Saturday Global Brunch Coming soon!
This place was absolutely perfect! The staff are all very knowledgeable and accommodating and everything we ordered to eat and drink ended up being delicious. We will definitely come back for the rising menu items and some favorites!
Worst server ever. 20 min to order a drink then tells me there is congac in a french 75. Ah no! Tells us what we ordered was "interesting" he terribly criticized every dish.. Curry dish was appalling. And yet I already read about the red head terrible waiter. Shame. The other dishes were ok.
Since this was a recommendation from a chef, I was shocked. If we ever do make again, ...I'll risk the bar only.
Ambiance was great. Very cool vibe. Great music played. And we may just wait for the Moroccan menu to try again.
I expected the food to be outstanding. It was good though.
A special place, somewhat intimate, but music was a little loud for easy conversation. Excellent service and food.
The ambiance and food was perfect. Our waiter was awful. Can't remember his name but he had red hair. The service was incredie slow, and he even told us not to order things we WANTED to order. It was not a great experience.
This was our 3rd visit to the Consulate and it was our best yet. The delicacies of China menu is amazing and we also had some usual favorites. Great ambiance and wonderful service every time
Love. Best atmosphere in Atlanta, food is great, service is great, prices reasonable, no stupid tv with sports playing and not too loud where you can’t hear above other diners. Close to perfect. (Just needs to add a starter salad to your menu! )
Our party of seven was there for three hours, an hour longer than necessary. I had to get up from the table and go had hunt down our waiter for drink orders, to bring the check, and to collect the credit cards. I saw no reason for this like short staffed or overbooked tables. The food is really good but not worth the wait at all. And for my birthday celebration they didn't even offer a cookie with a candle in it. I would go back but only to sit at the bar and have a drink.
Food was great but service was awful.
Friends had been telling me to try The Consulate, I am so glad that I finally did!! It was INCREDIBLE!! I met a friend for cocktails and dinner. The drinks were outstanding. Our server had an affable and pleasant demeanor. She was very informative about the various menus and made excellent suggestions based on our respective eating preferences. The atmosphere is, well.......sexy. There is a subtle masculinity to the decor that is softened by some distinctly feminine elements. It's not a large space which gives it an intimacy that I often seek in some of my favorite haunts around the city. The Consulate just become a new fave!!
When visiting, I would suggest selecting items from both the Resident and the Visa menus for both food and cocktails. From the Resident menu, the Duck Confit is EVERYTHING!! I strongly encourage that item as a "must do" for anyone visiting The Consulate. We also enjoyed the Octopus alla Griglia and Brussel Sprouts. Everything else we ordered came from the Visa menu. For our visit, the stop was China. I aloved the Jellyfish salad!
Next visit, I will be trying a different cocktail and dessert. You cannot go wrong with a visit to The Consulate.
I like how they have 2 parts to the menu. 1 part is “residence”, they feature items always on the menu. 1 part is “visa” where they explore a different county’s cuisine every 90 days (then the “visa” expires). The chef is OUTSTANDING!!!
Drinks took ages to arrive after placing the order.
Server was very apologetic.
Food was good
Noise level made conversation almost impossible (large office party group next to us)
The food was outstanding and the atmosphere is terrific. But, we were sandwiched between two other two tops which felt a bit cramped and you can hear the details of everyone’s conversations. Then, after our initial greeting from our waiter (s) I had to ask for him twice. Once because my craft cocktail took forever to arrive then for a dessert menu. I’m going to give it a try for the third time and hope service is more attentive.
It was awesome! Our server, Carter, was extremely knowledgeable about the drinks and their pairings with the food. We have always enjoyed our times here and will continue to go and recommend to others.
Overall, the food was good. After, our Uber driver drove us around the block 3x, we finally found the hidden location...next to the Marta station. Upon walking in, we could tell the decor and ambience were beautiful and well curated. Not sure I’d go back as I felt the pricing wasn’t really worth the tapas style setting. Our waiter spoke incredibly fast and didn’t really give us much chance to ask too many questions. He was nice until I told him that the Brussels sprouts had an overuse of garlic (I love garlic, but this was beyond the pale) making them inedible. I asked for a replacement dish and it was like his demeanor completely changed and he became inattentive and brusque when we did manage to speak with him. Not sure I’ll be returning...it was just meh.
Fantastic find appropriately placed among international offices, the Fed, etc. Vibe is on point. Upscale hip meets Austin Powers.
Creative quarterly rotating menu focused on international cuisines and the “Resident” list includes ongoing favorites from prior menus.
