   I took our family of 4 on Mother’s Day for lunch. My wife mentioned that she really wanted to go there sometime, and this special day seemed like a great day to do so. We made a late reservation so the table they chose for us was right next to the staging area for the food runners to bring the trays of food for the servers to bring to each table. My son and I ate the tenderloin medallions and my wife and daughter ordered the chicken dish. Steaks were ordered medium rare and came out more like medium. Mashed potatoes were excellent and green beans were good. The first course salad with house vinaigrette was average at best with fresh spring mix and sunflower seeds. Nothing to it and nothing special. My wife ordered tomato soup and this was an excellent choice. For dessert, 3 of us ordered the chocolate sheet cake with ice cream, also very good separately and together. This rating is very difficult for me. While the food was very good and service was excellent, the price makes the value of the meal not worth going back. Menu was small and few choices were offered. I’ve been to many restaurants where this price would have been warranted, but The Classic seemed over priced and overrated. Being new Roanoke, I would have rather gone to a Bob’s, Capital Grill, or even Brio Italian, Trueluck’s seafood or a number of other fine dining options. Will I ever go back to the Classic? I can’t say I will. Not because of the food or service, but based on the price there are other options that I would choose every other time. This is not a bad review! It’s just a little disappointing based on price versus value. Other choices exist in this range and I would rather go there and have the other options.

   Dining at the Classic Cafe is always a pleasure. The cuisine is excellent, the service is superior, and the atmosphere is delightful. Our server was Tim who made the evening simply wonderful. And Francis, the general manager, is a special host and Christian. Class is Cafe is a neighborhood gem.

   The Classic Cafe is an unassuming jewel. The wait staff is impeccably trained. The food ingredients are noticeably top notch. It all comes together to make a first rate dining experience.

   WONDERFUL! Absolutely wonderful! The service was excellent. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was perfect! Even the acoustic guitar songs were spot on for our special night. Highly, highly recommend The Classic Cafe in Roanoke. We will definitely be back.

    The Classic Cafe is always excellent for food, very friendly efficient service and ambience. It has been our go-to local restaurant for many years and will continue to be that.
