A good neighborhood choice. A familiar menu, good service, and good cocktails.
Most enjoyable brunch in this lovely upper west side restaurant. They have a wide ranging and delicious brunch menu. The food was very tasty - the avocado toast with smoked salmon topped with a poached egg was served with a generous salad and was perfect brunch fare. Eggs Benedict were classic and well prepared, and the kale salad a healthy option. Efficient and friendly staff allowed adequate time for us to settle and refilled water glasses without prompting. It's a little noisy but that should not be the reason to forgo this lively, sociable upper west side restaurant. I look forward to trying their dinner menu.
Everything was great BUT I was charged $5 for each small glass bottle of Diet Coke which is the equivalent of paying $10 for one can of Diet Coke. It feels like a ripoff and tainted my feelings for the restaurant
Wonderful experience! Food was absolutely delicious! And the ambiance was perfect- cozy lighting and candles on the tables, all together absolutely lovely dining experience! Will be back soon!
Our new go-to neighborhood place. We love the attentive service; the staff seems to really care about our experience. The food is heads and shoulders above other neighborhood places. We now consider ourselves "regulars."
The Consulate is amazing. The food is always on point and they have the most welcoming and accommodating staff I’ve experienced in NYC. Love this place!
Had a dinner for Valentine’s day with a friend. The table was on time, the food and drinks delicious. Probably one of the best I have ever tried in the city. The service was BEYOOONDD!! 👌🏻 So careful and patient.
Everything was perfect can’t wait to come again. Would DEFINITELY recommend. 🥰
Best burger in town, bar none! Beautifully composed, great meat, great bun, great fries , totally fair price! I was there for lunch and was put off by the big, pretty dirty windows, which were hard to see through. Also American coffee tasted like old espresso. Still, the waiter cheerfully replaced it. Yeah, I’ll return and I thank them for being open for lunch.
Nice restaurant. Will return. Great Caesar salad.
The food is average/good. The prices are steep. $25 for a hamburger and $19 for pancakes seems excessive for the location and quality.
Great food (except a few dishes were not hot enough), wonderful staff and great ambience.
I love this restaurant.
I was dining here 3 times already and every time was amazing.
The first thing I want to mention is the ambiance.
This is really busy restaurant but seems like everything goes so smoothly.
Music, service, people just perfect. The bartender Milan is the funniest bartender who makes the best cocktails ever.
The second best thing is the food!
Every time is just perfect. They always have new specials on the menus which is a nice surprise every time.
Try steak, skate, short rib cavatelli, Herb chicken, burrata.
Cocktails: all of them!!!!
Really nice surprise. I live in the neighborhood for more than 15 years and I can't be more grateful for having this restaurant open.
Finally, dissent food and service but the best part is the ambiance.
For the entree, we had Dover sole and steak Frites, probably one of the best steak I ever had.
Stuff was really polite and attentive.
But the ambiance, we felt like we are in the heart of Paris.
Do your self a favor and go visit this place.
Great neighborhood spot, but also worth traveling to UWS!
It was Saturday night meeting up with a long time no see friends. The ambience was great, accompanied by the pleasant nice music in the background while we talked and talked. The food was super delicious, as we had lots of appetizers to share, while enjoyed our fancy drinks. Big shoutout to the bartender Miljan! The main course were amazing, the burger and the tomahawk are a must to try!! The service was friendly and very pleasant. The overall experience was beautiful. Im so happy having this kind of spot in my neighborhood. Keep up the great job guys! 👏🏼👏🏼
The soup of the day was Leak and Potato Soup which I thought was one of the worst that I have ever had. I returned it for the Onion Soup which was fair. The broth had a nice flavor but the cheese topping had little flavor and the bread served in the soup added little to its enjoyment. In addition, few onion slices were in the soup, they normally enhance the soups flavor. The sautéed skate was ordinary.
We're so happy The Consulate is in our neighborhood. We find it an oasis of good food, impeccable
and friendly service, and a welcoming and lovely atmosphere. What could be better!
Great new spot! Hopefully a neighborhood mainstay. Awesome menu, very friendly staff, beautiful bar & restaurant. I had the hangover burger and it did not disappoint.
Excellent food and exceptional service every time!
We went for a birthday brunch and it was fabulous. Staff could not do enough for us!
This was our second trip. The food is good. Always hard to get service started, but once the server finally shows up, everything was fine. Much too noisy because of bad acoustics.
