The City Beer Hall
All of the food we had was awesome, butternut squash soup with coconut, burgers, green tea rissotto, etc.
Great! Good service and excellent food.
Awesome brunch, great location, excellent beer menu, super friendly staff...highly recommend
Love the atmosphere of City Beer hall. Can’t wait to return. :)
The ancient grain bowl and Beer Hall Burger were both excellent!!
Fantastic experience: food, ambient, service, just great!
I would recommend on the beer selection. They have updated their menu from the last time that I came and it was not what I was craving. The food was not bad, just didn't satisfy me.
Don’t the regular menu. 1 of 3 meals were really good
Great beer selection, delicious food, and the building is absolutely beautiful. It was the perfect choice for a casual date.
As named, this is a beer hall, with excellent variety of craft beers, a very creative and delicious menu, and excellent and knowledgeable service. I would definitely go again and would recommend it, but not on the evening of a concert or basketball game at the nearby Times Union Center. Could hardly have a conversation across the table (which was also too close to the support pillar near the bar, so was constantly bumped by bar patrons moving around). Overall a good place for pub food and a beer.
Everyone was very friendly and pleasant. I especially appreciated my server because she took a lot of time helping me choose a beer based on what I like. Then she did the same with the food. She knew the menu inside and out. And the food was wonderful. They had all the usual pub food but done with a “twist” and lots of vegan and vegetarian options which was unexpected for a pub. I’ll go here whenever I’m in town!
The winter menu was very good. I appreciate the variety of vegetarian options.
Food was delicious! A little crowded, but to be expected for New Year's Day brunch. Millennial crowd. we were the oldest people there. Should advertise to a more diverse crowd.
Hangover brunch on a Tuesday! It was delightful and the food is always superb. We see Olivia often as our server and she’s always great.
Went before seeing comedy show at the Egg, we got seated right near the gas fireplace, great spot and excellent service tasty beers!
there were several nice running around on the floor, which we did point out to the waitress. who also saw them. they were out of several popular food items by 5pm. and they app we order we not any good. I couldn't eat it really. would not recommend them.
Great find while in town for a concert. Food was pretty good. Service was excellent. If you bought a craft beer, you got a ticket for a mini pizza. Very nice touch. Burger was delicious. Would go back just for that!
Super loud and crowded before a concert, as expected. Service and food was good.
Great food and lively atmosphere. Very delicious food and entrees. The cheese and fruit plate was a great starter and the burger was cooked perfectly.
We thoroughly enjoyed the food and service at City Beer Hall on our recent visit to ALBANY. The food was so unique and the restaurant was close to downtown.
Busy night. Staff was very efficient and attentive. Food was delicious. Looking forward to going back soon!
Loved it and was totally pleasantly surprised at the menu.
Great brunch specials. Both my wife and my meals were delicious. Server was friendly and quick. My beer and my wife's Bloody Mary were included, great deal!
I’ve been to The City Beer Hall three times now, I’ve had the same server twice. Every time we go, it’s a lovely atmosphere with welcoming staff. The entres are more on the expensive side, it’s not like you’re going there for fast food service. But the value of what you get is absolutely worth it. Brunch is incredible.
Aside from the 2 cute mice we saw on the patio and the awful “fruit smoothie” the place was pretty good.
I come every Sunday for brunch and constantly suggest this place to others. The staff is always welcoming and friendly.
No no no no...first off, the menu on here and the one they have are very different. Second, the short rib was tough fat and rubbery meat even though it was cooked pink inside. Good choice for beers but take the burger and I regret I didn’t, and listened to the server’s suggestion. Thank goodness I never have to go there again. Avoid!
We go to the City Beer Hall whenever we attend an event at the TU center or when meeting friends in downtown Albany. The food is ALWAYS spot on and the service is FANTASTIC every time. This was our friends first time there and they will be back too!
My new favorite place in Albany. FOOD ALLERGIES are NO PROBLEM. Chef personally hand held my order. Amazing food and service at an authentic downtown bar. 100% recommend.
Every thing was very good. Great to sit outside on a beautiful day. They had to resit us but that was no big deal and manager comped us 3 drinks. First round was on him. Didn't need to but appreciated. Love when managers know how to take care of their customers. Pizza idea is great to. followed by a great concert at Times Union Center.
Great greeting....service was a tad slow outside but adequate. Nice outdoor area.
This restaurant definitely has a German beer house feel, with long tables and benches. The food was pretty good quality and presentation wise, I ordered beet salad, smoked fish, surf and turf. my waiter was nice and attentive. I definitely will be back!
We went for brunch and it was our first visit. Our server was quite pleasant and the food was great. We plan to go back.
We made a reservation for Mother’s Day brunch. I have never had a bad experience at the City Beer Hall, but this was particularly great! We asked to sit outside, they brought water and menus right away. Jack was taking care of us. He was friendly, fast, and knowledgeable. Dan stopped over( I had known him when he was at previous pub/bars) talked about how great the owners are and said that it’s the best food/beverage program he’s been involved in. Talked about the new menu and checked in with us a few times😁. I can’t wait to go back!
We went for Mother's Day Brunch and had a great experience. The food and beer are excellent, and the server (Leah) was very helpful, attentive, and knew the menu very well! It's our new favorite place and we will definitely be back!
We ordered burgers which were quite good. The beer flight I ordered was also very tasty. The noise level was exceptionally high as it was a Saturday night. Other than the noise and bustle the place was quite interesting. If we are back in Albany on a week night would give it another try.
Diverse menu options for Restaurant Week. We enjoyed our meal and beers. Pretty loud near the bar but we were still able to hear each other.
Ian did a great job taking care of us on a busy Restaurant Week night when it was as packed as you'd expect. The casual, comfortable atmosphere keeps us coming back ... oh, that and the beer selection accompanied by free personal pizzas!
Came here for restaurant week. Who knew...fine, authentic international cuisine in a bar atmosphere with bench seating? And delicious, too...including their thin crust pizza. Never had a Libyan dessert before! A great meal which won't be forgotten! One of my best meals in years. In the Albany area...only La Serre rivals this place!
Georgina and Dan "made the place"! They were so helpful! Thank you!!!
