potatoes no mashed potatoes no cappuccino.
Over priced. Soup was terrible. I will not be back
The food was just ok not superb. The worst is that the salads are absolutely huge and $11. Perhaps the waitress should say "oh are salads are very large, perhaps one salad and you could split." Also the tables are too close and its too loud. Not really interested in hearing our neighbors conversations.
The reception staff (the two girls at the front door) were too kind and nice, I asked them to prepare a birthday song and bring my flowers and they were so kind. The food didn’t taste good though and the prices were too high for no thing
The food was very good after it arrived. We had a 7:30 reservation and did not get served till after 9:00. The server was apologetic and was aware that the kitchen was behind. The reason we have them a 2 on value was that they charged 16.00 for scotch on the rocks and then 2.00 for the ice! I thought I was in new york or las vegas. The waiter took off the $2.00 after we gave him a hard time. Wine prices were quite high too. The noise level continues to be a problem. Nice place to go but we won't rush back.
The drinks are WAY overpriced for the quantity you get, so save your money for the main meal. The dinners are delicious, and well portioned. I had the salmon and the balance of savory and sweet with the corn was on point. I would go and get that meal again. I also do not recommend the desserts given the thought that had gone into the dinners. You would expect the desserts to be just as spectacular and multidimensional, but my hot apple cobber tasted like something that was microwaved. Sorry, but true. I also did not care for the live music, I know my friends did enjoy the live music. I just thought it made it too loud to hear my companions and have a good conversation.
Creative dishes served by pleasant staff. Like the hand crafted cocktail selection.
Very enjoyable restaurant. Great atmosphere and upbeat staff.
Bloody Mary so spicy, hardly drinkable. Salmon lukewarm despite sending it back. Noise level too high. No joy in staring at ugly brown cork board.
Thank you for taking the time to review your experience. We are sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your time with us at The Cork 1794. We will be sure to address the issues that you pointed out with both our beverage and culinary team. In regards to the noise level, a few months ago we had acousticians install ceiling panels to assist with the noise. However, we will pass your feedback onto our management team. We hope you will give us another try in the future for a better experience.
I had ordered the duck which I thought would be a duck breast. I received a duck? drum stick and 3 slices of duck meat which was pretty good after slicing a piece off the drum stick I was not able to slice any more meat from the drumstick because it was so tough the steak knife would not cut it. The waiter offered to take it back but I was not willing to was any longer. I should have asked for my money back. this is not the kind of dining for Erie.
We went for lunch & as always it was a great experience. The food was delicious. I ordered a Poke Bowl with tuna, which is out of the norm for me, & I really enjoyed it!! Service was also great
Great place, service was a bit on the slow side. Food and drink was excellent
My daughter fell in love with her burger - said it was the best one she has ever had. I would drive the two hours for a special occasion. Great place!!!
Absolutely loved our first meal there. The floor plan has areas with varied ambiance without feeling boxy or closed in. There was a pianist and vocalist in the bar area performing at the perfect volume. It was beautiful but not over-powering. The outdoor area is divine with the gas fireplaces, comfortable seating, and TVs. Had the filet which melted in my mouth. Knowledgeable staff regarding food preferences and wines. Felt as if I were in a big city fine dining restaurant but attire is casual.
Celebrated a friend’s birthday. Our served greeted us with complimentary champagne. 🥂The meal was mouth watering delicious. The server brought out the cake with a sparkler in it. Truly one of the most memorable birthdays my friend has ever experienced at a restaurant! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Tammy general manager was outstanding
I always enjoy going to The Cork. The food is consistently great & the service is perfect. I always see a manager checking on guests. They also have a really good happy hour that is worth a visit.
First time visiting the Cork. We heard that the restaurant with open seating could be rather noisy and you could be sitting right next to other diners with the seating layout. We decided to go on Tuesday figuring it would be less busy. We were celebrating our 29th anniversary so when making the reservation online in the special request/section I made note of that and asked for a quiet table off the beaten path. The hostess sat us in the open dining area but the restaurant was not busy so it wasn’t an issue but could see where it could be noisy and you could possibly be sitting very close to other diners because of the set up of the restaurant, not intimate. When our server Kenneth B. came to our table he said I saw your request and he immediately moved us to the private stag room. He took exceptional care of us and we had a awesome intimate dining experience great food, great service with complementary desserts for our anniversary and the bar manager even made us special complementary after dinner drinks, it was the best dining experience we’ve ever had!Kenneth even gave us a tour of the outside seating area and restaurant. We will definitely be back! Yes it is pricey for Erie but our meals were exceptional.
I will give The Cork another try. Was very disappointed in an appetizer. The server was wonderful. Always noisier than I wish. I was there three times previously. Food experience those times was good except for warm oysters. I was so excited about this place the first time there . Hope it can become more consistent.
