The Clubhouse - Oak Brook Ratings and Reviews
Our party of 9 went for the Santa Brunch. We made early reservations and were very glad we did. We enjoyed our table in the Board Room -- nice and quiet. Food choices for ages 2-70 were excellent. No one was disappointed. Quality of the food was excellent, and of course a lovely picture with Santa topped off a very good morning indeed!
The only disappoint is that our server never told us the specials. After we had ordered and gotten our food did we hear him tell the next 3 tables of his that there were specials and described them in detail. Have only come to the clubhouse for brunch so we didn’t know there were daily specials.
The night we attended the restaurant was having a private party in the bar area which closed off the whole area meaning you couldn't get a drink while you were waiting for a table. Bad planning on the restaurant's part. We asked if there was another bar and were told no by the hostess. I know there is a bar upstairs but I guess they weren't there to accommodate waiting guests.
I asked the waitress about the sauce on the shrimp diavolo and she said it was a white wine sauce. Very misleading. It is actually more of a creamy butter sauce. I wouldn't have ordered it had I known that.
The waitress spent a lot of time chatting at the table next to us and other's had to pick up the slack at our table and others. I appreciate that she was friendly but she needs to be attentive to all tables.
The whole downstairs was rented out for a private party including the bar. We could not get a drink before dinner on a Saturday night. What a joke. The hostess said they make a lot of money with private parties. The prime rib was overdone but the filet was cooked perfect. Not sure i would go back after closing the bar for a private party.
i have been attending the Clubhouse for many years and usually during the Christmas Holidays , and have to say I was disappointed during this visit. The food was just average for both of us, rather warm and somewhat processed without attention to what was going to be served the patron.
The service was attentive and prompt which is good to see even when busy.
A large party was going on and I feel that these absorb a lot of attention away from the tables with only two or four guests.
I will attend again but with caution and will call out any problems immediately .
Not a great experience. The host staff was rude and inconsiderate. First, they put us next to a large group full of loud and rambunctious kids. When we politely asked for another table (it was my husband's birthday and we were there with his parents), the hostess looked annoyed but set the staff to work on setting another table. The seemed to have forgotten us at that point. They left us standing in the room and almost set up the new table with 3 of the 4 chairs, crammed against a railing. No one came back to seat us or let us know it would be a few more minutes, etc. They didn't seem to notice us standing awkwardly in the room at all. In the meantime, another table with 4 chairs became available and I walked over to ask the hostess could we sit there. She actually told me no, that it was for people who had reservations! We had reservations and had been standing patiently, awkwardly, while they found a location more conducive to adult conversation! Once we were finally seated at the table that actually had enough chairs for our group, our waiter actually came by and asked for my name again to match against our reservations. Couldn't believe it. We had checked in with the hostess downstairs and she had the reservation when she sent us upstairs. What a confused mess. I don't plan to return but the hostesses should really check their attitudes and try to remember that people are there to have an enjoyable meal. We didn't let them ruin our meal and fortunately we did have an excellent waiter, who made up a lot for the poor service. Food was also very good.
BTW - first negative review I've ever posted.
Everything about this experience was great except the valet service. We arrived around 6:45 and valeted our car. When we went to leave at 8:20 there was no one at the valet stand. We waited about 5 minutes and then back inside to inquire about the valet. The manager came out and looked around and said the valet should be back shortly. We waited another 5-8 minutes and went back inside. This time one of the hostesses said “oh the Valet left these keys here - are these yours?” Well yes they were but then we had to find our car! The Manager said the valet service was not associated with the restaurant... but really if they park cars fir your customers- they are. Moral of the story is eat here as everything was wonderful but don’t valet your car!
First time here, ordered the simple grilled fish. Came raw (6mo pregnant here), so had to wait another 20 minutes for a chicken sandwich which was not good. Then they charged for the meal anyways, which at this point the 3 kids we had in tow were all past their breaking point and clearly needed to leave. Not a good experience.
Wonderful service from the valet greeting, the hostesses, the server, the chefs, and the waitstaff. They run an organized buffet and were working very hard to keep everything refilled and clean. There were so many offerings, a great selection for kids, and a huge dessert selection. I highly recommend this holiday brunch and appreciate everyone working on the holidays.
Thanksgiving Brunch, an excellent experience. Excellent and attentive waitstaff, excellent food. Great variety. From breakfast food, i.e., made to order omelette set al, to traditional Thanksgiving food to prime rib, fine dining food, all delicious. That's why we keep returning.
We met to celebrate a friend's birthday and we are members of the rewards program, but that isn't necessarily what brought us there. We had a GREAT waitress -- unfortunately I am very bad in remembering names. Four of us dined and we all enjoyed our choices.
My wife and I went to the Clubhouse for a "date night." She ordered the pork chops and they were excellent. I ordered the Shrimp and Grits because I like this dish and it was advertised as having the grits flavored with cheese and jalapeno's. Unfortunately, while the shrimp was great the grits were totally unflavored/plain with none of the cheese or jalapeno's in evidence. I reported this to our server but she said that since the grits were made in a large batch any remake wouldn't have the flavors/spices advertised.
We've eaten at the Clubhouse many times before but this time the food was disappointing.
Oysters were disgusting; desserts not good... brunch is over priced for the quality of food. They have had the same brunch for years and really need to start cooking with higher quality ingredients. Will not be going back.
