The Commoner - Toronto
Loved the ambiance and the service. I ordered the huevos rancheros and didn’t like it at all. The eggs were basically raw. The truffle fries my partner ordered were very good though. Cool spot, but maybe cook the eggs before putting it on the plate.
Fantastic food, amazing service and a beautiful building are all reasons to give the commoner a try.
The food was great! The environment was beautiful and unique and the price was a good value!
This is our go to restaurant. Great cocktails, great food, friendly efficient staff.
Best staff in town! Great beer menu. Fantastic atmosphere. Sweet brunch.
Friends from out of town
Good experience and we were a table of 12, so not a small party! but, it took over an hour for food to arrive... which felt unnecessary. I would go back for sure, great spot. just dont expect fast service.
Great service and the food was awesome. It's a very comfortable place to head with your friends to watch a game or just catch up over a few drinks. Will definitely go back.
Outstanding food and drink at The Commoner. Our table ordered the tuna tostada, crab cakes, nachos, chicken tacos and French onion soup. Everything was excellent! Highly recommend.
It hits the mark in all areas. Not sure want to call it an upscale pub but it's a great place to get a drink, watch the game or a really good meal.
Always good options for a contemporary pub experience!
Nice atmosphere, good beer and food, excellent service. Recommend! Wish it stayed open a little later.
Food was really good, but the service was incredibly slow. Our drinks sat at the bar for over 10 minutes, food took forever, and it was almost impossible to get the attention of the server. We asked for a dessert menu twice and never ended up getting it...
The staff were so attentive -earned a top tip as a result.
Try 'The Commoner' burger -delish!
Most of the food was good but a couple of dishes really missed the mark. The Chicken Schnitzel was overdone and basically not palatable. his gave my Aunt visiting from Germany a bad impression.
Really love coming here and cauliflower app was great but steak dinner was not as good as it has been on a prior visit. Will be back as the menu is great, service is good and ambiance has a nice casual neighbourhood feel
This was our first visit and our expectations were exceeded. The food was wonderful and reasonably priced. The service was excellent and the ambiance of the restaurant was great. We will be back!!
Great spot that's only a year old. Love the decor here, and the cocktail list is excellent. Solid selection of local beers and ciders, too. Sadly, not a single Canadian wine on the list. A missed opportunity. Brunch offers many tasty options. Lovely patio that has spots outside the railing with mats and water for dogs.
Lots of potential. Tostada was very acidic. Fish was dry. Service is excellent.
Great spot, nice ambiance and could hear my friend chatting. Staff seemed to be understaffed or neglectful. Sat us and forgot us after taking one drink order. Had to go ask for service. Food was good.
delicious food, beautiful well-appointed decor, great staff
We had a few Aperol Spritz and they were lovely! We did not eat but will certainly return for the buffalo cauliflower. Our server Tasha was incredibly sweet and attentive, she is a great asset to the Commoner team.
Food took forever and it wasn’t the best quality. Our server was nice
Solid as always. We particularly liked the addition of some specials to the menu.
Awesome ambiance, good price wines. Service was great.
Food and service were excellent. I'm still looking for a restaurant that isn't too noisy.
We enjoy The Commoner; you have certainly improved the ‘hood! This last visit we sat on the patio in the fading sun, which was lovely. There were a bunch of preteens enjoying the outdoors very exuberantly outside while their parents dined inside. It was a bit loud, but harmless fun,
Good food, fun atmosphere for a group of friends.
Father’s Day. Had a great time. Dad 93. He enjoyed very much. Thank you. We’ve been previously and will return
Great beer selection. Good food.
We absolutely loved The Commoner so much that we went back two nights in a row. What stands out about this restaurant is the stunning Art Deco decor and great atmosphere, paired with the fair priced food and variety of craft beer. It makes for a perfect night out with friends that won’t break the bank. We tried almost all the appetizers and craft beers over the course of both nights. The guacamole, nachos with braised rib and the sliders are what really stood out for us! In terms of drinks, they have a sampler called “flight” where we were able to try 4 different beers and the portion sizes are pretty great. My cousins, husband and I had such an amazing time tasting beer and watching the game. Our waitresses were both wonderful but the lady that served us the first night did a fantastic job! It was pretty busy because of the game but she didn’t miss a beat and really connected with us. On the second night the manager surprised us with a sampler of the most delicious ciders any of us had ever tried. We will definitely be back with a whole posse in tow.
Beautiful restaurant, the service was fine but nothing to write home about. Same with the food.
The food was good - but not spectacular. Service was very good. The restaurant was very, very loud. In fairness, I had read other reviews with comments about the noise level, but decided to find out for ourselves. Because of the decibel level, I doubt we'll try it again.
The food always takes sooo long to come out. Also the potatoes are steeped in grease which gets into everything on your plate
The good folks at the Commoner bent over backwards to help me and my friends celebrate a birthday and cheer on the Raptors as they defeated the Bucks in game 6. I can't praise the host and various wait staff enough: they helped me secure a table for 12 (!!) at the last minute, and attended our every need, including tons of complicated drink orders, lots of food for the table, and generally being around to help us out. It was an outstanding experience across the board. Thank you!
I love this restaurant - I keep coming back here! The service is wonderful and friendly, the drinks are tasty and the food is top notch and amazing value. I love the arugula salad - it's my go-to dinner! The wings and buffalo cauliflower are also awesome. Go visit - it's a beautiful spot!
Discovered this place when it opened last summer and it’s our new favourite go to. Great value. Food is consistent, fresh ingredients and we always leave feeling like we got our money’s worth. Craft beer line up is solid, great handcrafted cocktail list and amazing service. The menu changes seasonally which is nice for variety. Our last visit we ordered the new Power Bowl and it was a hit! Lots of fresh, healthy, hardy ingredients. Although the dressing was a touch spicy for my taste I brought it to my servers attention and they quickly remade me a new one and the manager was sure to follow up to make sure we were happy. I hope this place continues to thrive! 5 stars!
We were so happy with the space! We booked a bit of a last minute birthday brunch and the high top tables worked perfectly. We had a group of 14. The staff were accommodating and made booking totally stress free.
Service was fast. Everyone was very happy with their food. Great space, great food and nice staff. Our new neighborhood go to.
Lovely space, lovely people. Ordered salads. Power bowl is actually fairly small considering the name and the price. Arugula goat cheese beet salad was tasty except VERY much 90% arugula, under seasoned. Grilled chicken add on was good on flavour but so dry I had to find bits of avo and goats cheese or dressed in my salad to choke it down with. This place is overpriced for the portion sizes and the flavour doesn’t live up to the space or vibe. Too bad.
Great food, service and ambience. A little on the expensive side.
It was Mother's Day AND Raptors Game 7 so all in all a really special evening!
