Once known as the “skyscraper” of its day, the historic Germania Hall building, built in 1878, in downtown Wooster is now home to The City Square Steakhouse.

Award-winning chef Mike Mariola and wife, Emily, opened The City Square Steakhouse in 2008. City Square promises a dining experience you’d expect from a big city while maintaining its historic small-town charm, and has been recognized as one of the Top 100 Steakhouses in America.

The City Square Steakhouse is proud to exclusively use Certified Angus Beef products for all steaks and burgers. Such amazing food and service. We live in the Columbus area, and this by far exceeds what we have available there. We will be back!

I brought my mom to this restaurant while we were visiting her over the holidays. We had eaten here before & had a good experience, so we decided to go back. This time, out seating was in a space of the restaurant that is set up as a breezeway when the weather is nicer. For December, the space was enclosed & we were kept warm with gas heaters, but still felt a chill now & again when one someone used a nearby door to the outside. For an appetizer, we shared the spinach & artichoke dip, which was really good. For the entree, we all got steaks - most had the petit filet, but one person had the bone-in ribeye & I had the NY strip. The steaks were cooked perfectly, however the consensus opinion was that the steaks were salted too much during cooking. Nobody had room for dessert so we skipped that course. Our server was attentive without being overbearing, and was always gracious to us. Overall, it was another pleasant experience, though if we return we'll need to make sure to request lighter salting of the steaks prior to cooking.

Overall a generally enjoyable meal for fine dining in Wayne County. Service was exceptionally slow and we had to ask our server to come take our order when she disappeared for ~30 minute after bringing our bottle of wine. Honestly my biggest issue with the meal was my 8 oz filet that looked more like 4 oz. Unfortunately we were under the gun to get back to our babysitter so I just accepted it for this meal but I will absolutely be hyper critical of portion size the next time we come back. Overall, I thought the experience was nice and I like having fine dining options in our hometown but our evening was just so-so. I hope it was a function of having the B team on service and in the kitchen on the Sunday before Christmas.

Had a lovely brunch with my sisters. Started out with cocktails. They were delicious! We all ordered from the brunch menu. Frittata, Avocado bagel and salmon bagel-we all enjoyed our choices and it was just the right amount. Food was great and the service was outstanding. Great way to spend part of a Sunday afternoon!

The food was outstanding, and our waiter was very pleasant. As tables filled, the noise level increased significantly. On this occasion, the kitchen was very slow.
