Surprised and pleased to enjoy such high quality cooking in Fredon, NJ. It turns out the chefs have learned their trade at Jean-Georges, one of the great restaurants in New York City. The place was full on Sunday evening. It is BYOB. It is hard to get a liquor license in NJ. Guests bring in fairly high quality wines, it still costs a bit, but it is worth it. ❤️❤️❤️
Wonderful restaurant, great food and staff!
Great experience. Food was delicious. Fantastic use of seasonal and local ingredients. Loved the house as well with wide plank pine flooring, exposed beams and art on the walls. Had a great chat with the chef Brendan after dinner. A real gem for the area
Excellent food and service! Food quality and creativity rivals some of the better NYC restaurants.
Our third time here but first time eating outside and ordering a la carte. Had perfect weather to eat outside - string lights set the mood nicely and patio heaters for the chillier nights. As always, food and service were both excellent.
Best meal we have had in Sussex County in many years. Friendly, attentive and knowledeable staff. Every bite of each course fabulous, exploding with unique and creative combinations of flavor. From opening course of oysters, to a plate of gnocchi, to incredible duck and short rib entrees, we loved it all. And the extraordinary pumpkin bread pudding dessert. Highly recommended. Treat yourself and help support this great restaurant!
First time there. Absolutely delicious. My husband felt his food could of been a little warmer. Other than that, can’t wait to go back
This is my 4th time dining at the Circle and it keeps getting better!
Shared the tasting menu. The six courses were each more delicious than the previous. Nicely paced service. The duck breast is amazing.
The Circle is a wonderful restaurant to have a meal with! Food is of high quality, with a creative menu, and realistic portions, served with linen table cloth and napkins! And the staff is outstanding!
Off the beaten track in the farmland of NJ lies a hidden jewel of a restaurant. At first glance menu not large but every dish offered was delicious. Tagliolini with clams and pancetta amazing. Duck awesome. Halibut never so terrific. Desserts fantastic waitstaff helpful and knowledgeable. Small dining rooms cozy. Worth the trip
All the other reviews were confirmed. We’ll be back when there is sufficient change in the menu.
First time here and I was very satisfied with everything!
We’ve been wanting to try the restaurant but it is always booked. Everything was perfect. The food was delicious and beautiful presented. While not inexpensive, it was worth every dollar. Finer dining in a charming and casual atmosphere.
Bread was good , Red Bibb salads were amazing, pasta dishes were also great. The halibut wasn't my favorite but the squash accompanying it was delicious. For dessert we tried the corn tart and the autumn bread pudding and both were just OK. My only complaint would be that I didn't ask how much the still water and cappuccinos were and found them be very pricey.
Excellent food for the most part...duck was not hot when served and acoustics in the room we were in were not good. Appetizers, pasta and dessert were excellent!
Very well presented food with great flavor. Top shelf ingredients help to make it taste good. Waitress was very personable. Treated with care by all individuals of the restaurant
Very noisy, only complaint
Food was Great
We will be back
The food is so creative and full of flavor! The chef uses the local fare and whatever is in season which makes the food they serve that much better. it's a delightful place to dine and the staff is so nice and very attentive. We will see you soon.
We were in the area visiting a friend and were recommended to give The Circle a try., they had gone and did the tasting menu. We could not do the tasting menu because my husband has a shellfish allergy and two of the items have shellfish. The meal started out with our server offering us a selection of bread to try. The bread was very good and fresh. We had the gazpacho and the corn risotto for an appetizer. Both were very good but the portions were small. Our server did mention that the servings on the menu were meant to order one app, one pasta and one main dish for each person. We weren't that hungry so we just ordered one app and one dinner each. For dinner, we had the butternut squash gnocchi which was delicious but it was a very small portion. The gnocchi was cooked perfectly and was not too dense. The halibut was bland. Since we were still hungry we tried the pumpkin bread pudding with pumpkin ice cream. The pumpkin ice cream was very good but the bread pudding did not taste like it had any pumpkin flavor and it was very dry. The plating was beautiful. The ambiance is artsy, modern, chic with a rustic vibe. Our server was great. We would eat here again and order other items and more food. There is nothing else in the area like this if you are looking for a date night spot or a special dinner.
The food was unique and delicious.
Server was knowledgeable and very helpful.
Wonderful setting in a house built in the 1700’s.
The hostess forgot to tell the waitress that we were sitting outdoors, and therefore we had to wait about 20 minutes before she came.
There was an excessive wait between courses.
The food and add the odds were excellent.
We enjoyed the food and the service was great. I recommend the oysters amd steak.
We dined on the patio and enjoyed watching the sunset over the corn fields. The food was fresh and excellent, the staff very friendly and knowledgeable. The only drawback with dining outside was the noise from the road but there's not much to be done about that.
