Once known as the “skyscraper” of its day, the historic Germania Hall building, built in 1878, in downtown Wooster is now home to The City Square Steakhouse.

Award-winning chef Mike Mariola and wife, Emily, opened The City Square Steakhouse in 2008. City Square promises a dining experience you’d expect from a big city while maintaining its historic small-town charm, and has been recognized as one of the Top 100 Steakhouses in America.

The City Square Steakhouse is proud to exclusively use Certified Angus Beef products for all steaks and burgers. In addition to steaks, seafood, and other entrees, the inimitable flavor and delicacy of Butter Cake – City Square’s signature dessert – is truly the “cherry on top” of the City Square experience.

    Our second visit was just as delicious as the first. Wedge salads and filet and salmon were wonderful.

    A very nice setting. Modern steakhouse decor. A large menu and the food was well prepared. Pricing was attractive for the value delivered.

    City Square Steak House is a lovely place for dinner after our yearly Ohio Light Opera matneevisit. Food is a little salty for our taste buds, but we use much less salt than most people. We should and could have asked for "easy on the salt please", but forget more often than we remember at restaurants. Other than that our meal experience was wonderful.

    Our party of five had a delightful time, delicious meals and excellent cocktails and wine. Our group all enjoyed the calamari as a starter and our dinners of strip steak, Delmonico steak, pork chop and petit filet with the béarnaise sauce and the au poivre sauce as very good accompaniments for the steaks. The service was courteous, prompt but not rushed. Our group of old friends thoroughly enjoyed our evening and look forward to returning!

    Celebrated my birthday with the love of my life. Wonderful time. Edward our waiter made us feel special and did a great job. Salmon was a little over broiled for our taste. Excellent complimentary dessert at Edwards suggestion.

    Made our visit to City Square Steakhouse while attending the Ohio Light Opera. The experience, always good in the past, has been enhanced because they have expanded their space since our last visit. We were seated in the new room that is further from the bar area, so it is quieter. The steaks (filet and NY strip) were excellent, as were the appetizers and salads. We even found room for coffee and dessert, though we should have split one dessert instead of getting two.

    We had dinner last night everything was great except it was for our wedding anniversary and we put that on the note under the reservation and no one mentioned anything. Only other complaint was that our dining experience lasted 2 hours other than that food was great

    Cocktails, appetizers & salads were all top notch. For a steakhouse charging high end prices, however, you’d expect them to be able to cook a steak properly. My wife’s delmonico was medium well instead of medium rare and my rack of lamb was the same. I will say even with the lamb being over cooked it was still juicy. Overall good place, maybe they just had an off day in the kitchen.

    Their food is always excellent. The pork chop is amazing, so tender. The lemon chicken was great as well
