Very over priced for the amount of food you get...and the cocktails were over priced also...
We went there for a girl’s weekend and literally everything was wonderful!
Dinners and breakfasts at Copper Mug were were very good and reasonably priced.
Great food in a comfortable atmosphere. We look forward to our next visit.
Fantastic food and drink!
Lovely and unique surroundings!
The food was surprisingly good, as was the very nice wait staff. The restaurant was very clean, however the decor/ atmosphere was bland, uninviting. Some booths would be a great addition, and more subdued lighting.
We were there for breakfast. The quiche of the day was terrible. My husband ordered it and said it was the worst quiche he ever had. I had the eggs/sausage/potato/toast and that was very good
Very nice! A little loud, but otherwise wonderful!
The property was pretty for a Fall stroll. We ate inside via reservation. Tables were socially distanced. Fresh linen table cloths were replaced at tables between parties. You can't sit at the bar for a drink if you arrive early, so you have to wait outside. We both had seafood entrees which were excellent.
It wasn’t busy during our visit, however the server was forgetful, along with my salad was served then 10 mins later the chicken that was supposed to be in it finally showed up.
Good food. Service very slow. Nice patio outdoor dining .
We stayed at Landolls Castle and made dinner reservations for the Copper Mug. The dinner was adequate. I had the short ribs, good flavor and tender. My husband had fish and chips and said only they were "ok." After asking our server about breakfast the following day and being told the pancakes were terrific, we returned for breakfast. They were the worst pancakes, doughy on the inside and overly done on the outside. The bacon we ordered was tasteless cardboard.
We were seated in the dining area with a wedding reception going on and was a little upset cause the party was not wearing masks when they were not eating!!!
Food was incredible, best bread and blueberry jam!!! If we lived closer we would definitely go back
We were very happy with the service , The building and area is lovely inside and out. A very pleasurable experience for my 62 birthday, my husband surprised me with the reservation. I ordered the salmon and my husband had the steak, we both thoroughly enjoyed our meals.
We had a late lunch on Sunday , the braised short ribs open faced sandwich was excellent.
My wife and I travel frequently and look for those exceptional locations for great dining. The Mug was one of those places in a great location in Ohio. We decided to visit since it tooted a “Gordon Ramsey high end menu”. Not that GR pulls any weight with us, he is more of an entertainer then an iron chef. We arrived about noon with the idea that we would be eating outside with our open table patio reservation. The tables were wet from an early morning sprinkle and nothing was ready or available for us. The idea of eating outside was the whole point of going to this location, not to mention staying safe from the COVID-19 indoor disease transmission problem. This was a huge failure on their part. We sat inside which had a cafeteria feel, extremely disappointed. Either way we were hoping to have a great meal. The lunch menu was limited but looked good. I chose the steak burger and my wife had the opened faced short rib sandwich. The burger came on a brioche bun which included steak fries. The short rib sandwich was essentially mash potatoes on toast with shredded beef. To say the least, my wife was very disappointed. My burger had some kind of unrecognizable flavor and cheese. It was to have jalapeño and chipotle cheese. They must of ground it up and put it in the burger because the ingredients weren’t visibly identifiable. For the price, $45.00 , it fell extremely short! I would call this a diner in the woods that had a wannabe chef who no doubt lost on one of Gordon Ramsey’s goofy kitchen shows. I wish I would have taken pictures of the place and food and no one would waste their time going here. Cheers and good travels my friends!
So unfortunate that this is the only dining option near Landoll’s Castle. Given the extraordinary setting and beautiful ambiance of the castle and grounds, one would hope for a similar dining experience. Complete disappointment! The ambiance is sorely lacking- the dining area is basically a brightly lit open room with cheap tables, amateur decorating, and zero atmosphere. If this weren’t sad enough, the food is definitely sub standard. There is clearly no chef in the kitchen, just an assembly of line cooks churning out mediocre poor quality food. And to add insult to injury, we had reservations and arrived promptly 5 minutes early where we were completely ignored for 15 minutes. We were finally shown to our table by a thoroughly harassed and distracted server who didn’t even say 3 words to us. She just plunked down our menus and walked away. We sat there for 30 MINUTES before someone came to even offer us a glass of water. (And they only came over because I got up to complain). In the meantime I noticed that every single person who came in after us was waited on first. VERY POORLY TRAINED STAFF. The manger of this restaurant should be fired. If someone had just brought us water, bread, and took our drink order, I wouldn’t have blinked and eye to wait 30 minutes. And speaking of drinks, I ordered the castle mule and it was finally brought to the table as I was almost finished with my entree. Completely disgraceful. If I am paying $400 a night to stay in the castle, I would expect a higher level of service for my dining experience. This a a MANAGEMENT problem. It was clear the servers had very little training and were completely overwhelmed. I went back for breakfast the next morning (not very excited about it but had no other option). The service was much better but my quiche was grossly overheated and tasted like cardboard. If you choose to dine here I would greatly lower your expectations. It is truly worth the short drive to town to get a decent meal
Great food, great service all around! Definitely recommend.
