Once known as the “skyscraper” of its day, the historic Germania Hall building, built in 1878, in downtown Wooster is now home to The City Square Steakhouse.

Award-winning chef Mike Mariola and wife, Emily, opened The City Square Steakhouse in 2008. City Square promises a dining experience you’d expect from a big city while maintaining its historic small-town charm, and has been recognized as one of the Top 100 Steakhouses in America.

The City Square Steakhouse is proud to exclusively use Certified Angus Beef products for all steaks and burgers. In addition to steaks, seafood, and other entrees, the inimitable flavor and delicacy of Butter Cake – City Square’s signature dessert – is truly the “cherry on top” of the City Square experience.

We had an amazing time at City Square celebrating my birthday! My husband & I enjoyed our meals- I had pan seared Salmon. We were also surprised with their amazing raspberry white chocolate snickerdoodle blondie for dessert- that was fabulous! Our server was wonderful (sadly I can’t remember her name). All staff we encountered were very friendly & polite. We will definitely be back in the future!

We attended a wine pairing and 5 course tasting menu. It was very well done and we would gladly do it again. Great event!

The dining experience was top notch. Our server was excellent and easy to talk with about the wine and food menu. Our table was in a wonderful location. The food was outstaying from the salad to the veggies to the steak.

You could tell our food had been under the warmer for too long and you guys weren’t busy. My fries were barely warm. I expect a medium rare filet to melt in my mouth. Didn’t happen. We were put on the patio and not in the dining room. I was not impressed. Our server was excellent!

We love the steakhouse and will continue to do so but service was very slow yesterday. We were there at least 2 hours and our food took at least 1 hour to come out. when it did arrive, there was a problem with the one meal, easily fixed thankfully. The kitchen seemed so backed up and our reserv was at 11:30. It happens I know. Food was as good as it always is, thankfully.

Now, mind you, this is the nicest restaurant I've ever been to. As in "fancy," so when I say it was the best steak I've ever had, people who eat like this every time they go out have probably eaten just as good if not better food. Never had a steak that I say leave on the grill and forget about it. (Well done), and it comes out juicer than if I cooked one rare. It was an amazing first experience for my wife and I, for an anniversary. We will definitely be returning customers.

Steak was over cooked when ordered medium rare. Manager bought back the steak that our waitress agreed was overdone, and asked if we were sure we wanted to send it back. Our waitress was beyond fabulous and compensated parts of our meal.
