The Classic Cafe at Roanoke
I look for great foods but seldom do I just rave about the food. But the meal we had at the Classic Restaurant in Roanoke last evening certainly merits a rave! The Restaurant is celebrating its connections to family traditions that date back into the 1880s with a special Octoberfest menu package of Bavarian recipes. I had the Jaegerschnitzel (Some of the best I have ever had.) with a bacon-mushroom sauce served with Spaetzle and Sweet and Sour Cabbage. Dinah had the Potato-crusted rainbow Trout with Lemon Aioli. The package desert was Apple Strudel served with Salty Dog Ice Cream and Vanilla Anglaise and WOW!. The starter was a potato and sausage soup which was some of the best soup I have ever tasted. We were eating out on a lark and expecting another "package meal" that most restaurants serve. What we found was a culinary treasure with each part better than the last and all were treats to the palate that one could only find in the best of German restaurants that we have visited. With all the commercial attempts at "celebrating German" I would suggest taking advantage of the Classic Restaurant in Roanoke and their family German Octoberfest that will last all this month. You will be in for a wonderful treat and a very good price of $39!
Been going for years and it is steadily getting worse. $260 for 4 with no alcohol was a joke. Service was non existent. 45 minutes from salad to entree. Won’t be back.
Again, my favorite restaurant in Roanoke. We had great, welcoming service. The menu plus daily specials are wonderful. I had jaegerschnitzel again, served with spaetzel, which was amazingly tender and flavorful. Make your reservation - you will be delighted.
A bit pricey, but most plates were tasty and seemed well executed. Good wine list. Friendly staff. Special occasion destination.
This was a date night with the wife and we hadn't been in several years. It was just as good as we remembered. Oktoberfest menu was incredible for myself and my wife's steak was well prepared.
Service was top notch.
It is still one of the hidden gems of Roanoke.
Chef Charles never disappoints and Francis makes sure that everything is perfect!
Overall food was good just overpriced
The service was friendly and the atmosphere was cozy. Not sure if I will go back it’s a one-timer for me. They need a Happy Hour menu!! There drinks are over-priced when you can goto Trulucks HH and get top shelf spirits for $6
First time eating quail, very flavorful, with a southwest tomato soup, rich & mildly spicy... all good. Pleasant wait staff. Tucked away in an old house in what I suspect was/is a farm town.
The food and service is always excellent. I also love the slower pace and quieter atmosphere. Great for a more intimate dining experience.
Lovely decor and service. Food coming out lukewarm, but tasty. Quite expensive for the quality of food, but not for quality of service.
Excellent food and service for both dinner and lunch. Consistently for us .....the best restaurant in northeast Tarrant county for over 20 years.
The finest service anywhere! Every single employee goes out of their way to make you feel special.
The Jaegerschnitzel is a must try.
Outstanding restaurant! The menu is diverse and the chef is very talented. The Classic has its own vegetable garden so many of the specials incorporate the freshest seasonal veggies. The chef is creative yet really delivers a top-notch steak or fresh fish. We enjoyed live guitar music and the staff is wonderful.
Back room with mirrors on the wall is very noisy. You cannot have a conversation without shouting.
Snapper dish was not my favorite. Service was excellent as always!
The meal was excellent!!! The service was exceptional. Expensive ( with the bar bill) but with the great food and excellent service it is worth it!!!
Always a pleasure here which is why we continue to come back with business clients from out of state. Francis is always available to provide wine recommendations and remembers us each time. The service is always great and the food is consistently fantastic.
I did not know what to expect when I made reservations for my wife’s birthday. We have tried Bob’s, Kirby’s, Truluck’s, Dino’s, and JR’s, but we were ready for something new. We were certainly not disappointed. The menu was great. The wine list was a perfect match for it. The setting was relaxing but special. We had a dessert platter and loved it. With so many highlights to the evening, it was important that the service would be first class. Julie was the person who brought it all together for us. She is fascinating, thoughtful, and perfect for The Classic. By the end of the evening, it felt as though we were old friends. This was a very memorable birthday for my wife. Thank to everyone who made it so.
love the food, service, and hometown feel of this place ... one of favorites
Food was good but service VERY SLOW. It took too long to get our meal. Too pricey for the amount & quality of food you are getting.
