Date of Visit: May 14, 2025 Occasion: My husband's 37th birthday Reservation Time: 7:30 PM The Consulate Atlanta has earned praise for its globally inspired cuisine--and rightly so. The food was phenomenal. Every dish was vibrant, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Our server, Deja, was warm, professional, and one of the few highlights of the evening. Unfortunately, the front-of-house experience did not reflect the same level of excellence. We arrived on time for our reservation, only to be told our table wasn't ready. The restaurant advertises a two-hour seating limit, yet we waited nearly 30 minutes with no updates. Meanwhile, we observed others being sitting and given menus. A couple sat at a table near the bar and given menus, though we were told those seats were for the bar. The inconsistency was glaring. When we were finally seated, it was at a small corner table with no acknowledgment of the birthday we had clearly noted in our reservation. It felt like an afterthought--especially for a special occasion. We addressed our concerns with the owner, who remained polite but surprisingly introduced race as a possible factor--something we never suggested. Our feedback focused on the delay, inconsistent policies, and lack of communication. When I clarified our wait was 30 minutes (not 15), the shift in tone was evident. To clarify: My husband never received the complimentary dessert that was later implied by the owner. In fact, I had to ask about a note on the check reading "Do Not Make" and still charged for it--which I kept. It seems the gesture was offered, but never followed through on, much like much of the service that evening. Had I planned additional birthday activities, we would have been late and likely out money due to the restaurant's poor time management. I've dined at many fine restaurants across the country. Feedback is a gift--when met with accountability. I hope this review is received in that spirit.

Greetings, I felt the need to clarify a few things again from your full Google review. The night you joined us, we were at capacity and had a few tables that were past the suggested dining time. We would never eject guests, as we want them just like you to enjoy their evening with us. There were no guests that got seated before you. You were under the impression somehow that a table got placed ahead of you. As I stated in person, that is incorrect. The two guests merely went to the bar. In fact, they sat at a table, 15 feet away from you, 17 minutes after you got seated. I'm also shocked to hear you say we did "nothing to enhance the occasion."! Odd. We gave you a free appetizer, two glasses of champagne, removed one of your cocktails from your tab, and a free dessert for your husband.

LOUD!!! Food was a mixed bag..some of my companions (5 of us) liked their entrees. I tried both Indonesian stews - coconut and dark like mole and thought both mediocre...sauces particularly the dark sauce overpowered any other flavors. We had a 7:45 reservation and we were not seated until 8:15pm. In their defense there were some large parties in the restaurant and the noise level (with speaker music too loud) was deafening!

Dear Steve, thank you for your visit. We try as hard as possible to have reservations sat as close to their time slot as possible. Sorry for the delay, as we have been extremely busy with the corporate sector discovering us. Our Egyptian menu starts June 1st and hope to see you then.

The food and cocktails were amazing, as always. We especially loved the red snapper! Wow! And the service by Jay was absolutely wonderful. Indeed, from the beginning to end, every person and every item was perfect. Excited to return again soon!

Jay was the best- great food & beverage advice (the ribs & sorbet- OMG), very kind & attentive but not overly so. Love the ambience & concept. So glad we gave this place a try for graduation celebration, only wish we’d done so sooner!

Phenomenal creative food. Love the concept of trying new cuisines from around the globe. Unfortunately, Service is not up to standard. When seated we were left unattended, without even acknowledgment, let alone water, for more than 20 minutes, and there were just a handful of tables. Was not packed. It was not busy. We had to say something to the hostess to have one of the servers come wait on us.
The ConsulateResponded on May 3, 2025
Dear Jennifer, I spoke with the team, and yes, we goofed. Our deepest apologies. Your server was not notified she had a table that got sat. We are glad to hear you enjoyed overall and thank you for the 5 stars. We look forward to your return!

Went to the Consulate for a celebratory dinner. Great service, excellent food, and enjoyable ambience. The Consulate has a patron spin a globe quarterly to choose the next cuisine that the menu will focus on. We'll go there again to see where they land on the globe next.
