Mark Kiffin, celebrated chef, owner, and author of the Compound Restaurant, has won the James Beard Foundation award as one of America's Best Chefs. The Compound is Santa Fe's premier restaurant with Chef Kiffin's acclaimed seasonal Contemporary American cuisine derived from Santa Fe's rich heritage of regional and Mediterranean influences. The New York Times, Gourmet magazine, The Wall Street Journal and Wine Spectator have all selected the Compound as Santa Fe's favorite. Equally impressive is the attentive, highly knowledgeable and friendly staff.
Chef Kiffin's menus focus on the exclusive changes in seasons such as hearty braised dishes in the fall and winter using apples, pears and cider from local harvests, osso bucco and porcini risotto while in spring and summer feature fresh local vegetables and naturally raised organic lamb and delectable strawberries.

First time dining at the Compound and we found the food and the service outstanding. Our server, Emmanuel, was attentive, informative and charming. The Manhattan before dinner was one of the top five I’ve ever had and the pork tenderloin was delicious. Outstanding dining experience. We’ll be back!

The lobster dish was fabulous. Best in town. The corn soup had so many yummy flavors in each bite. The scallops were perfection and the soufflé is what dreams are made of. Great evening!!

We had an amazing dining experience at The Compound! The food was wonderful but our server and the rest of the staff made the night for me and my friends. It was the perfect finish to our trip. I’m looking forward to returning.

The Compound was, as always, reliably excellent food, an engaging and knowledgeable somallier, with superbly prepared and presented food. Service was a bit pedestrian with a long wait between our first and main courses. Very expensive.

We ate at the Compound for a special lunch with out of town friends. The food was outstanding and the ambiance was wonderful as we were lucky enough to sit in a shady table on the patio. We've been to the Compound many times and it never fails to please.

we love this restaurant. every time we are in Santa Fe it is our go to place
the food is sensational, great service and attention. the waitperson knew the wine
and could answer any questions.we had lunch there and would have gone back for dinner but we had opera tickets
our next trip we will do a dinner and a lunch

Service was excellent. The wait staff were knowledgeable without being pushy. Ambiance was good, rather quiet but it was a beautiful evening after the rain. The chef is excellent-I need a signed cookbook!

Somewhat of a sterile ambiance - not sure if it is trying to me coastal city chic or strike a local feeling. Michelin prices are not commensurate with food experience. Would do better to stay in a urban city and eat out there, in terms of value.

Fantastic restaurant.. the food was not only delicious but so well placed on the plate! A must to visit while in Santa Fe.. Alex our bartender was incredible.. one of the best!

Not only were the food and service flawless...as expected, but the wait staff went out of their way to make certain that my daughter's birthday celebration was very special. After bringing out a dessert plate sporting a chocolate Happy Birthday which was very lovely, someone must have heard my daughter's comment about a candle, so the staff brought out another dessert plate with a candle. Over and above the norm.

The best meal of our New Mexico dinners all week visiting from Maui. We really enjoyed the ambiance of the outdoor patio and garden (glad we requested a change from our initial indoor table, which was also lovely). David came around to our table and engaged in delightful enjoyable conversation, and sang the deserved praises of Chef. Perla gave good service and took great photos. Every dish was flawless, and seasonal, tasting like summer: crusty bread, Fried Maryland Soft-Shell with avocado mousse and fresh peas and corn; Corn and Herb souffle (in a quick 11 minutes) with goat cheese and salad; Maine lobster tails with fresh gnocchi excellent, as were Pappardelle pasta with Chanterelle mushrooms (very good, after returning from our recent month in Italy); very good generous side of asparagus with beurre blanc; excellent light tempura-like onion rings of red onion, unlike anything we've had. So much food, we did not have room for the delicious-sounding desserts: homemade ice creams (Earl Grey sounded good) and the Valrhona frozen chocolate with orange blossom ice cream. A wonderful evening, a delightful experience. The perfect way to spend our relaxing Fourth of July holiday on quiet Canyon Road.

Tuna tartare flavorless, beet and feta salad 98% lettuce and carrots, virtually no feta, few if any and only golden beets, beef over cooked.
Halibut okay, special dessert yummy.
Waiter marvelous. With other $$ restaurants available no reason to spend the dollars in mediocrity.

The food was fantastic and beautifully presented. Our server, Alejandro, was wonderful. The patio ambiance was quiet and secluded in the later evening when we had our reservation. The outdoor fireplace and candlelight made for a very romantic atmosphere. I would definitely recommend The Compound for romantic date nights and special occasions.

We were a bit hesitant to go to this restaurant based solely on the name. We had very different images other than the lovely restaurant it is! We requested a nice table on the terrace and were so happy we did! The evening temps in Santa Fe in June are perfect for dining al fresco!

The friendly sommelier assisted us in finding the perfect, full-bodied Pinot Noir from their extensive wine menu. Her knowledge of a great variety of wines was impressive and her suggestion was just perfect!

We both decided to try the chicken breast. Wow! It was so moist and flavorful! It was unlike any chicken we’ve had in other nice restaurants. Served with a grainy mustard sauce over very fresh kale and green beans, it was amazing! Because we had a late lunch, we couldn’t decide if we wanted an appetizer . Our server suggested a wonderful light butter salad with a champagne vinegarette that he split into two servings and it was just right. Perfectly enjoyed while we waited for our entree.

For dessert we shared a Bakewell Tart. Our server guaranteed we would love it and he was right. A combination of cherry jam, dulce de leche, almonds and ice cream it was decadent! A special “Happy Anniversary” plate with bites of sweets was presented to us in recognition of our special occasion. Service is top notch, ambience on the terrace is preferable to inside in our opinion and the food will leave you satisfied!

The food was good, not great but what was really disturbing was the abrupt and rushed service. As soon as we were given menus we were asked what we would like. No time to peruse; luckily we've been there many times, though not recently,so we quickly decided without reading through the menu.
I had notated on the reservations that one of us was gluten free, but no suggestions were made and there is no gluten free "bread or crackers". We were rushed through 3 courses and made it roundtrip back home in much less than an hour. This was not the relaxing lunch we anticipated together, but rushed service so that we assume they could be finished with lunch and go home.

Words do not describe how far our very favorite Saturday lunch have fallen! We are so, so very disappointed. Beet salad is a mystery. Still searching for beets among the giant carrot chunks. The sweetbreads, an all time favourite were absolutely tasteless, and the salmon was tiny and overdone. What has happened? A $200 lunch for two. Our waiter was a lovely man.

Great food. A little stuffy but if that’s what you like servers we’re good but gave a little snobbish vibe. I like to chat a bit. Great chef for sure.
