At our gastropub, we don’t distinguish between commoners and kings; we just want to feed the good people of Pittsburgh. In the restaurant, seasonal menus add a modern flair to classic comforts, complemented by a robust selection of local beers and craft spirits. It’s all served in an industrial-inspired setting in downtown Pittsburgh. Come and join us for an uncommonly good time.

In person dining was great. We also had room service and found that disappointing. My daughter ordered a steak that came (along with all the items) in a brown box with a plastic knife. It was impossible to eat that way. Breakfast in person was great though.
Very nice atmosphere. Cocktail was outstanding. Beet salad was above average. The steak was above average but I definitely would go back here. It is a definite day to day type of place. Tried some of my Dads cavatelli and that was outstanding.
Too pricey for what you get. Paid for “amazing”, and got “pretty good”.
I love this restaurant - my only complaint was the sous-vide beef - my mother requested this $40 meal be cooked rare, but that was not possible due to it being cooked to medium-rare sous-vide and finished on a grill. This resulted in a medium - medium-well steak (it was less done on one end). That's disappointing... I wouldn't want to pay that much for a steak that can be done to my preferences. Also, the twice-baked potato that came with it looked like it sat under a heat lamp for 20 minutes.
Food, service, and ambiance are outstanding! Had brunch and the avocado toast with crab salad and a side of maple glazed bacon were absolutely delicious! Drinks were tasty as well. Will definitely return!
Thank you for a perfect Mother’s Day brunch.
Really great spot for brunch! Make a reservation, saw quite a few people get turned away. The avocado toast with spicy crab on sourdough bread was SO good. Others at the table for the chicken and waffles, classic benedict and the malted waffle and everyone said theirs were delicious. Also got a side of shoestring fries and maple bacon. YUM! Great atmosphere and our server was very good. We will definitely be back to dry dinner and brunch again. Highly Recommend!!
Enjoyable brunch-only complaint was that they were out of several items in the menu
Went for Sunday brunch. Absolutely amazing everything! The server and bartender were fantastic...can’t wait to go back.
Made a reservation for two and had to wait a bit for seating even though tables were open. Food was very bland considering the price. Cocktails were good and well presented. Service was meh, all of the employees looked miserable and the waiter rushed me to order food and asked if I knew what my partner wanted when he wasn’t there. Environment was great but does not match the service and food
Visiting PGH and had a group of six. Food was great, our server was A+++
I adore this restaurant but the menu is much much smaller due to covid. Signature cocktail list is 3/10.
I came in for a happy hour with my friends. I certainly enjoyed my cocktails and appetizers. The waitress was so friendly!!!
Very good food, the service was outstanding. Pretty limited menu but nice choices and a good wine list too.
Great brunch food. Responsive staff. A couple larger parties increased noise level but was still a nice pregame day experience.
Hostess told us to wait at the bar until our reserved table was available Noticed empty tables 20 minutes later and asked for our table and she said oh I thought you decided to eat at the bar...truly lame. Seated with a view of kitchen and the head cook never once put his mask on...hope he's been vaccinated
Food good however
Espresso martinis and crispy potatoes app 10/10 would recommend!!!
Excellent vibe, drinks, food.
The dishes were truly outstanding and memorable. And the specialty cocktails were excellent too.
Food and drinks were excellent and the staff was so friendly and relaxed despite how busy it was in the dining room. Will always come back here
The restaurant seemed understaffed and the wait time was extremely long. We received the wrong meal and then waited a long time for the replacement. The food was average and not worth the price point.
Cocktails were great, as were the beef tartare and crispy potatoes appetizers. The entrees and the accompaniments, however, were very under-seasoned.
The scallops were absolutely fantastic and cooked to perfection. The service was fantastic, and they accommodated my dietary needs with professionalism and kindness.
Great food and atmosphere. Need a few more items on the dinner menu.
Worth the value with good ambience
Great weekend brunch. Awesome atmosphere. Great tasting food.
The food was fantastic. The server, Becca, was perfect. We couldn’t have asked for more. The crispy potato and Taleggio fondue was amazing. Crisp and fluffy in the middle. Scallops were perfectly seared and the cook was perfect. The pork loin was also cooked perfectly and the Brussels sprouts were slightly charred and still a bit al dente. We had the chocolate ganache for dessert and were fighting over the last bite. I’ll definitely be back.
Food was over priced for the quality and being a hotel restaurant. Server didn’t see knowledgeable about the menu or restaurant.
Good food and service.
We had the lamb meatballs and crispy potatoes for appetizers. They were delicious! Unique and scrumptious. Then we had the scallops and salmon for entrees. Equally delicious! And then we had the cheesecake custard for dessert. Wonderful. I've never had anything like that.
Our server, Becca, was excellent. Professional, courteous, knowledgeable. Everything that you want a server to be.
I highly recommend this place. I use a wheelchair, and it was completely accessible. There was an elevator from the hotel lobby that goes straight into the restaurant.
The food was amazing and the restaurant was set up to make us feel safe. Really nice experience.
Host greeted us with a "Happy Birthday!" which was a nice touch. Service was perfect - not overbearing at all, while still attentive enough. Food was perfectly acceptable, just didn't knock my socks off. The best part of the pandemic is that the tables are spaced far apart!!! Will go again.
Our waitress was awesome. That's saying a lot for Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh service is weird, even in modern trendy places like this. Potatos were awesome, beets amazing, and their burger is perfect, hot juicy and unpretentious, just a burger with a dope sauce worth all the $16. My wife ordered her $40 steak well done, and I lit my cigar with 2 $20 bills and served her divorce papers for that sin.
We loved the place! Food, atmosphere, and service was tremendous.
One of the best restaurants in Pittsburgh!
Really good brunch! Better than I expected and the drinks were amazing
Great food, service and atmosphere! Tried the avocado toast and it was amazing!
The food was not what I was expecting. The atmosphere was fine.
We went for my boyfriend's birthday on Friday. He ordered the burger, which did not have pickles listed on the menu and was very surprised when he bit into it. He despises pickles and it ruined the burger for him and he couldn't even eat it. Every else is listed under the burger except for the pickles. If you're going to put them on the burger then it needs to be added to the menu. The waiter saw that he had only taken one bite out of the burger and didn't ask why. We are too non-confrontational to ask for a new burger. Please add pickles to the menu under the burger.
I’m a regular guest at the Commoner and it’s always a good time.