It was amazing we tried several apps all where great
The Classic is consistently top notch. Never had anything that wasn’t delicious.
Wonderful food and knowledgeable wait staff. Happy that they participate in Restaurant week.
This is truly my favorite place in North Texas to eat. The food is phenomenal, the staff is as professional as they came and they somehow combine 5-Star dining with an at home feel to make it the best of all worlds. Make sure to ask Francis for a wine recommendation!
Our Restaurant Week lunch was delicious, with interesting ingredients, perfectly prepared and presented. Our waiter was attentive, polite and personable. I will come more often there are so many dishes to experience.
The Classic has been our go-to special occasion restaurant for years, and they never disappoint. It is cozy and usually quiet, and the food is always perfectly prepared. It is elegant without being stuffy. They have an extensive wine list...manager Francis has always given us great advice on wine pairing.
I’m tired of the sides that come with dinner and I think the ala cartel choices are overpriced. I like to have potato with my steak and a green vegetable. It’s a better choice at lunch !
The food is fabulous and it's so nice to dine in a place that is both cozy and quiet!
Frances is always amazing and makes us feel welcome
We had a apartment in Fossel Creek for 5 years and ate at the Classic Cafe often!!!! When we knew we were traveling back to Ft Worth for an event, it was the one place we wanted to go back to!!!!! We lucked out and enjoyed Restaurant Week😊
Our meal was delicious and the service was excellent! Such a nice evening!!!!! Thanks Classic Cafe!!!
Everything was exquisite; food, service, & ambiance. Would highly recommend this gem for both special occasion's as well as a upscale dining at reasonable prices.
Chose the Classic because I always have a memorable meal, cooked with finesse and love , served with authority, care and kindness, at a table that could have been prepared by a dear friend. A hug of a meal for my Birthday.
Saturday night at the classic was fantastic. We got to enjoy the restaurant week menu it was great with lots of choices. I had the ribeye wife had the salmon both were delicious. Bread pudding for desert was awesome. Great place to try especially if you like fresh food. Some they grow in the garden in back of the restaurant.
We eat at the classic all the time. This is a neighbor hood gem that a lot of people are missing. Frances who is almost always there is such an attentive great person who always greets you with a smile and is like an old friend. If you have not tried the classic go tonight. You will not be sorry. The steak the seafood the fried okra when in season is all fantastic. The wine and cocktails amazing.
Have dined at Classic multiple times and always have a great meal and wonderful service
We have been there multiple times, and every time was a deliteful experience. This time was no different. Great food and excellent service.
We’ve lived here for 15 years and have never enjoyed anything other than exemplary food, wine and service. Francis has personally chosen the impressive depth of wines available to entice the oenophile in all of us! It has become a family staple-for business, and catering parties at our home.
Another great dinner. A hidden gem. Consistently great. Be back soon.
Great food, great atmosphere and great price! We loved everything!!!
I’d heard a lot of positive things and read many glowing reviews about the Classic cafe in Roanoak.
My dinner guest and I were both very unimpressed, with the cheap quality of the silverware, it was the type you typically see in a cafeteria or school dinning room. Every time I asked the waitress a question about a dish, her response was that “it’s absolutely delicious” ... it wasn’t.
The classic salad was good ,light and tasty
The tomatoe soup ( my guest eat) was delicious
The Lambchops ( 2 double chops) where very under par, fatty, under cooked and barely any meat.
(I’ve eaten lamb chops all my life these may have been the worst).
My guest had a ribeye ( no special sauce) a cheap cut, poorly prepared, lots of vains, tasteless ( we could understand why she was pushing the sauces) . The french fries were excellent, the other vegetables all good , the wine list isn’t bad but a little over priced for what is was.
We didn’t stay for desert , we won’t return.
Love The Classic for always outstanding food and service! It’s our go-to place for an excellent meal, from appetizer to dessert.
