About The Copper Door
The Copper Door in Hayesville, North Carolina is located right on the corner of Hiawassee Street and Sullivan Street. This restaurant is largely known for its fresh seafood, dry-aged steaks and complete wine list. In 2011 and 2012, The Copper Door was even given Wine Spectator�s Award of Excellence for its offerings.

Wonderful. Such a great restaurant...and in Hayesville ! We are vacationing here from No. Fla. Will be back in April, Aug. & Oct. Plz include us in your E-mails! email@example.com. We would gladly spread the word. Our waiter implied the restaurant was part of a chain. Which association? We would gladly enjoy being part of your customer base. Meal prices very good. Wine list prices-seemed to be a very low markup-superb ! Quality of food , service, ambience-wonderful. Wish we had brought our finery to match the restaurant's!

This restaurant in the small town of Hayesville, North Carolina is absolutely world class. We had dinner there this past week and everything from a drink in the bar before dinner to the decadent desserts after dinner was A plus!! We have been there many times, as we have a summer home in the mountains; and we have never had a bad meal there. If you are in the vicinity of western NC, take the time to find the Copper Door. You'll be glad you did.
Reservation was made on Open Table. We were seated promptly at the appointed time. Accommodations were made for a motorized chair for one of my guests. Our server was well versed on the menu and specials. We all started with the red pepper bisque. It was served hot and was delicious. All 3 of us had filets--cooked perfectly and tender. The sides were great -- baked potato, sweet potato mash and grits as well as the vegetables. Will definitely be back. Wait staff was attentive without being obtrusive.
My daughter asked if just her and I could go out to eat to spend time together. I have been wanting to take her to the Copper Door for a while. I made a reservation and we went. She ordered the filet and she said it was the best steak she has ever had. I had the prime rib that was on special and it was great as well. We ordered the Creme Brulee for desert and it was also amazing. It is the same great food and great service every time that we go. I love the Copper Door and would advise anyone and everyone to try it. If you live in Hayesville and have never tried it then you are truly missing out. Thank you again to the staff at the Copper Door for making a great memory for my daughter and I.
This was my first time at the Copper Door, and it definitely will not be the last. My family and I were celebrating my sister's retirement, and we had a fantastic time. The food was out of this world, and the bottle of wine we had was one of the best Merlot's I've tasted. Our server was wonderful, and we could not have asked for a better server, or have had a better time than the one we had at the Copper Door. The whole experience was fantastic and my family and I can't wait to dine there again.
We went here for my husbands birthday while we were staying in town for a wedding. The food and the service were absolutely exceptional! The Chef came out and greeted us and also made a special birthday cake for us. I would recommend this restaurant for anyone who would like an enjoyable, relaxing,delicious, meal with superb service.
We celebrated our 38th wedding anniversary on 8-27 -15. We moved from Chicagoland in 2014. The Copper Door rates with any Upscale restaurant we attended in the 10 years we lived there or the 16 years we lived in the Tampa Bay Area. We are retired now & do not eat out as much as we used to, but we will definitely be back.
Great place to dine...wonderful staff, owner who is truly running the restaurant, wonderful food , good wine list. A true gem in the mountains..close to Hiawasee, Blairsville, Murphy. but worth the drive from farther points.. prices have recently increased but still a great value .
During our month stay in Hayesville, we dined here three times! Always, the service was attentive without being cloying. The food was outstanding. This is the best filet I've had since the last time I was at Chick and Ruth's....totally wonderful. The sides were fresh and interesting. The best thing was the dessert called Creme Suzanne...Yum. My husband said the salmon was outstanding. Be sure and try this one... A cut above anything in the area.
We were visiting Brasstown Bald for my father's 70th birthday and we were told the Copper Door was the spot to dine. I would agree 100% with that statement. The food is delicious and the service is fantastic. I would highly recommend the Copper Door to anyone.
We ate at the restaurant for our anniversary dinner while visiting the North Georgia mountains. The restaurant is very nice in terms of ambiance but we found the initial service very slow. The food was ok but not exceptional. I've had much more tasty food from Bonefish Grill, Ruth Chris, etc. I would not have mind the expense if the food was great.
I took my wife here for her birthday. She loved it. We both thought it was the best filet mignon we've ever had, and we have both eaten at some very fine restaurants. I wouldn't call this a "foodie" restaurant nor would I consider its cuisine "French", as was suggested by our waiter. I would just consider it excellent food in a wonderful décor that is perfect for a romantic or special occasion.
I love The Copper Door. That said, the only two mediocre visits I have had, out of a dozen, have been on weeknights. Even at mediocre, The Copper Door is worth it; however, I recommend weekends. I don't know what changes, but from presentation to taste, I notice a difference.
Service was great, Paloma, our waitress was fantastic. The steaks were ordered med-rare and came back quite rare but it was easier to eat it than send it back. The bananas foster was quite good! The ambiance is nice, but disappointing to see others in shorts and t-shirts, but that's not the restaurant's fault.
We will go back again.
The Copper Door is sort of our "go to" for special occasions and this time was my wife's sister's wedding anniversary which happened to fall on a Wednesday which I mention because although we have eaten there a number of times we had never been there on prime rib night which is always on Wednesday. All four of us ordered the prime rib medium rare. It was outstanding, cooked perfectly. The pop ups are always great in the bread basket, the sides were very good. Service is always outstanding at this restaurant and it was again.
The Copper Door was a perfect meeting place for three different groups in our party of nine. The service was particularly good - we were not treated like a large party, but as if the size and complexity mattered little. Beverages, appetizers, entrees, and finally the Bananas Foster were timed perfectly. A lovely, lovely time was had by all -
Another incredible and excellent dining experience. We have been very fortunate and blessed to have eaten and experience 5 star restaurants all over the world and The Copper Door not only meets but SUPERSEEDS expectations in every category. Superb food with exceptional service from truly great people from the Owner/Chef to his wonderful daughter and her staff of fine waiters and waitresses. There is no better place to enjoy ANY occasion :-)
The copper door was mediocre and over priced the food was equivalent to that of Walmart prepared by somebody that might have an idea of what they're doing. For having a reputation for steaks it was substantially under par the fois graus was overcooked and any exposure outside of and including beef I would announce is less than adequate as was the service.
