About The Classic Cafe at Roanoke
The Classic Cafe at Roanoke serves a world-class menu in a casual, relaxed cottage setting. Fare is not limited by continent or region, and Chef Charles Youts’ weekly features are as likely to hail from the Pacific Rim as they are from his childhood home in West Texas. Chef Charles finds garden-to-table inspiration in the Chef’s Pantry garden, maintained on The Classic grounds since 2009, and his features regularly highlight the seasonal fruits and vegetables grown there. New American menu includes steaks, seafood, pasta, small plates.

The Classic Cafe at Roanoke Ratings and Reviews
This was the New Year’s Eve dinner. The portions were small and the food was average. The price was way too high, $300 for two adults and two kids. I expected much more for the price. Regarding the steak it was chewy and not very good considering the price. The normal menu was not available and the selection was minimal. When I booked the reservation on Open Table it was not mentioned regarding the limited menu and additional price. They served a chocolate mousse but it was on the menu as chocolate mousse with gelato. No gelato was present in the plate!!! No drinks even nonalcoholic were included. If you have money to through away or burn I would recommend this place otherwise stay away. BTW the tea was not hot enough to steep and the tea cup was dirty.
This was my 4th time to visit and I brought a friend who had never been there. Julie (wait staff) was so informative and personable that she made me feel like a queen! The wine was exceptionally tasty and complimented the dinner. We started out with a warm brie that put me in a great mood. Dinner was "Out of this world" and the Port balsamic glaze was such a compliment to the beef tenderloin that melted in my mouth. Seriously! I will contact Chef Charles and ask for the recipe. That is what is so great about this restaurant, Chef Charles will share his recipes. I would also suggest that you try some of his cooking classes. Who wouldn't want to be a better cook in the kitchen? Haven't been there? Can't understand why you don't give yourself a treat? Thank you Classic Cafe of Roanoke for the excellent service and dinner. I will bring more friends!
We were in Roanoke with the kids to see the Gift of Lights and we're looking for someplace other than Babe's to eat. So glad we discovered the Classic Cafe! Everything was just perfect. Great service, excellent food cooked with quality ingredients.
We could tell that the chef and the rest of the staff take a lot of pride in their work. The jalapeño apple cobbler was AMAZING! We'll probably drive up from Fort Worth just to eat there again.
I have always say pay attention to the bad reviews not the good ones. My husband and I cook so we are even more particular about what we think is "good food." I ordered the ribeye which was $44 and not worth it at all. The meat quality was not great. No flavor at all. I gave my husband a good portion of it and he said the same thing. The rib eye steaks from Central market are far superior. Second, they don't let you make any substitutions. This really bothers me when restaurants do this. I cannot have gluten or dairy so I am stuck with what the dish comes with unless I want to pay another $9.00 for another side because I'm intolerant? Moving on to my husband dish. He ordered the pork schnitzel which he said was ok. The manager or maybe he was the owner was very nice but the food was not good. Our waiter was good either which made our experience even worse.
It was a cool evening. We elected to be seated in the bar area to listen to the classical guitar (who by the way was outstanding) but whenever the outer doors opened there was a draft on the floor making our legs cold. We have been seated several times in the dining area and I would prefer that for coziness and conversation.
I love The Classic and will definitely be back!
A true “Classic” and one of my favorites for many years. The food quality that chef Young’s provides is some of the best in the whole metroplex!! Francis always provides a level of service and just makes you feel like royalty, and his wine pairings are excellent.
Every answer was a "no'". We had a gift certificate that can't be used on the weekend. After booking a reservation via Open Tanle last night, we rec'd an email with a $20 gift certificate that we printed. Nope, that can't be used either. Our waitress was a smoker & that is all we could smell. When asked if dill could be left out of one of the entrees, we got a big fat no. The 6 oz wine pour was a tad over 4 ounces. The only positive was that the manager is a nice guy.
Food is always good. I had the schnitzel which is grown locally. It was tender, moist, and delicious. My wife had a steak which was prepared to her liking. We both started with the Classic Salad and ended by sharing the bread pudding, which was firmer than most and nicely appointed with berries and was pleasantly but not overpowering sweet.
