The castle grounds decorated for Christmas and the food at Copper Mug was excellent enough to return. The only disappointment was that due to the busy time of year we were not seated in the restaurant, but in the banquet center which did not have the cozy ambiance we were looking forward to enjoying. Also was not aware that they did not have a Sunday liquor license.
I made a reservation at this restaurant since we were planning on visiting the Castle to see the Christmas lights. The food was excellent, and we were blown away by the desserts! But for the price the ambiance was not what I had expected. I had checked out the menu before hand, and expected it to be a more intimate setting. The community table feel was a bit of a downer. But the drinks were good, the service was great! If we are ever at the Castle again we would consider dining here.
The atmosphere was pleasant, however, was not impressed with the food. We ordered the spinach appetizer and whatever sauce was used was very bland. No seasoning; it tasted like flour and milk. We also had the lobster ravioli and again, whatever the white sauce they had was very bland, no seasoning. However, one of us had ordered the T-bone steak and it was very good. I could not recommend the restaurant from our experience. The employees were all great.
I was very disappointed with this restaurant. While staying at the beautiful Landoll's Mohican Castle I was hoping for a top notch restaurant, as it seemed like it would be according to the website. The ambiance was horrible, the entire room lit up. I thought I was at a spaghetti dinner fundraiser. Although the tables were neat with nice settings, we were taken to a table that still needed cleaned off (the place wasn't even half full, there were plenty of other tables to choose from). I ordered spinach artichoke dip, and it came back luke warm and seemed like it came right out of a jar bought at Walmart (for $11). I ordered a chicken dinner which was okay, I didn't really have any complaints but I probably wouldn't order it again. My wife's steak just seemed like something marinated to make up for a bad cut, and her baked potato was terrible.
We didn't complain about anything. As long as the food is cooked, I usually won't complain. But I will say our waitress was as nice as can be. She stopped by often to see if we needed anything and was very pleasant.
Overall, I could have gotten the same dinner at a chain restaurant for much cheaper and it would have tasted better. I was very disappointed.
We were disappointed, the food wasn’t great. The staff was very nice. I thought the atmosphere was blah. I was expecting something a little better with the restaurant atmosphere since it is at a castle. We thought it was a little overpriced
Just wish that for the price of the food you got a little more than the portions that were given. Also maybe have a wider selection of dinner options as food items.
The food was amazing, the service excellent, and the atmosphere quiet and perfect for conversation. The setting is absolutely stunning, especially when the castle is covered in Christmas lights. I absolutely recommend this restaurant and will definitely be returning.
This is a lovely setting on the grounds of Landoll’s Mohican Castle. The food is very good although the menu is limited. The service was excellent but there were hardly any other patrons the weeknight evening we were there. There needs to be better signage to find the building, especially in the dark.
Food was great!
Very loud and voices bouncing around...
Could add acoustic foam or sound-proofing insulation to the walls or fix sound-proofing tiles to the ceiling to help
We stayed at the Castle two nights and ate in this restaurant the first night. The food was ok, service a bit slow, staff friendly enough. Bartender served good drinks. Not a bad evening
The ambiance was lovely with the holiday decor. However, when we were directed to a table, I was backed up against the hostess station. Also, I had to switch chairs as mine was wobbly as was our table. For the money, I would have expected near perfection.
Despite that, the service was wonderful. The food was served very quickly and was delicious. The chocolate cake was a wonderful late-night snack!
Fabulous staff and great service!! Food was good too!! Overall, a fun and great evening!
My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner for two. Our steaks were perfection as was the service. The entire Langols Castle Christmas light experience topped off the night, as we strolled for an after dinner walk and enjoyed the sites. Magical evening!
This was our second time coming to see the Christmas lights and having dinner for a special occasion. The food was excellent, the waiter was awesome.... The only thing was they had no rolls and were giving regular bread. Someone should've run into town for rolls. Everything else was great.
Horrible food. Cold eggs. No variety. Service was not very good either. Very slow
Our waiter was great! It looks pretty with all the lights
Overall they had good food, it was cozy, and the scenic view was pretty
Restaurant was not a nice atmosphere, service was extremely slow, long wait and wasn’t that busy. Took about 20 minutes to get waited on, then about 1 hour wait to eat. Very disappointing.
Food came out cold and over cooked.
We had breakfast, lunch and dinner! They were all yummy and the wait staff was excellent!
The staff was friendly , courteous and efficient. We had a couple items that needed to be heated up a little more but it was quickly taken care of. A little out of the way for us but it at least was good for a one time experience. We may may it back for a second go around based on our experience.
