Great concept and the food is really good as well. The ambiance is very lively and the food is very unique. The Red Snapper executive style was very tasty and so were the jerk chicken skewers. I like the concept of trying out food from all over the world. The menu is changes every 90 days and each time its cuisine from different part of the world. My suggestion would be to keep the items that are customer favorites from each cuisine and keep that as regular menu items.
This place was so delicious. I just went with my boyfriend and we ordered way too much food for two people. As a tapas place, it's definitely better to go with a larger group, so you can order and try more things. We LOVED the Namibian food they have this quarter. It was so delicious. Everything else was delicious, but our favorite dish was definitely their non-permanent. I recommend everyone go in the next 2 months to try it!
Also the atmosphere of this place is amazing. Eclectic and stylish. Great cocktails. And the waitstaff is extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and kind.
Unique Interior - Love the global men that changes quarterly
Eclectic menu of foods with heavy sweet sauces. Menu items sound far more interesting than flavor profile. So very underwhelming food. Most disappointing is the pathetic service. Waited 20 minutes for a waiter to even ask for a drink order and then terrible lack of attention bordering on bizarre behavior of waiter. Would not run here given all the other options in Atlanta
Waited almost 30 minutes to be seated for a Birthday reservation...
Incredibly knowledgeable staff, had to wait an hour past my reservation to be seated but they were super nice and discounted some wine to make up for it. Overall an amazing place!
awesome place , unique, food service great! cant wait to come back, great for groups!!
Great food with a fun atmosphere tucked away near the Midtown MARTA station. Highly recommend it for a very different dining experience with their quarterly rotating menu.
Dinner was overall good, great place to take someone for a more formal but still fun dining experience. We were sandwiched between what appeared to be two first dates, so was a little louder than preferred but wasn’t bad.
Great ambiance , Great food!! Our server was nice but not attentive. The only issue we had was during our check in the ladies were not courteous. The two young ladies were borderline rude and dismissive
I’ve been there twice now snd love the ambience. Great cocktails and good food too!
Ordered duck, didn’t like it because it tasted very gamey/wild... waitress didn’t offer to bring us something else instead and charged us for it.
Ordered dessert, they were out of it as well as the second dessert option we wanted.
Ordered a bottle of wine that we waited 20 minutes for and at that point we decided we didn’t want it... couldn’t find the waitress. When she finally came back she said they were trying to ice it.
Seriously disappointed, it was $125 for two of us and we left happy hungry and seriously disappointed.
Favorite part: the decor. Five stars there.
I dine out very regularly and have to say this is the most disappointed I have been with a restaurant service in a very long time. My sister came to visit from out of town and we had heard great things about The Consulate, so wanted to give it a try. We arrived at 8:15 for our 8:30 reservation and the hostess said our table was not ready yet so we were welcome to wait in the lounge or bar. We decided to have a drink at the bar. We ordered 2 glasses of rose cava, which were served to us and were flat. We requested a new bottle, which the bartender accommodated without hesitation. At a few minutes after 9, I reproached the hostess concerned that we had not yet been seated and was told she forgot to check us in and could sit us now. She sat us at the most crowded spot of the restaurant and at this time there were many open nicer tables available. The waiter took over 10 minutes to come to the table. We ordered a full bottle of cava and 4 small plates to share and after finishing the 2nd plate asked about the wine and were told it was on ice waiting for us. At that point, we were half way through our meal and no longer wanted the full bottle so just asked for 2 glasses. The third plate came and the fourth never did arrive. After finally seeing our waiter again and flagging him down, we asked about the 4th plate and he said he forgot to put that on the ticket (even though he is the one who recommended we try it!). Needless to say, we were very disappointed and were not even approached in anyway about any concessions for the check. There were no apologies and there was a lack of concern. It was a terrible way to end a very fun day in the city.
The Consulate is my new go to! I love the atmosphere and the hospitality! The staff, including the owner, is always personable and authentic. The food is fantastic and I am in love with the idea of the menu changing every three months. I've been twice already in two weeks. I think I will go weekly and sit at the bar for my favorite crafted cocktail!
Very disappointed. We were looking forward to a wonderful meal at the Consulate. We ordered two of the specials from Zambia; the chicken cutlet and the mango salad. We also ordered from the regular menu: the lamb chops ($27) and the veggie burger. The chicken cutlet was tasty unfortunately the rest of the meal was lackluster. Most disappointing were the lamb chops that were dry on a bed of couscous that did not taste fresh (I would know I'm Moroccan). The salad was soggy and the burger was missing seasoning. I will give a pass for the burger given that it appears a lot of people like it. I think the menu itself is great however the execution was not at the level expected given the hype. Would not return given alternate options in Altanta with fresher ingredients.
Fun concept with rotating menu inspired by International countries/regions, an ambitious undertaking that worked successfully (at least when we ate there). Upon scouting the wine list of completely unfamiliar labels, our superiorly professional waiter-- Erdem -- asked how we like our coffee. What? Well, we went with it and responded "black". So he brought us a red wine with the flavor profile which would appeal to black-coffee drinkers and, wow, it was delicious! Who knew Lebanon exports amazing wine? We enjoyed every drop with our Moroccan-based dinner which was quite satisfying, but I was left wanting a little more complexity of spices. Other than the spice-handling and the odd parking situation (find out ahead of time where to park or just Uber it like everyone else on the planet), this gem of a restaurant in decor, atmosphere, and service delighted and intrigued. I'm excited to return to explore the next iteration of the menu, and I will ask for a booth.
