The Colden Mill Restaurant
The filet was delicious and my boyfriend loved the fish fry! Super quaint and cozy atmosphere.
Great service , food and atmosphere! Would definitely go again and recommend to others!
It was an all around perfect dining experience. From a friendly staff to excellent food. Dinner rolls, appetizers and main course! Very pleased and relaxing!
Both strip steak and salmon were very good. Another enjoyable evening.
Took my husband there for his birthday- they were very nice and personable. Plan to go back in warmer weather to sit out on the deck. This a wonderful restaurant tucked away in a quiet little town in WNY. Worth the drive down to make an evening out of it.
This is our favorite restaurant! Every time I fly up from Florida we plan a meal here. The French onion soup two ways is the most delicious soup I've ever had!
Let me start by saying that we went on Valentine's Day which I know is a busy day to dine out. We had to order from a special menu which came with very small side salads. It was odd that they brought out the salads before the appetizers (usually other way around). I will say the entrees were delicious. I had the filet mignon & my husband had crab legs. It went down hill after that. We ordered dessert and after 20 min. still hadn't received it. We then asked the waitress for it "to go" which she seemed annoyed with and then waited another 10 min. for our bill (which we had to flag down another waitress for because ours was MIA). Finally the boxed desserts came out. They were just thrown in the container & not even intact when we got them home. The 7.50 pineapple cheesecake was a sliver. The food & ambiance was good, but the service was just too slow! Waiting 20 min for a beer or wine or dessert is way to long! My husband does not want to return!
Had to wait an hour past our reservation time. Owner bought us a round of drinks as we waited to long. Soup and shrimp appetizer was good. My steak pasta was so salty it was inedible and made me feel sick the next day. Everyone was nice and it was a cute restaurant, just not worth the hour wait.
Always fantastic meal service and ambiance!!
Food and atmosphere we're great. The meatloaf was delicious. The service started off strong and fizzled after food was delivered. We waited over 20 minutes for our check and had to track down the hostess to get the bill.
Food was excellent as was the service. room was a bit loud and it was a bit chilly near the window.
But the view out the window was beautiful. Will definitely return, did not realize we had this gem in the south towns.
Large portions ,excellent flavor .I had the special chicken pot pie and my wife had the tenderloin pasta with a very nice and large salad. We'll plan to return often
The menu offers something for everyone.
The combination of ingredients used in the dishes will please a variety of palates.
Very cool ambiance and decorations. Rustic. Excellent food. Great place to meet friends and family or just have a date night.
Everything I had was excellent. Normally there is always one thing that is just okay but all the food was outstanding. They were out of a few things but I would rather that than get food that is leftover. We will be back!
Food was excellent! I had mushroom risotto with sirloin steak & my husband had filet mignon-delicious! Great wine selection, salads were large, fresh - it was a great dining experience & we will definitely go back.
This a wonderful spot. Well worth the drive. The staff is friendly and the food is always great. Perfect for special occasions.
Great food, love the Potatoes Au gratin, but limited gluten free options.
Celebrated our birthdays here. Quiet and romantic. Asked for a quiet table and was happy they obliged. Jackie was an amazing waitress and added value to our visit. Food was perfect and full of flavor. This place will definitely go to our places to visit again. We were also visited by the owner to make sure we were enjoying our food.
The service was very good but the food was poor to fair at best.
We were seated at the front window and able to view the early evening Fall scenery. The food was delicious with very eye- pleasing presentations. Our waitress, Brittany, made the experience even more enjoyable with her sweet personality while taking care of anything we needed. This is definetely a return dining choice for us in the future.
Friendly staff, great ambiance
Cocktails, appetizers, main course excellent!!
The Colden Mill is one of our favorite places to celebrate special times. We love everything about it!
As always an exceptional meal. Have been there multiple times and have tried pretty much the whole menu. Have never been disappointed. Atmosphere and food is just outstanding. We are very picky about food and have never had an issue, great presentation of the food. Just love the place, recommend it to all.
Our first trip out to Colden on a warm late summer evening. We sat on the patio among the trees. Excellent service, very good appetizers, and my wife enjoyed the buttermilk chicken. The trout was a little on the dry side, but overall the meal was fine and definitely a good value. We will make the drive out again soon.
Very cute place. The service was a little slow but the food was fantastic.
The portion size was more than I could eat.
It was a 45 minute drive for us so I'm not sure I'd go back unless I was
in the neighborhood. Loved the décor!
For starters, the hostess was anything but hospitable, feigning little interest (if any) in our arrival. We were seated outside, and for 20 minutes promptly IGNORED. ALL of the other tables were being served - one adjacent to us cleaned TWICE by the server without ANY acknowledgement we even existed. Finally, the "topper": a couple seated 22 minutes after we arrived IMMEDIATELY served and given water, list of specials etc. When we had enough - and finally left - and I confronted the server about the situation - she meekly stated, "sorry, it's the "rotation". Huh? Needless to say, we won't be returning.
This was our first time at Colden Mill. We will definitely be going back. Food, service, and ambiance top notch. Owner came to tables to chat with diners.
Stumbled across this restaurant on Open Table and was so glad I did. While the inside of restaurant is like walking into a history museum, the menu was full of yummy, new dishes. The pesto mashed potatoes, beef medallions, chicken rosemary soup with couscous...delightful. Yummy cocktails. Desserts were only so-so - but the entrees were wonderful!
Took out-of-town family for dinner. They loved it as much as we do. It's our "go-to" place! Fodd was outstanding as always. Be sure to leave room for the apple fritters with home made ice cream!
It's a fast drive from Hamburg to Colden Mills. Hadn't been there in a couple years....but pleasantly surprised that food choices ranged from comfort to traditional....but very well done.
Trout was very good. Also the chicken and tortellini was very good.
We have been here a col times before but not in a year or so. We had a couple specialty cocktails that were good. I had the razz lemonade, it was very sweet. We had the pork belly appetizer, it was ok, not as good as other places I have had it. Might have been in the deep fryer a tiny bit too long. My wife really liked her eddplant parm. I had the buttermilk deep fried cuz breast. The cuz was ok nothing special, the breading fell off like a shell and I noticed that some parts of the breading were much darker that others. The garlic mashed potatoes were very tasty. We will go back but I'm not planning on getting that again. The service was good and we very much like the setting there.
We just returned from wintering in Naples, Florida (which has great restaurants). Colden Mill topped them all. We'll be back A LOT.
Our first time there and it was a very positive experience. Want to go back and sit indoors next time.
My wife’s trout was very good cooked well and sauce was very good. My tuna was cooked perfect and again sauce was very good.
Another very good dinner. I had the citrus tuna which was cooked perfectly. My wife’s strip steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly also. This restaurant is a gem in colden.
We arrived 15 min before our reservation so we went to the bar for a drink before we could be seated. The owner -Chuck-was tending bar and he was funny and very personable. My husband enjoys craft beers and each time he requested another beer, the kegs were empty and honestly Chuck felt bad, however it became humorous for us. We then were seated, and although a little frustrating (40 minutes and tables were open) we also understand staffing issues. We were "forgotten" again and went up to the bar to get another glass of wine and a beer. The wait staff and owner were very apologetic again. The food!! Well worth the wait!! Everything was delicious, hot and tasty. We were very well taken care of despite the hiccups in seating and ordering. We love it here and we will be back!
Outstanding service and food
Colden Mill is our go-to for date night. Never have to worry about a bad meal. Dinner is always outstanding. And be sure to leave room for the apple fritters and home made ice cream!
