An unexpected refresh of our culinary past. The cuisine is derived from historical menus, executed with a contemporary twist. The graceful restaurant setting is redolent of the building’s architectural pedigree, courtesy of the original brick facade, factory glass windows, a stained wood bar, and a statuesque wine cellar featuring a robust selection of extraordinary wines.

I was expecting a new menu every month but was the exact same as in December. Good. Halibut was a bit dry but tasty.

We had a wonderful 50th birthday dinner for a family member here the other night, and everything was terrific! It was the first time many in out party had been to The Broadview Hotel, and they were thrilled with everything. Bree was a terrific server!

We were there for brunch. Service was impeccable. Our server was attentive, courteous and she did everything with a smile.
Setting was excellent for a few friends to catch up. Our coffee, tea, water were refilled often. Menu is small (e.g. only one type of bread!), small portion, with the expected price for the Leslieville/Queen East area.
We enjoyed the time spent at the Civic. Will return because of their great service, comfy seats with lots of elbow room.

Food is completely ordinary , nothing to rave about , slightly above short order quality at mid-range pricing. Server was amazing , friendly and very efficient . Decor is quite nice and fresh. Would not rush back as way too many other options in the city at similar price point with better food quality.

Made reservations at the Civic Restaurant .

When we got the at the correct time the hostess said they were closing the Civic and we were seated in the Cafe at a table where one on us sat on a stool with no back. There were seats available in the Civic but we were not allowed to sit there even though we had reservations there. That was the only problem. Food was good.

Although the food wasn’t bad, it was unfortunately meh/unmemorable/somewhat bland and nowhere near good enough for us to return. This is actually a shame because the space, ambiance, and our waitress were wonderful!

We waited quite awhile for the food to come. We wanted the scones to be served first with our coffee but it all came at once. And my duck Benny was cold.

The room was wonderful. My friends and I were really looking forward to this brunch. Our server was great. The main reason we picked this place was the menu. But it didn’t deliver. The food was just mediocre. Duck confit Benedict sounded fabulous, but tasted average. It was warm instead of hot. All the plates looked so tight and chintzy. Bringing it up to the sever right there and then would not have made a difference. That’s what all the food at the other tables looked like.

We came early for our reservation to get a coffee in the cafe because the atmosphere looked beautiful in the pictures. Upon arriving the host informed us they served the same brunch menu in the cafe and was able to modify our reservation and squeeze us in there instead which was awesome! Our food was good, it came out incredibly fast - I’d barely started to drink my latte when it came out. One of the servers was wonderful, very charismatic. He told us about some of the history behind the hotel, he was great to chat to when he came around to check in with his tables. We will definitely be back

Went for brunch with friends on a Sunday, was happy to have a place in Toronto I can reserve. It was everyone’s first time there and we were all disappointed. Everyone’s food was barely warm, one dish was actually cold. Our server was nice but we realized the service was getting poorer as the room was busier - it’s Sunday brunch, they should have been properly staffed. They did remove the two dishes that needed to be cooked again but it was too little too late, it’s never enjoyable when you’re not eating at the same time and the food was just mediocre.

Service seemed very rushed. We had no time to enjoy our cocktails. Food came so quickly no opportunity to order wine. For a restaurant like this, I was expecting to have a relaxing dinner. Felt like they couldn’t get us out quick enough.

It was a lovely dining experience but they need to work on getting the eggs just right in all the breakfast plates served to our table of 5. Eggs were way over done, whether fried or poached, everything else was really good.

Beef main course was tough which is unacceptable at this price. I actual’y Had to take it out of my mouth after minutes of chewing. I was only able to eat a portion of the meal. My wife’s main course was warm at best which is also not acceptable given the price. It may be a place I could go for drinks but we can’t see returning for a meal. There are far too many better places with higher quality food. Even the chocolate desert tasted like it just came out of the frig or a box and one needed a steak knife to cut the raspberry trip on the cake, which was quite the joke at our tavle. Sorry for you and sorry for our financial investment here!

Excellent location. Beautiful building. the food was great and the service was as well. The noise was quite loud but that is primarily because it is such a high demand spot. If you want a quiet location this is probably not for you but if noise level doesn't bother you I would highly recommend it.

food was good, but small portions. waitress was friendly but not very attentive. didn't allow time for everyone to order, rushed us with the bill, and charged for an extra side that we ordered but never received. when we asked her to remove the charge, she refused and told us that she spoke to the kitchen and they had delivered the dish.

Beautifully designed spot. Food is good quality. No substitutions of any kind so best not to go with picky eaters. Eggs are sunny side up or pouched - no other method, including over easy. Brunch is a bit frenetic and they are very clear that the time limit is 90 minutes. Coffee shop across the hall is great for lingering over a coffee afterwards.

The food was ok. Not spectacular for the price. Service was also ok, better than the food but not aligned to price point. The upstairs longe was incredible however. The service was amazing as were the drinks and food. And I can’t say enough about the DJ ❤️❤️❤️. Will certainly be returning for the lounge- and hopefully there will be dancing as the music is too good to just sit!

I made a reservation for a friend's birthday for Saturday night, and when I got there, they were no longer able to accommodate us. However, we were able to sit at a table in the bar area and still order off The Civic menu, and the bartenders in there and servers took extra care of us and apologized for the error. They also got us into the rooftop bar even though that was incredibly busy, in order to make up for the table confusion.

Overall great venue, great food and drinks, music was on point, excellent experience.

$40.00 for 3 carrots and 5 bites beef rib that was mostly fat. Too their credit they took it back but replaced my med/rare order with one that was well done. My friends order was the same. Other dinner companion's portions were also tiny tiny tiny. Overpriced and highly overrated. Atmosphere was ok but background noise was very loud. Hard to have any dinner conversation. Went because of the hype, won't bother going again and don't recommend you wasting your money or social time.

Food is very good but priced as a high end restaurant but lacking the polish of a high end restaurant. Everything was rushed. My wife went to the ladies room after the appetizer and they dropped the main while she was not there. Big negative for me. Then the bill was dropped while we were finishing our bottle of wine because we ordered no desert. Without asking if we were done. Will not be returning. Top floor bar patio is much better.

Great space! Love the big, high ceilings! Warm service!

Thought the cheddar & thyme biscuit was too dense for my Salmon Benedict - takes away from the poached egg and salmon. I’d prefer a less dense English Muffin, toast, or even bagel instead.

Is that menu change possible?
