Once known as the “skyscraper” of its day, the historic Germania Hall building, built in 1878, in downtown Wooster is now home to The City Square Steakhouse.

Award-winning chef Mike Mariola and wife, Emily, opened The City Square Steakhouse in 2008. City Square promises a dining experience you’d expect from a big city while maintaining its historic small-town charm, and has been recognized as one of the Top 100 Steakhouses in America.

The City Square Steakhouse is proud to exclusively use Certified Angus Beef products for all steaks and burgers. In addition to steaks, seafood, and other entrees, the inimitable flavor and delicacy of Butter Cake – City Square’s signature dessert – is truly the “cherry on top” of the City Square experience.

Gregory James Wines, a Sonoma and Napa wine producer, specializes in single-varietal wines from some of the most historic and important vineyards in all of California. Its founder, Jim Demuth, has unique ties to Ohio. He's an alum of The Ohio State University and resides in the great Buckeye State. His director of hospitality, Claire Smith, will join us for this special limited-seat event!

    The City Square Steakhouse was the best restroom my husband and I have ever been to. We visited here on our mini honeymoon. I have a lot of food allergies and restrictions, I initially was just going to order a salad and a side of fries to make it super easy, however, I quickly asked our server if they could make a pasta dairy free, she said absolutely everything here is made from scratch, let me go talk to the chef. She came back and said the chef said she can make a special dairy free sauce that she’s never made for that dish before. They took the time to make sure everything was perfect and even then came up and asked me if it was all good afterwards. She also told me about the bread being cross contaminated and was very considerate the rest of our time there. We were so thankful for this and have never had an experience like this anywhere else. Will definitely be coming back!

    Had a lovely Saturday brunch with the family, food was very good, especially the artichoke dip with pita chips, excellent! Service was great too.

    First time dining, very nice atmosphere with an appealing menu. A very good selection of steaks and other entrees are available. I personally recommend the Seafood Bisque as it was OUTSTANDING! Being from Midcoast Maine, I recognize a good seafood bisque. The salads were very fresh and tasty. Our entrees were prepared as requested. My wife loved her butter cake dessert and I enjoyed a cup of coffee to finish. A cappuccino would have been perfect but there’s none on fhe menu. Sabrina was an awesome host, very personable and professional. So when you’re visiting Amish country and you’ve had your fill of comfort food, head to City Square in Wooster for the perfect change.

    Everything was delicious as usual and the manager Kirk came over and checked on us multiple times and was very friendly

    We had brunch at noon on Saturday. Not busy. Food was very good. We had Traditional eggs Benedict with biscuit and gravy, french toast with bacon and scrambled eggs. And, mimosas. Everything was delicious!

    This is one of our favorite restaurants! The food and cocktails are superb and the wait staff are attentive, professional and enjoyable. We were sat on the patio which we did enjoy for the most part as it's a comfortable space; however, if you're looking for a quiet, more romantic dinner I'd opt for an inside table as the main street through Wooster does seem to have a large number of motorcycle enthusiasts.
