The Commons Ratings and Reviews
I've been to The Commons before and had excellent food and service. When I went for breakfast on a Saturday morning I was a little disappointed in my meal. I thought I would try something different and ordered the chicken and waffles. The scrambled eggs were fluffy and plentiful, the chicken had a nice crunchy coating but it was bland as it was lacking in seasoning, and the cornmeal waffle was pitiful with two tiny quarters of a round waffle and the flavor was also bland. For $15 it was way overpriced for what you got. However, the coffee was strong and delicious and our server was friendly. If I go back for breakfast, I'll stick with the "classic" breakfast as there was plenty of food and only costs $12.
The Commons remains a good spot for a business lunch if you're in Woodinville or the northern part of Redmond. It doesn't strike me as remarkable in any way, but I like the (1) rustic decor, (2) well curated collection of menu options and (3) easy-going service. I'll be back at the restaurant again soon, I'm sure.
Always love going to the Commons, but this time, it was a little loud at 7 pm on a Friday for dinner with visiting family. Still, I enjoyed the homemade chicken pot pie, which was tasty and huge, plenty for leftovers. The fish and chips looked pretty standard. The surprise treat was the pretzel appetizer, which came with the most amazingly balanced jalapeno bacon cheese dip. Yum!
Tomato Soup - wonderful. Could have had just that, but had the grilled ham and cheese! Yum. Did take half home so I could eat the warmed Chocolate Oatmeal cookie and ice cream. Awesome meal. Oh, and that Bacon Bourbon Bloody Mary..... next time I'll leave room for 2 of those and soup!
We have eaten at the Commons several times. It's always been great. The food this time was "good" but not great. They have a huge problem with flies! Yes - buzzing around your head - all over the place flies. And not just a few - there were tons of them. It was really hard to enjoy our meal. Really distracting and honestly, who wants to eat with flies?! They really need to figure it out. I would recommend to a friend but only after they clean up this problem. Not going back until they do - and I will ask before we make a reservation.
Our group of three friends were staying at the Willows Lodge nearby and had dinner at the Commons on a Saturday night. Our food was great and the servers amazing. In fact, we enjoyed it so much we had bunch there the next morning and were blown away by the quality of food and service. I highly recommend this informal, yet excellent restaurant!
The servers were very accommodating! We were here to celebrate a friend’s birthday and had a reservation for 8. Even though The Commons closed at 9, we never felt rushed and the food came out in a very timely manner. Speaking of the food, everything was delicious, as were the drinks. We all got a range of stuff (burger, salad, steak, grilled cheese and tomato soup, and chicken and waffles) and everyone liked their stuff! The atmosphere was excellent too, great music choices.
Great service! Loved the decor and ambience. Good brunch overall. Not spectacular but Good, well seasoned, well portioned. Coffee was meh. Ordered 3 lattes and was heavy on the milk. French toast on challah bread sounds good but in execution the bread soaks up so much of the syrup it loses the bounce in what you would expect when chewing into French toast. Brioche would be better IMHO. Ordered a side of scrambled eggs for my 1 yr old daughter and they brought it perfect...not seasoned. I feel they pay attention to the details. Love the fact th3 bathroom has a diaper changing station with wipes! Love it. Overall, my experience was so positive I will be coming back.
Had a server named Forest who was simply delightful. Attentive, fun, and engaging. The atmosphere was comfortable and cozy. Ambiance overall was exactly right from the music to the lighting. And the food was incredible - Brussel sprouts are a must and the chopped salad is refreshing and filling. We also got the grilled cheese and tomato soup which was homey yet unique. Overall great experience and wish there was one in our hometown.
