We arrived a tad late for our reservation due to poor directions. The staff could not have been more apologetic and nicer. We were one of just a few customers towards the end of the evening and never felt rushed. Great food, great service, we will definitely be back!
The service was great , the food could have been better for the price , 80 dollar meal plus tip , was not worth the money, my half chicken ended up being a half cornish hen
This restaurant is tucked away in the hills and is so romantic and quaint. All our food was delicious, staff was friendly and attentive, ambience was very nice.
My husband and I stayed for our 18th anniversary and loved it. The food was great as was the service. The Castle is so pretty and quiet, it was beautiful. We'll most likely stay again.
We were celebrating our 25th anniversary wanted to do something different. We had a great time , the food was great as was the waitress, a little pricey for the area but will likely make this a yearly event
We met friends here for a special lunch. There were 8 tables with diners and only one waitress. It took 2 hours to receive our lunch; all service was very slow! One other table of 6 people celebrating a retirement received salads but never received the dressing.
The food was good but the poor service spoiled the experience.
Everything was great, the wild boar was dilicious, risotto a little dry, greens deliciuos! My husband has the walleye and he said it too was delicious.
Our waiter was amazing and the food selection was fantastic. The drinks were great and the dessert selection left us wanting to save room.
They claimed not to be aware of and did not honor a confirmed reservation for lunch made through open table because they were attending to wedding guests that stayed longer than expected. There was no outreach to us to cancel our reservation or notify us or anyone via their website that they would not be open to the public or leading their regularly scheduled daily tour of the castle. We were there to celebrate our anniversary and had driven an hour to get there and also wanted to tour the castle because we were considering the venue for a group trip. That won't be happening now.
Had both dinner and then lunch the following day here while staying at the Castle. Loved the food, the salmon and the flat iron steak sandwiches were great! Filet was good but the bacon wrap was a little fatty. The atmosphere is awesome, the servers were very friendly, just a little slow.
Nice place, average expensive food, great waitress
The food was good, not fantastic. The dinner menu is way overpriced, but the location was it's saving grace. That said, we opted for other options off property for breakfast, lunch and dinner on day two.
Great place for honeymoon or anniversary or special occasion
Will never eat here again. I ordered the Delmonico steak, medium-well. What I was served was a freezer burned tough brick that was white. There was very little seasoning on it other than pepper, and it wasn't even able to be browned or seared due to how freezer burned it was. I tried two bites, it was very tough and just gross - inedible.
The Asparagus was like a soggy noodle rolled in seasoning and oil - inedible.
The "loaded" baked potato was dry and flavorless - had no butter, no cheese, just a potato that tasted like it had been in an oven for five hours or more.
My husband ordered the Boar Shank - he liked his meal, said it was done properly with a decent taste. He tried mine and told me to send it all back.
We both ordered a cocktail - those were quite good, but not worth $10 a piece.
We had to ask for water to go with our meal because we weren't offered anything else or even told what else was available other than the alcoholic beverages on the drink menu.
We got the Artichoke Spinach Dip as an appetizer - it was very runny, like soup, but had a decent flavor.
Also got a cup of French Onion Soup to try - there was a brick of solid cheese on top (not edible, couldn't even cut it up with my spoon to eat it with my soup), the soup itself was like a salt lick- inedible.
We came here for our 14th wedding anniversary expecting an amazing meal with a lovely atmosphere. We were very disappointed and felt like it was a complete waste of our time and money. For 2 entrees, 2 appetizers, and 2 drinks, we spent $124. NOT WORTH IT. This meal wasn't even worth $50.
This is not a fine dining experience - when you can show up in jeans and a t-shirt, you should probably just stick to burgers, if you can figure out how to cook them properly.
When you first walk in, you are greeted, but then the servers leave and wander around while you stand there. I did not see a host/hostess at all. They were not busy - there were 14 other guests there, and 6 of those came after us.
Enjoyed a lovely dinner. Had outside seating a a lovely evening
Food and service was good. Great weather added to a pleasant outdoor evening. Disappointed that a venue of this calibre did NOT have Sunday Wine license. Beer only.