Had reservations for dinner at 3. When I arrived I was given a lunch menu. Upon requesting the dinner menu I was informed that dinner started at 4 and I couldn’t order the $28 steak I had my mind set on. I instead ordered chips and fish which was over cooked and for some reason they didn’t order tarter sauce when they added it to the menu.
Most delicious food I’ve had from a restaurant. The fries are worth the drive!
My chicken was not cooked. They did cover our meal but it was our anniversary dinner and my expectations were much higher. Would not return.
Huge disappointment! They ran out of the appetizer that was displayed on the chalkboard menu and the steak was just ok. Also, took forever to get a drink and THEY RAN OUT OF VODKA! The other disappointment was that they close at 9PM and this was the only bar at the castle.
The castle was beautiful and I was expecting the restaurant to be somewhat the same theme, but it was not. All-in-all it was still a nice place and food was good. Unfortunately I believe they were short handed severs that evening we attended therefore our service was poor. We will go back again and would recommend to others for a nice dinner / evening.
Outstanding walleye; best I have ever had with a unique preparation that does NOT ruin the taste with unnecessary breading or sauces. My wife's filet was also very good. High quality for a reasonable price. Favorable affordable drink pricing that was under what was expected.
More families than I expected. Therefore louder Thani expected and not conducive to conversation.
It was a nice experience except that one person in our group of 11 did not get their meal with the rest of us. We were told they forgot to cook her steak so she didn’t get to eat until the rest of us were already done eating. She was offered a free dessert, however we weren’t going to have enough time, so the manager did Comp her meal. We did want to try dessert so you did lose out on selling us that part of the dinner. Mistakes happen and it wouldn’t keep us away
Such a unique restaurant! Our server was great. It was a bit on the pricey side, but the food was fantastic!
Food was poor for the price. Service was as bad as it gets. We waited an hour for our food for dinner and breakfast. Employees were poorly trained. When we questioned our server about waiting an hour for our breakfast she said and I quote “ Not my fault”. Poor reply. By the way there were only 6 people in the restaurant. You have a nice property that is poorly managed. David Marshall
We stopped here Sunday morning for breakfast after staying in a Mohican treehouse. I had chosen this place after looking up the menu in advance, and was looking forward to trying some items on the menu. However, we arrived to find that it was buffet-only. Given that we weren't sure what else was around, we stayed for the buffet and it was average. On the up-side, the cost was quite reasonable - $12.99 for breakfast buffet including coffee, however the selection was small and we didn't eat much. I'm writing this review so others know that on the weekends it's buffet only (I didn't see this anywhere on the website).
This was our first time dining at the Copper Mug Bar & Grill. We had planned dinner with friends prior to the ghost walk. We made reservations but I am not sure why because it didn't seem to matter (the staff didn't even go by the reservation). The restaurant had a very large party (class reunion) so we opted to dine outside. The noise level inside the restaurant would have been very distracting for normal conversation. Our meals were very good and the wait staff were very accommodating, trying to keep the yellow jackets at bay. We will visit the Bar & Grill again but I am still not sure why I would make reservations. Next time we would like to dine inside.
We made reservations for 530 and we didn’t know there was a 1973 class reunion there and it was loud in the restaurant. It was so loud we had to go outside and eat and the bee problem they have is terrible but we felt it was better to deal with bees. Food took long to get to us the steak on my salad was over cooked.
The cream of mushroom soup was too salty and was not hot. The burger I ordered was prepared the way I ordered but it too was salty. My wife enjoyed her meal
Absolutely wonderful experience. Great staff from the hostess to the waitress. Wonderful food and delicious drinks. Beautiful atmosphere and property.
Amazing food and service - we were very impressed and pleased with our experience! Servers were very helpful and knowledgeable, and the food was to die for. Loved the specialty cocktails and unique appetizers - especially the Goat Cheese Crostinis! My husband's Delmonico steak was cooked perfectly, and I was very happy with the Chicken Florentine. We both loved the home made blueberry jam so much that we bought a jar to take home with us. And the carrot cake was delicious for dessert. Definitely worth the price tag and we will be back soon!
Everything was delicious! From our drinks to our appetizer to our main course - our experience and food was wonderful!
Food was cold...waitress didn’t know what food was on menu..breakfast was a buffet and we specifically came for blueberry crepes which are on the website....very misleading
Excellent care was given to us by our server, Tiara. Food was outstanding and did not disappoint. The drive was beautiful and the place itself was majestic. This was a truly unique experience from start to finish. Will most definitely return.
