The Coach Makers Arms
Across our beautifully restored three floors you will find a bustling ground floor bar, bright and relaxed first floor dining room and the lower ground floor hideaway bar “The 72”.
Offering a large array of beers in bottle and on tap, as well as wines and cocktail, alongside our all-day menu with a selection of daily specials written on large black boards on both the ground and first floor.
The Coach Makers Arms is a neighbourhood pub and dining room, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, we offer something for everyone at all times of day.
Service was intrusive - inexperienced waitress.
Food was very slow to arrive (although dining room less than half full). One main course arrived and it was a further wait before the other two main courses arrived which meant that the first main course was cold before we started eating.
Really unhappy about being dictated to by the waitress about a small (and unadvertised) sum being added to the bill for a charity. I donate regularly to a number of charities and object to being “charity chugged” in a restaurant. As we had asked for two separate bills we were charged this sum twice. It was not a nice feeling to ask the waitress to take it off the bill.
We are from Honolulu and had the Best food experience ever! Every dish we ordered was over the top!
Good gastro-pub style food, round table for four of us which was very sociable. Decent wine lost, not crazy prices so would certainly recommend.
This is lovely casual dining spot with good food and wine. The staff are relaxed and friendly. It is a regular haunt.
The menu varies but always has a good selection to cover most tastes. The regular pies take you back to your mothers cooking but more exotic offers around meat and fish allows you to enjoy new tastes and experience.
Thank you for another lovely experience
We've been to The Coach Makers Arms a few times now and always have an enjoyable meal. Food is always delicious and well presented. Menu changes regularly. Good choice of wines. Great staff - just the right level of friendly.
Lovely food! Service could use a little bit of additional training. Waitress didn't know their wine list and interrupted our conversation a few times when it wasn't necessary.
Great food and great service
A definite must eat location in the West End
Myself and 6 friends came to celebrate my birthday. The food was good but I had expected better given the prices. Overall it was an enjoyable evening
The food was very goo. My ribeye steak was perfectly cooked and the chips were just right. The only real let down was that the staff were a bit disorganised, so the service wasn't great. But, not so poor that it would affect my decision on whether to return - which I will.
Great food with great service in an upscale pub restaurant upstairs. Sunday roast is excellent.
Nice gastro pub style food with very friendly and helpful staff. We sat in the upstairs dining room on a Saturday night. It was busy but not too crowded and we felt well looked after.
Fabulous food and friendly service. My lamb was perfectly cooked and the saute potatoes were divine!
The food was tasty enough but service was quite shoddy. Am
Not sure if staff were new but just generally not up to standard in most areas of service. Decent value price wise and good wine list
We absolutely loved our lunch. We were a party of 5 and were seated at a great table in a bay window. Everyone enjoyed the lunch, the food was excellent and the service in the restaurant was great - really friendly staff who were very attentive. Our only negative was the bar on ground level as the barman was very grumpy. One of us ordered a gin martini with vermouth, he disappeared for 10 mins whisky a queue was forming and seemed a bit perplexed about being asked to make one. Another party member asked for a sparkling water and again said that the barman was grumpy! A great place apart from the grumpy bar man and would recommend as the dining on the first floor was excellent.
Coachmakers is a great pub for drinks but a bit uneven on the food part. This particular evening the fryer was apparently broken so they couldn't make any fries, chips or similar. We only found out about this because we were ordering steaks and asked to change the chips to fries. When my friend first ordered her steak they didn't mention it at all, so it seemed like they had just forgot about it. Also, consdering most dishes had fries or chips as the side dish, you would think this would be something they would tell you straight off the bat, as we most likely actually would have gone to another pub for dinner had we known as there were now no side dishes that were that appealing.
We were pleasantly surprised by how delicious the food was. There is a small menu on Saturday but everything is cooked perfectly. Kids meals were presented beautifully and substantial (reflecting the £8 price), the ribeye steak tender and cooked perfectly with a beautifully reduced sauce.
Our experience was great service & food. Sunday night roasts were fantastic.
It was very cold in the restaurant. The heating did not appear to be working which spoiled the whole event... It would be good to get some recompense..