My husband and I ate here to celebrate our anniversary while staying at Landolls castle and it was delicious!! We loved our server , the atmosphere, our Moscow Mules and our food!!
The food tasted good. A little slow on prep. 45 min after order placed. Only eight customers there seats maybe sixty. Both items served just warm. The potatoes were marginal beef short ribs and chicken breast were our entree. Chicken was hot. Service staff really nice.
Price a little high. What is odd is that the hotel doesn’t even indicate if they have actual breakfast for sale. Not terrible but not great.
My wife and I had dinner at the Copper Mug to celebrate our anniversary during our stay at the Mohican Castle. The food was delicious and the various mixed drinks were particularly creative and good-tasting. My wife has serious celiac disease and we appreciated the attentiveness of the server and chef to her dietary restrictions. They were able to make most entrees on the menu in gluten-free form and everything was delicious. The atmosphere is casual and there is good outdoor seating available overlooking the grounds. I would recommend having at least one meal here if you are in the area.
Enjoyed a relaxing lunch. Food was excellent. Service a little slow, considering only a few tables seated. But server friendly and helpful. Grounds beautiful--wish there was a view from the restaurant. Would definitely return.
The food and service were great. But no atmosphere
Only downside was the service. Server wasn't pleased that we wanted to switch tables because that meant she was inconvenienced in having to clean the table from previous diners.
The food and service was amazing! Best food we have had in a long time.
Was wonderful to share campus and breakfast with friends for 48 years. Was there first visit. Our 3rd visit.
I had the walleye and my wife had the steak salad. Both were very good. He also shared a brownie sundae. The restaurant appeared to be short on staff, but our waiter did a very good job. The restaurant was chilly and some what uncomfortable for my wife. That would be the only negative.
Had a great experience. Food was delicious. I plan to visit again in the fall.
The Copper Mug is a great addition to Landoll’s Castle. We ate dinner & breakfast there and both meals were delicious! The staff is energetic & friendly and has great recommendations about the area. The outdoor seating is beautiful!
Great experience for a special occasion. Both our meals with unique and delicious.
Good wine and great views on the patio.
The food here was excellent and we received a free dessert for our anniversary dinner. The "dessert" menu was a plate of cake slices and an ice cream sundae - brilliant idea! Gluten free options for everything. Excellent bread and salads. The spinach and artichoke was delicious and unlike any other I've had. Our drinks were made to order and fresh. Blueberry jam served with both rolls and morning toast. We will be coming back if we are in the area!
Over priced, not many selections on menu and food wasn't very good. Hotel was awesome though
Steak was very fatty and has no flavor. All you could taste was the gravy placed on top. App was over priced but tasty.
Anniversary dinner. Beautiful senery in the Mohican State Park area. All the food was excellent.
Excellent food and very attentive wait staff. We had dinner and breakfast the following morning and were impressed by both meals. We will definitely be back!
The food was good, but the prices were far too steep for the serving sizes and what was being served.
Great walleye and root vegetables
The tuxedo cake was amazing!!!
We truly enjoyed our romantic dinner for 2 this past weekend at Copper Mug and Grille during our stay at Landoll’s Castle. Everything was delicious. The only thing I forgot to take in consideration when I made our reservations was the fact it was a Sunday and we were unable to order Moscow mules, but that was out of their control since they do not have a Sunday liquor license.
We all enjoyed ourselves and the food was very good. Our waiter said it was only his 3 third day working and he did a nice job . However, I would recommen he learn the menu a little better but overall it was very enjoyable.
Capped off a great day. Picked blueberries a few miles away. My date and I are fans of Chef Ramsey. Our goal this summer is to eat at restaurants which have food that is prepared by a chef and not a cook. Family owned and operated. Where else can you dine at a castle.
It was the worst meal I’ve had at a restaurant since November of 2016. I had the Gnocchi. It wasn’t cooked and was essentially blobs of dough(picture included). Service was slow. Parts of the same course came out at different times. We spent what seemed like 5-10 minutes just waiting after finishing each course and all that cost almost $100.
I won’t go there again. Don’t do it. You’ll regret it.
Very peaceful and beautiful setting nestled in the heart of Mohican. Food was very good and drinks were tasty! We would definitely come back for a special occasion to dine.
