The City Beer Hall is an American beer hall & housed within downtown Albany’s historic & beautiful old telephone company. Inventive menus focus on locally sourced, seasonal, from-scratch cuisine. Indoor/outdoor seating for dinner, brunch, & late night.
Featuring some of the best craft beverages in the area; we have 20 rotating beer/cider taps, an extensive can/bottle list, & full bar. If you’re looking for a special brew that’s available in the area, chances are we’re pouring it. Not to mention, guests receive a FREE personal pizza with each beer/cocktail purchased! If you’re not looking to stay long, we offer beer to-go in cans.

Service was very good, attentive. There is a main “hall” that was very noisy but was expected given the name of the place. The host asked if we’d like to be seated there or somewhere quieter, which we opted for and the noise level was fine. There was also an outside patio which looked very nice but at 64 degrees out, a little chilly to sit for dinner (for us). There were people sitting out there and every time the server went through the door, she kicked the handle to get out there, which I found unsanitary. As a guest, I wouldn’t want to open a door with my hand that has repeatedly been opened with someone’s shoe. Anyway, the food was pretty good; I had the CBH burger and a side of asparagus and my colleague has the ribs. Not amazing but certainly no complaints and a good value. Very close walk to the Capitol. They had some nice-sounding Octoberfest specials and some pizza (?) specials.

Food was wonderful! Not your average bar menu. Creative and varied. The noise level was through the roof tho making conversation difficult. This was at 6:30. Probably a little better later in the evening. But the food was definitely “worth the pain”!

Service was slow but young lady (waitress) was trying her best. Beverages were good, nice beer list. Odd coupon system of “free pizza” with beverage where you go pick it up in the kitchen🤨 Food was adequate, mushroom ragu was tasty but dry, fried chicken with Mac n cheese good.

Though not an extensive menu what was available is well prepared. Had limited staff not expecting a large crowd but the staff that was there hussled and made it seem like they they were not missing anyone!

Our server was very nice but difficult to locate when we needed ketchup and more water. The restaurant is quant but very noisey. Food was very delicious and portions were not too large.

Burger was very good but it came with nothing, not even chips or fries. Service was atrocious. Maybe 6 other people in there, yet it took almost 10 minutes to get a beer, and longer to get a refill. Polite waiter but terribly slow. Don't go if you are in a hurry.