New server so she was inexperienced. The drinks came late, food took ages and was not explained correctly
Super choice for 5 guests on Sat eve, seated in beautiful round bay overlooking quaint Marylebone streets. Friends visiting from US loved it! Food lovely.
Good fish & chips but extremely small portions for the premium price
This restaurant is above a pub in Marylebone Lane. It is a lovely old pub with a lot of character. The seating is standard for a restaurant of this type. The menu is varied from babied fish and chips to steaks as well as an interesting themed menu, "goatober" during our visit. This was a menu of all things goat.
the goat loin was excellent, as was the fish and chip and the hake. The pies and often the flat iron steak are sold out early so yo might miss them
the plum and blackberry crumble is excellent but the Dark chocolate & sour cream cheesecake was disappointing.
The wine list is fairly extensive, a little overprices but you will find something to suit at a reasonable price.
the service was patchy but the staff lovely.
well worth a visit but just misses on becoming a favourite.
The first floor dining room is a lovely space. Excellent and interesting food choices (rabbit was superb) and friendly staff.
We saw a mouse running around on the floor...the food was ok, the service was a bit slow due to understaff
Got a voucher from Travel zoo - £40 for two which was a tremendous deal- as allowed a stater . main and sweet off the main menu ( rarely allowed on these voucher deals) and a glass of prosecco. The food was all very nice, service good and the general atmosphere in the pretty upstairs dining room very pleasant. A very enjoyable and good value evening
Very disappointing visit. Food not exactly amazing for the price- mine just tasted of salt. Very poor wine list - basically expectation was to spend £40 upwards. The staff admitted there was a whole in the wine list ( for decent reasonably priced wines) I’ve been to the Grazing Goat ( a sister venue) many times which I like...... this is not as good and there are a lot better places for a Sunday lunch in the area!
Went there for Sunday lunch with a friend and was not disappointed. As it is October, the restaurant are having a Goatober month, we both had the shoulder croquette with beetroot for starters and the goat burger for mains. Both absolutely delicious. The burger was juicy, filled with spinach and bacon jam. Lovely meal. Try the plum and blackberry crumble which is made of oats. Very filling and definitely a good ending to a gourmet lunch.
The staff were very good, attentive and professional.
Thank you for arranging for changing arrival time.
We had a lovely early supper here. Emma, the Maitre D' was exceptional - warm, friendly, engaging and accommodating. The upstairs dining room has large glass windows and a quirky but intimate ambience. We would definitely go again.
This is a light, airy dining room. Lovely staff. Really appreciated that we didn't have to compete with background music. There is a time limit tho on the tables, we went elsewhere for coffee as we felt we may be rushed.
Nice food but service was a bit slow which was surprising given the restaurant was empty
The dining room is gorgeous and the food wonderful. What a find! Will definitely come again.
A great place to meet friends for a leisurely lunch. Good food, well presented and some interesting specials. We didn't order wine but the beer was well served. Recommended.
Perfect for our 35th wedding anniversary celebration supper with family:) Superb food, served by a very attentive waiter in lovely surroundings! We couldn't have asked for more, thank you to all at The Coachmakers
Extremly noisy. We also got steak that was complitly ruined.
Great food, lovely veggie choices too. Original twist of favourites i.e. beetroot tarte tartin and then courgette flowers stuffed with hummus type filling - all delicious. Meat eaters loved pie of the day special and the steaks. All 5 of us had different choices and no one was disappointed. Would thoroughly recommend a visit. Easy to book a table and great service
Excellent food and customer service. Small let down was to find two items not ordered on the bill which were taken off after mentioning them. Small friendly restaurant above a pub.
Really like this pub as the main bar is quite lively and has a good selection of beers, wines and spirits. The dining room ins upstair and is usually very quiet. There were 5 of us and everyone had a good meal except me. Ordered the ribeye steak and I wasn't impressed with the cut. Lots of sinew, very thin cut and not cooked particularly well. Disappointing for the price. However, everyone else really enjoyed their meals and we had a couple of lovely bottles of wine. Not the cheapest of places but I would go again and try something else.
First visit, and had a lovely Sunday dinner with the family. We had sharing a roast of Cote de boeuf, which was enjoyed by all.
Great comfort food with high quality produce and attention to detail. Friendly staff, beautiful dining room. Will be back often.
