Once known as the “skyscraper” of its day, the historic Germania Hall building, built in 1878, in downtown Wooster is now home to The City Square Steakhouse.

Award-winning chef Mike Mariola and wife, Emily, opened The City Square Steakhouse in 2008. City Square promises a dining experience you’d expect from a big city while maintaining its historic small-town charm, and has been recognized as one of the Top 100 Steakhouses in America.

The City Square Steakhouse is proud to exclusively use Certified Angus Beef products for all steaks and burgers. Celebrated my birthday with the love of my life. Wonderful time. Edward our waiter made us feel special and did a great job. Salmon was a little over broiled for our taste. Excellent complimentary dessert at Edwards suggestion.

Made our visit to City Square Steakhouse while attending the Ohio Light Opera. The experience, always good in the past, has been enhanced because they have expanded their space since our last visit. We were seated in the new room that is further from the bar area, so it is quieter. The steaks (filet and NY strip) were excellent, as were the appetizers and salads. We even found room for coffee and dessert, though we should have split one dessert instead of getting two.

We had dinner last night everything was great except it was for our wedding anniversary and we put that on the note under the reservation and no one mentioned anything. Only other complaint was that our dining experience lasted 2 hours other than that food was great

Cocktails, appetizers & salads were all top notch. For a steakhouse charging high end prices, however, you’d expect them to be able to cook a steak properly. My wife’s delmonico was medium well instead of medium rare and my rack of lamb was the same. I will say even with the lamb being over cooked it was still juicy. Overall good place, maybe they just had an off day in the kitchen.

I try to be fair to restaurants when I leave my reviews. And I don't like to leave a bad one unless it's absolutely necessary. In this case it's absolutely necessary. When we arrived at the restaurant and were seated... Myself and my group noticed immediately that it was very warm. Yes it was a hot day outside, but we were expecting a cool relaxing experience inside. That wasn't the case. When I brought the temperature up to the host, he admitted that the air conditioning had been down most of the day. I had a party of seven with several elderly people. We asked if we could be seated on the side of the restaurant where the air conditioning was working. They could not accommodate. If they had had the courtesy to call me earlier in the day or we could have certainly had the choice to choose another restaurant. I can only surmise that they were typically greedy and put money above all else. We should have left, but as I said, it was difficult getting a group of seven there with most of them being elderly. Now let's discuss the food. I have been here before and truthfully have never been overly impressed with the food quality. I think it's certainly overpriced and the food quality is average at best. So if you're expecting fine dining, you will certainly pay fine dining prices but you will not receive fine dining food. I'm not going to get into every little detail, but suffice to say that none of the party was really happy with the food. Now here's the best part: After I sent an email complaint to the restaurants management team, I received a lukewarm pathetic response, with no offer whatsoever of anything to help make the situation right. So be forewarned. This place doesn't really give an honest hoot about its customers. Shame on them. I will absolutely never be back nor will anybody that dined with me that evening.

Excellent food. We enjoyed a steak and shrimp scampi. Our waitress was attentive to our needs but didn’t hover. Very comfortable dining room. Highly recommend.