When we arrived we let the hostess know we had reservations and she reluctantly sat us to our table. In the beginning the service was going well but as the night went on we hardly ever saw our waitress. She gave us our entrees and after that we never saw her for almost 20 minutes. At that point my boyfriend went to get a to-go box and our check. We wanted dessert that night but since we were never waited on after we received our entrees we decided to pay our tab and leave. The food was good but did not reflect the price in the service as well as how drab the dining area looked. We will not recommend it to anyone and will not return unfortunately.
We booked a table here for our anniversary after spending a few nights in the cottage on property. I had the blackened salmon, it was fabulous, asparagus was crisp and cooked perfectly! Husband had meatballs and linguini and was very happy with his meal, he's a picky eater so that is saying something. They even gave us a free desert for our anniversary! I left there feeling so happy and full! Definitely will be back! Thanks for the great service Austin !
We went on a Tuesday night and showed up before our reservation time. Austin got us seated right away and was extremely attentive. He made our mixed drinks himself and they were delicious and brought out quickly. The stuffed mushrooms and fish and chips were very good and the wait time was short. My wife loved her French onion soup. Austin came back through frequently to check on us as did other wait staff. We never had an empty glass. They even brought us complimentary dessert for our anniversary. We were very satisfied with our experience and plan to return.
Very personal, hospitable service & outstanding meal!
We got our food togo, but overall the service was good and the atmosphere was beautiful . Good gormet food and drinks that is way over priced.
Twinkle lights add to the lovely and quiet ambiance whether you dine inside or outside. The Boursin stuffed mushrooms were so fabulous we ordered them on both evenings we stayed. Also recommend the short rib & Florentine entrees! Tacquitos tasted fine, but could be an appetizer versus an entree. Staff was attentive and very friendly.
The food was excellent, the server did make a minor mistake with my wife’s meal. She made it up to us by not charging us for a few items. Overall the services was really great, we even went back for breakfast the next day. The drinks are fantastic, the only thing is there was some atv noise while eating. Not a deal breaker at all.
This was our third time and it never disappoints. The food is phenominal. Our waiter JJ was excellent. Wish we lived closer! Love sitting outside.
( covid version) Some beautiful exterior settings as we were greeted on our short walk from the parking lot. As we walked into the restaurant however, a stern hostess told us to wait outside!
Then servers going back and forth through the front door carrying food and drinks to the outside patrons.
She finally got to us, and took us over to the wooden patio that surrounded this faux log cabin. Our table consisted of a light metal patio set, which was wobbly, as we fussed, like everyone else, to level it with folded paper( or covid face mask).
Menus were online, through a bar code, which is quite silly for old folks or someone without a phone. But the drinks and food were surprisingly pretty good. Our server, Jessica was also quite pleasant and efficient, but faced with running back and forth, must take its toll on her after a while. ( I made sure that she got a 25% tip)
I dont think that we’ll be back, as there are many other fine venues near this town.
Very nice fish and chips were very good and nice and crunchy no greasy feel to them hush puppies were great also. We ate outside. Wife had their seasonal martini Apple cider Caramel with Ohio Maple Syrup on the rim her the bees loved it.
we had to tell our waitress 4 times to fix our bill. We ate and drank over 300 worth of food and she had almost none of the items on our bill. im sure the owners would not be pleased
Easy to make reservation and asked / received outdoor seating. A destination for weddings and getaways recently added 14 more rooms and expanding outdoor patio allows for more observation of the nearby grounds. Food and service very good everyone was COVID compliant. Salmon and short ribs w mash potato’s were the two entrees (excellent) love to order a side of French fries, great sauce. A destination for sure that will take a while to get there and recognizing all the factors - food, location, service, laid back professionals, all great.
Great food in a secluded forest. 3rd and not the last time we will enjoy this venue located in the Mohican Forest.
My husband and I went to the Copper Mug for lunch, for our anniversary. The appetizer was very good but the meal was not. We appreciated the restaurant comping a dessert for our anniversary, a delicious white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake which redeemed the visit. While our waitress was very nice she wasn't very good. (too long of a wait for everything, had to ask a couple times for water... in a restaurant that was more than half empty). Probably will not go back.
Great meal and atmosphere. Only criticism from our table of 5 was that the meatballs were not the best. All other food from steak to fancy grilled cheese was amazing! Drinks too.
So nice to have quality food and a non-chain restaurant to enjoy.
Very friendly, service was great, and the food was great.
We had the opportunity to try Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner at the Copper Mug. Food was great. Very accommodating to my wife's dietary restrictions. My Creole dinner special was spicy HOT but delicious. Great burger for lunch. And very generous with the pancakes at breakfast. Our server went above and beyond to correct a simple breakfast mistake. Dining outdoors on a weekday in September was wonderful. Weather was gorgeous, very few other people, but the bees were a little too friendly.
Over priced and not very tasty.
The food was fantastic. We had the short ribs, steak and fish and chips. We each had dessert, including the chocolate cake, tiramisu and pumpkin crumble. None of us were disappointed!
Perch was burnt and dried out, drinks not right, poor service, asked for extra dressing never got it or extra sour cream