Everything about our experience was flawless. Outstanding service. Great flavors. It’s like a little trip around the globe!
Had a amazing time. Just wish the table was ready when our reservation was for, had to wait for 20mins.
This was the second time we have dined at this restaurant. The food was good, but the drink availability was lacking. They did not have enough sparkling water for our table. The wine request and was not available and the pinot recommended smelled musty. We were told that it was because they were changing their menu in 3 days. Very disappointing. We also had to find someone to request that our table be cleared. This was not the same level of service that we previously had.
Very hard to park and find where the restaurant is. However, once found we had great service and good food. Slightly on the loud side.
Great concept that the menu changes each three months.
Really enjoyed this place. Unlike so many “trendy” spots, the prices were very reasonable. I have already recommended this place to several friends. Intrigued to see how they approach Zimbabwean food.
This has become one of my favorite spots to dine out and entertain. I've never had a bad dish here. The service could be improved. Usually it's great; however, everything was super slow on this last visit. The bartender was slow. It took forever for the food to come out. Hopefully this was just a one off.
This by far is one of my favorite restaurants. The menu, service, food atmosphere is top notch.
Overall a very good first experience, we will be back. This is a great spot with character and charm in Midtown! The atmosphere is super cozy, inviting, and at the same time swanky. The food was generally excellent, with each dish being spiced well. However, we did have a small hiccup when our dumplings came out ice cold in the center. This was fixed right away by our excellent server, but it did make me think the dumplings are probably frozen (though definitely still made in house). While I think this is a restaurant where you should be adventurous and try new things, I can't help but say the burger was AMAZING!!!
everything was great, loved the food and the bar tenders, as we were waiting for our table, were certainly on point. They made the evening!
The service was a bit off from the entrance (Hostess) and our table server.
The hostess seemed un interested in us and I had to speak to her first, once we entered and stood at the stand. The server was good but we seemed to have to wait for them to come to the table and we always had to ask for more wine/water. We probably would have had more wine and dessert but sat with dry glasses for a while and just moved on to another location.
I will certainly return but hope for a step up in service.
Creative ambience and menu. Loved the drink menu as well. Service was working hard but understaffed. Neat place, loved it!
Excellent. Loved the James Bond inspired decorations.
The food was amazing!! I love the concept of changing the featured country every 90 days. We had Morocco as our country and had a featured appetizer and cocktail but both decided to get The American for dinner. A NY Strip steak cooked to perfection with fingering potatoes, asparagus, and a demi glaze. DELICIOUS! I've already told several friends about the restaurant and our experience. We'll be back, soon!
Service was rushed and the staff seemed overly eager to get us out of the restaurant on a Saturday evening. The food was Moroccan themed when we visited but failed to impress.
After a complaint to management over our rushed dinner experience, we were treated to dessert and coffee on the house. The management’s resolution of our experience was excellent and handled with the utmost grace. I am grateful to the manager/owners attention to our complaint. On a separate note, the decor and ambience were great and the attention to detail was apparent. We will definitely try the Consulate again and I will revise my review accordingly. In the meantime, I wish the establishment the best success.
Be prepared to wait an additional 30-45 minutes from your “reservation” time! Also, we ate our whole meal and the server finally admitted he forgot to ring in our drink... so that was disappointing. Besides that, we will probably be back!! Food was excellent and the ambiance was fun.
A sifferent take on a trendy restaurant decor, and their 90 day, rotating, menu. Refreshing and very worthwhile - will be back
The staff was wonderful and food changes every 90 days. Cocktails are truly craft
Have been to the consulate 4 times and have recommended it to many friends. This time however, had a terrible experience with the food and service and mostly the management. We ordered an entree after confirming from the waiter that the fish wasn’t too “fishy”. Once the entree came, my husband took one bite and said it was inedible. While we normally don’t send food back, this was an exceptional situation. The waiter came back after we called him back to order other things at which point he said he cannot do anything about taking the fish off the bill since the chef says the fish was cooked appropriately and has packed it in a to go box. I asked him politely to call the manager. Chef mei Lin came and even after being politely told what was wrong, insisted that the kitchen has cooked it correctly, no one has sent it back and can only pack it in a to go box and take $5 off the total bill! This poor attitude to customer service from a high end restaurant where the avg meal is $75 a person was just unacceptable. I let the chef know we were going to order more food and drinks but now just wanted the check so that we could go. We then walked over to Ecco for drinks and more food!
Atlanta local working in Sales — i take clients out all the time for lunch/dinner.
This was by far my most enjoyable services yet. Server has a natural talent on reading people well and offering top service.
Food was just Ok, to me. And we waited a really long time to get our drinks.
Great food, drink, and excellent service. Excited to return to try other delicious apps and entrees.
Waiter was not as attentive as I’d like, but water was always filled and we eventually got everything I wanted.
Wonderful experience. Our server was full of knowledge and we had a great time. Food was delicious and we can't wait to come back and try more things.
The food was outstanding! Be willing to try new things and listen to your waiter/waitress' recommendations. Make sure you make a reservation.
