Great food and good service. A little slow to come check on us sometimes and to get the check to leave, though the restaurant was not too crowded. Enjoyed the pork tenderloin and beat salad. The cheesecake custard desert is a like a deconstructed cheesecake in a bowl. Interest and good textures, but a little too sweet. The Mon Manhattan was a simple and delicious cocktail. Love the decor and setting of the restaurant.

I visited The Commoner on Fathers Day. With reservations, my party was seated immediately and greeted by our waitress. So no wait time. Fantastic! Orders placed for food and beverage quickly. Kitchen somehow lost our order so we had to reorder verbally with our waitress but it did not cause too big of an impact to our wait time. We ordered the Malted Waffle and Crab Omelet. Both were good. The pistachio butter on the waffle was unique and delicious. Waffle was cooked perfectly crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. Crab omelet was good but the sauce is very rich so it may be hard for some to eat all of it. The potatoes were great and we also ordered bacon on the side. The bacon was edible but a bit overcooked resulting in a dried pork. Cocktail drinks were delicious as well. All in all the food and service was great. I would return. The only negative was parking. They offer valet for $12, so we took advantage of this. We pulled our car to the curb where the parking attendant told us to stop and we paid him the $12. Our car stayed there the entire time so they technically didn’t park our car, we did. Yet we still had to pay the $12. We opted to still give a small tip but honestly we shouldn’t have since they didn’t have to get in our car and move it. Next time we will self park in the Mellon Sq garage for a little cheaper and walk 30 yds maybe.

We had a wonderful meal at the Commoner. The atmosphere was lovely with good lighting. Out food was delicious. I highly recommend the spicy crab dish. It was incredibly flavorful and great to share. Our server, George, was professional and attentive. We really couldn’t ask for more. We will certainly return our next trip to Pittsburgh

We eat at The Commoner many times throughout the year, and this was the first time dining with their new dinner menu. Wish we could go back in time because the previous menu had things that everyone in our group absolutely loved. Their new 'mains' are very lacking of explanation and our waitress did not do a great job explaining them. Each 'main' is one word and it is difficult to understand how the listed ingredients work. The pork belly is no longer on the menu and neither are a few other things we always ordered. The bartenders were working hard and the drinks are always good.
