At our gastropub, we don’t distinguish between commoners and kings; we just want to feed the good people of Pittsburgh. In the restaurant, seasonal menus add a modern flair to classic comforts, complemented by a robust selection of local beers and craft spirits. It’s all served in an industrial-inspired setting in downtown Pittsburgh. Come and join us for an uncommonly good time.

WOW! so glad to find this gem! The beet starter was amazing! I had the salmon and my hubby had the strip! Both were prepares perfectly and the flavor was perfection. Delicious cocktails and super friendly service! will do again!
Great atmosphere. The brunch was delicious. Wonderful service. Great experience.
Disappointed that the breakfast menu didn’t have some healthier options as posted on the website…no oatmeal, yogurt, etc.
Also, coffee wasn’t great, no gluten free toast option at all.
However, the maple glazed bacon was awesome.
Incredible food and incredible service! Loved the atmosphere as well. Definitely will be returning!
Service from the second we walked in, to the bartenders, and then our waitress was all superb. Can't wait to go back!
The cocktails are outstanding!
Excellent food and service. We went for brunch and they were sold out of waffles and pork belly so go early for the most options. The shoestring fries were a yummy indulgence. Good portions. We will be back.
Waitress had too many tables-she couldn’t keep up with all the tables. Not all food delivered, received one item after all other items consumed. Delayed time with drinks. Was just an ok experience.
Jen was amazing and took great care of us!!!! Food was delish, potatoes especially; but portion sizes were small to me.
Normally I love this place but this time we went there for my sister’s bachelorette and ordered brunch. The aperol spritz was too bitter I had to send it back, the toast with
my avocado was burnt, and we were rushed to order before 2 pm because they were closing. They shouldn’t have reservations for 1:30 pm available if their kitchen closes at 2pm. I won’t be going back here for a while especially for the price we paid for food and The portion wasn’t that great.
The kitchen closes at 1:30- the same time as our reservation, which they presumably approved beforehand.
Excellent service and food. Burger was one of the best we have had.
Friendly, happy up-scale gastropub environment. Loved the iceberg wedge - almost a meal in itself. The salmon on a bed of esquites (a type of corn) was to die for! Friendly, helpful server.
I made a dinner reservation for my boss for a business dinner. She took out a colleague from California that she hasn't seen in almost two years. The waiter kept pressing them to order and tried to hurry them. They explained that they were catching up and needed some time. He disregarded their pleas and kept bugging them. This made for a terrible meal experience.
Wonderful place for Sunday brunch. All of our meals were delicious. Nice specialty cocktails.
The Commoner was excellent! They were able to accommodate our last-minute reservation change. The food was delicious--3 of us shared 4 different dishes and the avocado toast with crab meat was a clear winner. The décor made our brunch visit extra special. Don't miss this restaurant in the beautiful Hotel Monaco in Pittsburgh!
Really enjoyed the food and the service. Limited menu but still interesting and delicious options.
Awesome atmosphere with amazing food. They took our appetizer off the bill as an anniversary gift. Well worth the price!
We were very happy with the service and the food was excellent.
A+ experience at the Commoner. The industrial chic vibe was really cool and enjoyed having a somewhat open kitchen. Asparagus/Burrata and Beef Tartare to start were outstanding and we followed with the Halibut and Salmon - both were unique and cooked perfectly. Art was an outstanding server and the food was truly top notch. High marks and will strongly recommend to others.
We were extremely pleased with the Commoner. We were a party of 8 and our server had no trouble handling us efficiently. The bartender is excellent. Cocktails were all amazing. Everyone was raving over their food. Great experience and great food.
Great food and really great service. We will look forward to seeing you again.
Loved the asparagus starter & the scallops with risotto were amazing. The chocolate ganache was heavenly-stayed for creative cocktails too. Terrific service and chill space.
First of all, the bar service is excellent. The bartenders were very nice and the cocktails were delicious. I had the “is that a cucumber in your pants” -delicious. My friends had the melon something something something. Also, delicious. We were seated and looking forward to our meal. The commoner has been a long time favorite. Our table ordered steak tartare, beets, foccacia, burrata and asparagus and the wedge salad. For 5 adults and a child. Our waiter informed us that we had ordered more than enough for the table. We replied that we knew what we wanted. He again said that it was really enough. That’s when the service tanked. He came back sporadically. We would be sitting with empty beverages for 5-10 minutes. 3 times he didn’t ask us if we’d like refills. He was rude and brusque. Almost accusatory in tone. It was like he was bothered by our presence. This description doesn’t read as uncomfortable as it was. We ordered entrees- strip, burger, cavatelli and pork chop. all delicious. We ordered dessert. The cheesecake wasn’t my favorite, but the chocolate was good. We paid the check, the dishes were not cleared but he took our receipt while we were still seated. At over 500$ for dinner and drinks, I would expect to be treated a bit better, especially when it wasn’t a busy night.
Absolutely no plant based/vegan options which is strange since this is an upscale restaurant. I was expecting more. It’s not hard to include at least one option on the menu….it’s 2021, even McDonald’s and Burger King have vegan options.
My friend is gluten free as well and they couldn’t accommodate her either so she ordered salmon that was undercooked and we sent back. Our server was very nice and the drinks and ambiance were nice but otherwise disappointing.
Awesome food, excellent service
I attended Brunch with a Sister Friend to celebrate her birthday. Our waitress was extremely personable and knew everything about the menu and cocktails. Excellent experience!
Such a cute place with a fun vibe! Almost has a speakeasy feel. Food was excellent! We loved it during our visit to Pittsburgh!
The food was mediocre. The chicken could have been crispier and the waffle was just okay. The environment and the waitress we had was amazing.
Dinner was delectable and service was excellent. And what a beautiful dining room; amazing ambiance. Love this spot!
The food is good, but they have not increased their menu offerings since Covid and it’s too limited. Won’t go back for a while.
Always love the food and service. New menu items are always good and welcomed.
I have food allergies and there wasn’t really anything for me to eat. I ended up having a burger on a plate and paid full price for it while being offered nothing else.
I used to come here a lot before covid and I hope the menu gets bigger soon.
The food and service was amazing. I had the salmon and it might have been the best salmon I ever had. The asparagus appetizer is also amazing!
Kierstin was a great and the food outstanding. Would definitely recommend
The Commoner is becoming one of my favorite “special occasion” restaurants in the city. The food and cocktails were spectacular: we had the beets and focaccia appetizers to start, and then the pork chop and salmon mains—all of them were absolutely delicious. We also had the chocolate ganache and the cheesecake custard desserts to finish, and these were also amazing (though we couldn’t finish them because we’d cleaned every single plate that had been put in front of us beforehand). The service was wonderful: we got enough attention but not too much, and our server and the kitchen paced the food really well—we weren’t rushed but we also didn’t have to wait too long between courses. The space isn’t quiet, but the ambiance walks a nice line between comfortable and up-scale. Overall, 10 out of 10, would dine again!
While understaffed, they worked hard to please us. Server John is terrific. Focaccia was great, but not heated. Great cavatelli
Excellent service, food and atmosphere in downtown Pittsburgh.
It was fabulous! It is one of our favorite restaurants because of the wonderful food, staff, and ambiance!
Wonderful brunch with a friend who came in from NYC. Bloody Larry and Aperol Spritz were wonderful. Love to come here when I have friends in from out of town. Great brunch.