Love this place! We went there with a group of 6 and it was all of our first time there. The food is amazing! I especially am in love with their Korean Duck Confit and Grilled Octopus in Mango sauce! Their BBQ char siu pork from their current China menu was so good and mouth watering!! We got the opportunity to meet Douglas & Chef Mei Lin as well! Such a lovely and super friendly husband & wife (owners)!! The interior of the restaurant is very interesting too! There's so many artwork!!! ❤️🔥 all in all we'll be coming back here again for sure! I really want to spin the globe to choose their next menu! 🙌🏼💛
Food was delicious and elixir cocktail was the best drink I had in ATL
Loved the consulate, this was my second time going so got try a whole new menu of food which did not disappoint! My server, Chris, was THE best! He was attentive, made great recommendations and even let us try things “off the menu” which elevated our experience just that much more! Would highly recommend the consulate!
The food, the atmosphere and the service were phenomenal! Definitely going back.
Love! Love! Love! Nothing else to say...😌
A fun place for an anniversary dinner! They have a section of their menu that changes regularly and highlights a different country. We had great drinks and service. Will definitely be back.
Great location in a very walkable neighborhood and close to public transit; Food was delicious in taste, and nice in presentation; Ambiance is nice, and restaurant concept is unique and fun;
I've introduced friends to this place. It's fun to explore the new menu, inspired by a random pick on the globe, they have every few months. I love it!
Wonderful ambience, great wait staff--our waiter was very informative and helpful. The food was so tasty and different. While small plates--our group of 5 was able to taste each dish.
The drinks were unique and well served.
I will go again and recommend wholeheartedly.
Service was impeccable from beginning to end, food so delicious and surpassed our every expectation. Such a beautiful place to celebrate our wedding anniversary. By far the best tapas that satisfies all palates of every nationality. Gorgeous place and decor that has given us a phenomenal place to come to each and every time they rotate their menu. Finally a worldly place for diverse couples of the world!
AMAZING! We had amazing service, the food was fantastic. There were 4 in our party and we shared several small plates and did not leave feeling hungry. Our server was excellent and gave us some excellent suggestions.
We were planning to celebrate a birthday and made reservations in advance. We were seated quickly, but initially a little disappointed that the staff did not have glasses of champagne at the table as requested.
The ambiance was electric, it was very clear they paid close attention to detail with the restaurant design.
Unfortunately, the service was terrible. I’m not sure if they were short staffed, or what... but it took 45 minutes to get a glass of wine, and and an hour for the first of four small plate to come out.
We ended up leaving dinner after two plates because we had been there an hour and a half and still hadn’t received a hot food item (the first plate actually came out cold, the second was charcuterie).
Maybe it was a bad night for them, but I was not impressed. This is the first time I’ve ever felt compelled to write a review, so please don’t assume this is sour grapes.
On a positive note, their craft cocktails are excellent.
The food was over salted. The replacement dish almost as bad as the first. Off night perhaps but we spent a lot and were hugely disappointed.
We did enjoy the the vegetable dumplings and the octopus.
Extremely slow and inattentive service. New Chinese chicken dish was overcooked and flavorless. Drinks and shrimp dish were good.
We’ve been to the Consulate on many occasions. Many wines not available as well as a couple of entrees.
Amazing food. We had the shrimp dumplings, octopus, bbq pork, and duck confit. For drinks we had the casino royale and the odd jobs punch. Service was good. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and helpful. Would definitely recommend to anyone and everyone.
Waiter was a little haughty. He was reluctant to make recommendations unless he planned the whole meal for us. Seat upholstery was torn and duck taped back together.
Nice location and a casual walk to and from most Midtown hotels. I like that the dining room is on the smaller side and the decor is quite eclectic. Christopher was quite energetic as our server and provided good service and a nice experience overall. I’m usually not a fan of tapas style dining but did enjoy tasting many of the menu offerings. You can order entree portions if you like but on this visit, we stuck with tapas. Def recommend giving The Consulate a try.
The food was eclectic and delicious. The service was impeccable. Finding the parking garage and then the restaurant is a bit confusing, but when I called the restaurant for clarification, they were very helpful. Will absolutely return!
Great experience! Let our waiter choose the menu and he was spot on with a variety of globe trotting delicacies. Food and ambiance was amazing. Will definitely be back when the rotating menu changes. A little hard to find from the street, but worth the search.
everything was great! Amazing drinks, great food and good service! love the concept of the whole space.
Thoroughly enjoyed the ambience and the cuisine. Host made me feel very comfortable and was very informative of the menu.
Two things I noticed that are of issue to me:
-the music didn’t go with the theme of the menu. Minuscule, yes, however, necessary
-they waiter didn’t acknowledge my anniversary. Idk if it’s a opentable thing, but I would have greatly appreciated some form of acknowledgement.
