Service, food and atmosphere were outstanding. Wine was a little pricey but other than that everything was superb. Highly recommend!
We were excited to eat here because of all of the good reviews, but it really disappointed us :(
When we walked in, it smelled "old". Kind of like an old church or nursing home. The decor was confusing. A lot of it was, well, old, but then there were modern paintings throughout, so the ambiance was lacking. Ordered the fried calamari for appetizer, the aioli that it came with was very lemon flavored, almost too much. I ordered the steak and balsamic glaze sauce which was $48, and I don't think Ive ever been as disappointed in a steak. It was lacking in flavor and the glaze just wasn't very good. They serve the entree with a side of cooked red cabbage (REALLY bad, does anyone really eat this?) and a polenta cake thing. The polenta cake thing was good actually.
The only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars instead of one, is because the service was really good. But if you are expecting a dining experience similar to Eddie V's or Ruths Chris, you'll be disappointed. Especially because the prices are about equal to a restaurant of that caliber.
Wonderful food, great services
Always love going there.
We tried out The Classic Cafe at Roanoke, TX this evening for our 13th Wedding Anniversary. Our experience was very amazing and absolutely 5 stars on the food quality, and the service. This turned our evening into an amazing experience to remember. We were looking for a favorite place we could continue our date nights and special occasions. I believe we found that place at The Classic Cafe. Thank you to Christine our waitress, she made us feel as if we reserved the entire restaurant for ourselves. It was just an overall amazing place to experience.
We visited for Easter lunch and enjoyed their prix fix menu. This may be Roanoke’s only white tablecloth restaurant.
Service was excellent! This is a great venue for a date or business lunch or dinner.
While the main entree protein item was hot, sides on the plate were not, and had clearly been plated on a cool plate before the protein. Disappointing for the price point.
Saturday evening is a busy night, consequently the dining area was crowded and very noisy......difficult to carry on a conversation with someone seated next to you. The ribeye was listed as marbled but was just plane "fatty".
My client recommended this place and it is adorable! The staff was excellent- friendly, engaging, attentive, fun - everything you would want out of a nice place.
The food was great. We shared the Brie and Pork Belly to start and then I had the miso glazed salmon and my client had the steak. The salmon was cooked perfectly. The sauce on the side was a little too soy saucy for me and I wished I hadn’t put any on my salmon because it would have been perfect otherwise. My client raved about the steak.
We finished off with a Jalapeño Apple Crumble. Very delicious.
I highly recommend this place and I’d come back again!
This was our first time to go to the Classic and we were very impressed. We had appetizer of Shrimp with puffed bread(excellent) followed by Bean soup(also excellent). The main course was Crab Stuffed Trout and Roasted Duck breast, both wonderfully done. For dessert, we had Texas sheet cake and Creme Brulee. The sheet cake was so very good and the Creme Brulee was my only slightly negative thing of the night. Flavor was great but it was thin and soupy for the actual custard.
Excellent meal in a really comfortable environment! Will return soon.
Only regret I have is not eating here sooner, having lived here for so long. Wonderful menu, delicious food, fantastic service and great classical guitar to add to the ambiance the night we were there. We’ll be back.
Excellent local dining experience, no rush. Great cocktail list, food is very good, nice atmosphere in an old house. Wait staff is very nice and have attention to detail, there is no rush, so be patient and enjoy your cocktail. If you are in some type of hurry you will be disappointed.
Always an outstanding dining experience at The Classic. We celebrated our anniversary and it was a great evening. Thank you to all the staff for everything you do.
25th anniversary, starter and appetizer were top notch. Entrees lacked enough seasoning and flavor
The food was very good and the service was great! The facility (an old home) could use some updating though. It's got a bit of a strange layout and we were seated at a table in a corner that was cramped. With all the new restaurants going in on the street, they'll need to update soon to keep diners coming for the great food and service.
As usual, food was great with attentive service. A long time favorite.
My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and I selected to take her to The Classic in Roanoke. We both had a great time. The food was excellent and the staff were outstanding. They were very appreciative that we had select to have our anniversary celebration with them and the service we received proved it.
Very enjoyable...nice music and tasty selection of food. My wife enjoyed a very reasonably priced lobster tail that was prepared to perfection. The salmon was very good, to the point of wanted a bit more. We will return!
I was very impressed with the food. The food is always good! My only complaint is that when I made the reservation on Open Table, I had asked for a quiet table so my friend and I could talk. We were seated near a very noisy party and we had trouble hearing each other unless we raised our voices.
Wonderful experience. The restaurant had everything from romantic diners to energetic celebrations, at times a little loud (which was totally different from every other time I've been there) but the restaurant can't predict who will be this way. Took care of my wife for her birthday and the wait staff took care of all of our needs. Food was top notch as always!
As a retired sommmelier, I tried this spot after 100 or so instances of recommendation. This is effortless, inviting, and unpretentious service as it should be. The food is outstanding and I really can't make a recommendation as we tried so much. The roasted pepper and mascarpone soup started strong and the jalapeno/apple cobbler finished strong. Just get what you want in between. I'm not familiar .with Roanoke but in my blessed travels in the name of service and culinary arts, you won't leave through there doors without feeling like the family just fed you
Food was delicious! Chase took excellent care of us.
We love it here! Always a good menu and we always have them come to talk wine with us!
Quaint restaurant setting. Timing was off. Had a reservation at 7pm and didn't get seated until 7:30. Service between courses was long; so turn around time could be improved.
Love the special treatment you get when coming here. They make everyone feel welcome and appreciated. The amazing food is a bonus!
Staff was very professional and our waitress was phenomenal
Classic Cafe is always a 5 Star dining experience. My husband and I have been going for years. The food is amazing and the friendly service (and owners) impress us each visit.
Wonderful as always!
But really hday
Perfect place to celebrate Valentines Day. This is the 2nd time we have dined at this restaurant on a special occasion. Romantic, great food and excellent service.
The Classic is a true gem, awesome food, great service and wonderful atmosphere.
It’s like dining with family! The food is excellent, other patrons wonderfully kind and the owner and staff are gracious. Highly recommend!
The food was excellent and so was the service!
Wonderful place to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. Ambience was romantic, cozy. The attention from staff and chef made the meal well worth it alone. Top it off with great food, fresh garden choices at unbelievable price for the quality of food and service made for an exquisite dining experience. Highly recommend this place.
Always good and has been a reliable spot for many years for special occasion dinners. The staff and the management took care of an overcooked steak efficiently and even offered to redo the entree for my wife as well. Great service, local ingredients and creative menu! Very good selection of wines for any budget and varietal
Great Early Valentine’s Day dinner. Great wine. Lobster was perfect. Sides were meh. Dessert was awesome. Pricey at $300 but great evening
My wife and I had dinner over the past weekend. The food, INCREDIBLE!
The service, IMPECCABLE. I have never had an owner of a restaurant make themselves as available to us as they did. He took the time to welcome my wife by kissing her hand!
We will most definitely be back. Other restaurants could learn from these guys!!
I have been dining at Classic Cafe for years & always have a wonderful time & fabulous food!
So glad Curtis, Chris & Francis always live up to me expectations!
I feel today's standards for proper service are below average when it comes to eating at a restaurant. However, The Classic was well above average and my wife and I deeply appreciated that. Our server, Katy, was attentive, kind, and had good wine recommendations. The food was delicious, I recommend the crap stuffed rainbow trout.
Great service and food.. I love this place!
Always our favorite place to be! Always our 1st choice when going out to eat.
Love sitting in the bar on weekends and listening to Tim on the classical guitar.
