   Still serves great food at a reasonable price, staff are always friendly and helpful which adds to the overall experience. Well done for keeping standards high.

   Beautiful afternoon tea. Scones were exceptional. Very good service. I think a couple of the other Cales could be a bit more fancy, but overall very satisfied

   Lovely table in the bar area,very relaxed area less formal than the main dining room

   Food good as alway. Service good but on arriving we were shown to our table. We duly sat down and chatted to the waitress who was very pleasant but half way through the conversation we were asked to move to another table as this had been booked for “ a lady who always has this table” with no reserved notice on the table. We were a bit shocked to be asked to move !!! We were undecided whether to stay but made the decision to as the food we knew would be to our liking. Disappointed on this visit and questioned whether certain customers money is better than ours?!! It may be a while before we book again.

   We had Sunday lunch and the food was delicious, faultless, the restaurant is lovely, tastefully designed and fitted but sadly the service didn’t match. No smiles from any of the waiters or bar staff. It felt like they couldn’t be bothered whether we were there or not which was disappointing. I hope next time we visit there will be a warm welcome and some investment in their clientele. The food deserves better.

   Very good Haddock and chips, some of the best fish and chips I’ve had in a long time., Will be back again in the future

   My sourdough bread was not fresh, my steak was very chewy. The vegetarian option and there was only one looked like it had been heated in a microwave a d there was no sauce to speak of. To be fair they did not charge for the steak after I pointed out the issue. We were very disappointed overall as we had heaisuch good things about The Clive.

    The service was impeccable, staff are very friendly without being intrusive. The starters were lovely, lamb belly was tender, potebello mushroom with Stilton, and salmon tartar, could not fault any of them. Mains, trout fishcakes slaw with chips was superb, teriyaki pork noodles also superb. Deserts, sticky toffee pud excellent and orange creme brulee brilliant. There was nothing to fault the meal. Would recommend to all.
