We loved our visit to the Compound. We enjoyed appetizers, sides, main courses, and dessert, and it was all to die for. Our waiter, Sean, and his helper, Will, gave us excellent recommendations and made sure that we were happy through the whole meal. The manager that night, Chris, even checked in on our and other tables regularly to chat and give recommendations on other things to do in Santa Fe. The restaurant is cozy, tucked away off historic Canyon Road in Santa Fe. It was an intimate and comfortable setting that made for good conversation with companions and staff. The Compound is a must if you are looking for delicious comfort food in an upscale restaurant with excellent service.
The service and the food was so amazing! I felt at home with friends! I will be back next season yay!🍷😋☕️
This is such a lovely place for dinner! It’s well decorated, comfortable, and the food is great. Mauricio was an excellent waiter! Beef tenderloin was a standout, as was the grapefruit tart (both Mauricio’s suggestion), but other dishes on the menu sound amazing as well!
The Compound is still one of the best restaurants in Santa Fe, if not the best, after many years in business. My husband and I love their sweetbreads and pate and always find a main that is interesting and delicious. We drink wine by the glass because we like different wines and we find an adequate list of wines by the glass which is not very common in the restaurant world. The Compound is pricey but worth it. And on top of everything else they have plenty of parking.
This is a very nice restaurant! The food actually reminded me of a cruise we took on the Rhone River in France - the cruise was for foodies and wine connoisseurs. We had a meal at the famous Paul Bocuse restaurant, and our meal at the Compound was similar; where you felt like every dish was cooked to perfection. That is high praise indeed. Also the dishes we had at the Compound- veal osso buco, sweetbreads, foie gras, duck breast - are not every day dishes, but very special! Every bite was utterly delicious, and so rich that we had to take some home. The leftovers made for a sumptuous breakfast!
The restaurant was very quiet due to it being Sunday evening and ski season has been so slow this year. Waiter was very attentive due to few diners. Food was excellent and well prepared.
We have been before when restaurant was busy and noise level was normal to slightly loud.
Excellent dining experience.
Eating at The Compound is like enjoying a Masters course in Fine Dining. Everything you experience from the second you walk in the door is supremely world class at the highest level. Chef Mark Kiffin and his staff do what they do almost effortlessly, yet graciously and with admirable tact. We enjoyed a multi course meal that left me speechless. The handmade pasta with fennel sausage was something that I could eat 7 days a week. The Pork Chop was the type of Chop that dreams are made of. My wife’s Filet was the example that great Filet’s are graded on. Then there’s those Onion Rings, for the love of all that is holy those rings will alter your life!! Dessert was stellar, fun and sophisticated. Those little chocolate balls still linger in my mind.
Excellent food and really wonderful service. Quiet and comfortable without being stuffy.
Just a great restaurant. I have business lunches here as well as evening dinners. A very nice ambience and noise level and in the Spring/Summer they have a wonderful garden in the back with seating. Very cool. We keep going!
One of the best restaurants anywhere, a friend and I always go here to catch up for lunch. Impeccable food, service, and the desserts are always something fabulous. The chicken schnitzel is to die for, though everything is delish. And save room for the pastry chef’s creations, always A+!
We were pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed The Compound. Lovely interior. Heavenly food: Tuna Tartare and Beef Tenderloin are amazing. Excellent service. We'll be back.
We tried The Compound for restaurant week. The food was excellent! The reason I rated it only 4 stars on value is because my entrée was the tenderloin stroganoff and it contained very small pieces of meat. I felt that there was not enough tenderloin to justify the price. But a delicious meal in a wonderful atmosphere!
We love the Compound. We enjoy the warm manner in which we are greeted upon arrival, the friendly, extremely attentive, professional but never pretentious, wait staff, and the food.THE FOOD!! Depending on our mood, we can enjoy haute cuisine or a Kobe beef burger
with the best onion rings ever made. BEST EVER.
Cocktails and wine list is also just as superlative as you would want. We sampled a bunch of really Delish desserts that were a perfect complement to our meals. Don't wait. Go to the Compound now.
Not as good as usual...maybe because it was restaurant week. Didn’t get seated area requested.
This was our 3rd night out for restaurant week and the first time we felt labeled as restaurant week riff raff they sat us in a special section not in main dining I had to wait and finally ask for water refill won’t try again
Went to the Compound last night to celebrate a birthday. I have been several times before and it never disappoints. This time was no different. The food was phenomenal and the service was exceptional. The bartender even hand stuffed a blue cheese olive for my martini! The tuna tartare is the best I have ever had. The entire service team made our night very special. I will be going back for my birthday!
Went for my birthday. As usual the service was superb.Ordered the tuna tartare as my first (it is my absolute favorite dish). For my second, I usually order the lobster carbonara as it's so hard to pass up; however, I went with the scallop for my second and was truly pleased. It's superb! I will be getting it again my next visit. LOVE THIS PLACE!
One of our favorite Santa Fe restaurants. The food is always served with a creative touch.