Terrific. Finally an UWS neighborhood restaurant to rival the UES. They like the music a little loud, but will turn it down on request. The servers are extremely nice and well meaning, but can use a little more training to be "advocates" for their customers. (I had to ask the waitress to interrupt the bartender who was talking to a customer for 5 or 10 minutes while I was waiting for some ice.)
For brunch, burger and eggs Benedict were mediocre at best. Bummer since it’s a nice big space. Hopefully they can improve the food!
There is a low bar for restaurants on the upper West Side and this restaurant does not even reach that bar
Vladimir was a gracious and attentive waiter. Drinks were on the watery side. Shrimps in the Shrimp and Grits dish were NOT AT ALL what I am accustomed to being served. Would certainly go back!
Great location and decor; however, 1 out of 3 appetizers we had were good. Any of the flatbreads are a safe choice, but the grilled artichoke was under seasoned and the mussels had a fishy taste.
Menu incorrect and dishes ordered were not as described.
Server did his best to ad-lib but as stated on menu was not correct
Manager was gracious and removed one entree from check
My entree was roast chicken which was dry and bland
Overall experience was not worthy of returning
Great spot food food
The food was good, not great. Several entrees arrived cold, some were very small portions. Pleasant atmosphere, high prices..
Out of this world food! Everything was so delicious and tasty. The staff was very lovely and attentive. Love the whole vibe, I was once saddened that Makaveli’s left but now I’m so delighted that The Consulate is here!
Keep up the amazing work. Compliments to the chef
New Year’s Eve
The wait staff was excellent and the food was well prepared. We were the only 2 diners in the restaurant section, had an early seating(5:00P.M), and asked if we could be accommodated with the cocktail hour pricing. The “owner” decided this would be too far of a reach, and declined our request. We ate and enjoyed some drinks anyway. At the end of the meal we asked again if they would accommodate the happy hour drink price (we had 40 minutes to kill before a movie) and the waiter informed us that the owner again declined our request. We ended up at another place for a cocktail before the movie. Poor choices by the ownership will have us not coming back or recommending.
We are very sorry about your experience. The Consulate serves Happy Hour drinks and food menu only and only at the bar. Mon-Fri from 4pm to 7pm. Hopefully, you will come back again and try our Happy Hour menu at the bar. Kind Regards
Good and ambiance excellent, service poor. Slow, sporadic, servers not knowledgeable.
We arrived for Happy Hour. Cocktails are very well crafted with bartenders anxious to go off the menu to construct one to personal preferences. Full menu is available at bar, but cocktail hour offerings were excellent. We had smoked salmon accent and arancini. I see many future happy hours here. Enjoy!!
We were delighted with The Consulate. Friendly and accommodating staff, a great space and excellent food. My lamb was perfect and the shrimp appetizer was well cooked and presented.
We had the house wines which were very good. Highly recommend.
The noise level is out of control, with people yelling at the top of their voices over loud, thumping music and sensory overload of lights. The promised menu online was not the same when I arrived at the restaurant, a big disappointment. I deliberately made a 5PM reservation because the online site said that was the start time for dinner, but when I arrived the place was packed and had been open for hours. I ordered rack of lamb and was served only two very small lamb chops; I ordered creamed spinach and was served spinach with no cream. The arugala/artichoke/hearts of palm salad was cold and had no flavor, and the wait time between the salad and entree was way too long; I also had to wait a very long time to get my check and a long time for it to be picked up. The tables are so close together that I overheard every scrap of conversation by adjoining patrons and the incessant screaming of a one year old baby. Everything is overpriced; I had to pay $68 for a paltry bit of food, and the tip made it come to $81. I got increasingly angry after I left this deplorable place, and when I called to complain I was told that nothing could be done even though I was right because I didn't complain on the spot. I will never go back to this awful place, and I will lose no opportunity in person and on social media to steer anyone away from it.
Christmas Day brunch
Impeccable restaurant! We went for Christmas day brunch and were very pleased. Menu selection was great and atmosphere was elegant and also down-to-earth. Service was exceptional from owners greeting us at door to very pleasant waiter and attentive managers. And the food was absolutely wonderful!
We had avocado and salmon with poached egg on toasted rustic bread that came with a perfectly dressed side salad of mixed greens. We also had nutella brioche french toast with strawberries, as well as a delicious omelet with fried fingerling potato homefries.
Coffees and bar drinks were perfect and the espresso martini was especially good. We will return. This new restaurant is destined to be a long-time asset to the city!
Server poured a second glass of wine which had not been requested. Assumed it was complementary but it appeared on the bill! Monkfish was excellent, lamb chop just blah and quite overpriced.
Nice space, classic bistro decor, diverse menu. A welcome addition to the UWS.