Good it’s always great! Staff is very attentive. Great overall! Wish breads were warm :)
This is an absolute hidden gem! The amazing ambiance, service, and not to mention 6-course chef’s menu for $100, you can’t beat it! I would highly recommend! It was worth the hour drive from PA for me! Definitely will be back!
food was excellent; nice portion size; staff very congenial; will certainly return
Fantastic-in every sense-from parking lot to paying the check-a scrumptious, joyous festival for the palate and Kennedy rocks!!
Service needs to be a bit more polished. The food is outstanding and as such, the prices charged are not for the faint of heart.
This restaurant consistently delivers! They have brought a little slice of quality NYC dining to Sussex County. Both Brendan and Tyler are talented chefs and very nice people on top of that! The staff is friendly and handle themselves in a professional manner while keeping it Sussex casual....a very enjoyable experience every time we have visited.
The menu is limited, but always has something for every person in our party so don't be put off by the 'limited' comment. The meats are cooked to the proper temperatures and spiced appropriately, the seafood is fresh and flavorful, and even our vegan friend said it was the best vegetable dish she had ever had (I'll take her word on it...lol!) They change up their menu so one does not get bored with the same entrees. I do miss the duck breast dish, which was coated with a rub that was out of this world and then cooked to crispy, moist perfection! Since it was removed, I have enjoyed every meal hence so am happy to go back again and again.
The bread is so good here, it will make any carb-phobic person question their choices in life. You have to have at least one slice, but choose wisely as they offer several different styles and flavors along with some delicately infused butter.
The pastas are fresh and paired with sauces that compliment each other better than Mac and Tosh (the Goofy Gophers of Warner Brothers / Bugs Bunny....look it up for anyone born after 1970)
Not really a dessert person so will hold judgement on that, but have indulged in the expresso ice cream which is a rich and creamy delight to the senses. It even feels good....
Couple this with being a BYOB and you have all the makings of a local gem.
The building is stylish and rural chic. It can get a little noisy if you are in the front room and they have a full house, but definitely worth the visit! Sincerely, Mayor Mike!
Best food in Western Jersey. The restaurant we’ve been waiting for out here. Very cool setup inside a house, with fresh ingredients and unique menu. We will be back every week!
Inventive food combinations, attentive and knowledgeable staff, friendly chefs -- this place is terrific (and it is BYO to boot!). We so needed a place like this in Sussex County!
This was our second special occasion dinner at The Circle and they did not disappoint! Impeccable quality ingredients, presentation and flavor profiles. The Circle is of the highest caliber restaurants—how fortunate to have it in our little corner of NJ! Thanks to our server, Kennedy, and her team for another fantastic experience!
We had a tasty meal on 8-20-21 and definitely will go back to try other menu items. Our server was Athena and she was friendly and knowledgeable regarding the menu items. We decided to try the tasting menu - 6 courses of goodness! My least favorite course was dessert (!) - only because I am not a huge chocolate fan, although the flourless chocolate cake was good. The accompanying home made coffee ice cream was heaven on a spoon. We both thought the salmon was cooked perfectly. Actually everything was delicious. We sat in the room adjacent to the kitchen and although it's a fairly open kitchen, it's also very quiet and seems to be well organized. Our food came out in nice order, no huge gaps between courses, and also the courses didn't come out too fast. We were able to enjoy each one.
Everyone who worked on our table was friendly and the owner, at least I think he may have been the owner, came over several times to see how we were liking our meal.
We wish them well and we will be going back.
Absolutely loved The Circle. How incredible to have world-class food right here in Newton, NJ! Can't wait to go back. Amazing food, good service in a lovely setting.
Another great meal here with great service. We started with Oysters to share the I had the roasted corn risotto, pork chop for my entree followed by the flourless chocolate cake and an espresso. All were excellent!
Top notch food! all farm fresh ingredients excellent presentation etc etc etc amazing experience!
This is my new favorite restaurant. My boyfriend and I chose the 6-course chef's tasting menu and each dish was a new and exciting experience. The flavors of the delicious food from course to course complemented each other so well, especially in the clean and cozy atmosphere surrounding us. The service was impeccable. Everyone was genuinely friendly and knowledgeable about each dish, which was so helpful. I plan on telling everyone about this place.
We LOVED The Circle. I took my sister to dinner there in celebration of her upcoming 50th birthday. We are both foodies - she a bit more of a foodie than me. The food was spectacular and we enjoyed trying things we had not had or made before. It was nice and quiet and the courses were leisurely and relaxed. What a wonderful night!
Great food. We did the chefs tasting menu. Everything was delicious. There ambiance was lacking and they didn’t do any outdoor dining despite it basically being the perfect weather night. It was almost empty but we were seated in a sparsely decorated room with no windows or view.