The restaurant did not check email to determine we had two rather than three and that it was a special occasion. Service was basically miserable. Food was okay, but at $95 for lunch for two (including tip), I was very disappointed. Do not plan to return, despite this being one of my favorites previously.
We had a lovely dinner with old friends during restaurant week. The dishes were exquisitely plated and delicious. The beef stroganoff was melt in your mouth wonderful. I had a chicken picatta that was the best I've every tasted. Dessert was amazing!
superior food prepared with care GREAT
Top notch bartender drinks were perfect
Restaurant week meal was so good, started with lump crab cake and had shrimp and grits the smoked paprika brought the dish to the level of flavor.
I went with my girlfriend for restaurant week, and we both were quite impressed. Beautiful restaurant, first time I’ve been there, definitely will be back! Great food, great service and a unique experience for us both.
My wife ordered the Maine lobster and we were both quite disappointed. The portion was very small, and nothing was remarkable at all as far as the diner's presentation. We were unable to tell whether this was indeed a true Maine lobster. It was cut in small pieces and mixed with spaghetti's type pasta. Also, if you order a steak, be aware it won't come with a steak knife.
We almost ate here on 2/17/2018. We waited an hour and a half for the food. My order was wrong, as I ordered pork not beef, and basically it was a disaster. It didn’t have to be. After waiting what seemed forever, we were told the kitchen was backed up and...basically lies. What most likely happened is they forgot to put in our order, forgot what we ordered and then gave us the wrong order. Bottom line is...mistakes are made, it happens. We waited a long time and the were BSed that it was the kitchens fault. I would have understood and accepted our plight, but became mad when we were lied to. We left. Didn’t eat. Wouldn’t go back.
Our server was fantastic. He was slammed and handled it like a champ. It was busy, so they seated us in what seemed to be overflow seating—several tables’ worth—in the private dining room upstairs, which had much less ambiance than the main floor we glimpsed on our way in and out. Understandable, but I wish I could have sat in the main room, I think that would have changed my whole experience. The wine list is amazing. The food was delicious, well-prepared with quality ingredients, but in my opinion not creative enough to warrant a $49 price tag for lobster carbonara. But it’s a lovely place, I left wanting for nothing. I don’t regret the splurge, but this wasn’t a super memorable experience.
The lobster and crab salad had none of the freshness that distinguishes great seafood. It was substance with no particular outstanding taste. I have no desire to return.
Just excellent, just have to go back for more of the menu.
The scallops and Scottish salmon were to die for! Not just the preparation, but also the presentation. They have earned their reputation.
Valentine's dinner great. Food and service excellent. Sitting in the back section in as set of three 2 person tables 6inches apart killed the ambiance in a big way. Wrong strategy for people trying to have a romantic dinner. Greed often kills romance.
It was Valentines day, and we were enjoying a leisurely meal.
Some later seated folks became rather raucous - such that we had difficulty hearing our own conversation. The Compound managed to find us another table in a quieter location. Service continued without interruption - our Entrees found us in the new location. As usual, a good experience with premium food and wine in Santa Fe.
Staff, food, atmosphere all outstanding - as is expected at this price point and the reputation of The Compound.
Wonderful aesthetics and delightful food! Best meal my husband and I have had in Santa Fe hands down!
Overall a great evening. Dinner at the bar of The Compound is a uniquely wonderful experieionce. Great food, both the dinner and bar menues are available and wonderful people-your own companion and whoever else had the foresight to make the reservation (a virtual must). Everyone talks to everyone else at the bar enjoying a world of experiences as well as one's own companion.
Food and serice are A1. What one would expect. Far and away our favorite Santa Fe dining experience.
Food was inventive and wonderful. Service was not exceptional, but it was adequate. Nice evening.
Fabulous butter lettuce salad, scallops over veggie stew and 2 chicken schnitzels = 3 happy ladies! Back soon.
Exceptional service! We had the Wagyu burgers with green chilis and cheese. Very good!
Our first night in Santa Fe we opted for bar seating and a simpler menu. The drinks were delicious: Sage Advice: a vodka martini with fresh sage and ginger and my husband had the winter margarita with notes of vanilla honey and spiced rum.
I had the local wagyu beef burger which is served with cheese, green chili, and fresh guacamole and a grilled scallion on the side. It was the best burger I’ve eaten in a long time! Perfectly cooked, flavorful and filling. My husband had Phoebe’s gluten-free fried chicken with buttermilk dressing and fries with a side of brussel sprouts: he was very happy. It was tender, light, crunchy and delicious and I don’t cook chicken! The bartender was extremely attentive and we talked to a local couple who us many recommendations for our month here in Santa Fe!
It was a special girlfriend night. I expected the pricing - would have like a bit more
Wowow flavors ..... however it was indeed delicious. Especially the Tuna Tartar !
Blood orange margarita- so delish!
Would have like my duck a bit crusted
Chicken Picatta ( in lunch menu) but available was overpriced @$37.00
Will return for a nice lunch sometime soon .
Private Parking a plus on Canyon Road!!
Everything was Excellent. Will be back. Great bar area with wonderful bar menu.
