This is an absolute hidden gem! The amazing ambiance, service, and not to mention 6-course chef’s menu for $100, you can’t beat it! I would highly recommend! It was worth the hour drive from PA for me! Definitely will be back!
food was excellent; nice portion size; staff very congenial; will certainly return
Fantastic-in every sense-from parking lot to paying the check-a scrumptious, joyous festival for the palate and Kennedy rocks!!
Service needs to be a bit more polished. The food is outstanding and as such, the prices charged are not for the faint of heart.
This restaurant consistently delivers! They have brought a little slice of quality NYC dining to Sussex County. Both Brendan and Tyler are talented chefs and very nice people on top of that! The staff is friendly and handle themselves in a professional manner while keeping it Sussex casual....a very enjoyable experience every time we have visited.
The menu is limited, but always has something for every person in our party so don't be put off by the 'limited' comment. The meats are cooked to the proper temperatures and spiced appropriately, the seafood is fresh and flavorful, and even our vegan friend said it was the best vegetable dish she had ever had (I'll take her word on it...lol!) They change up their menu so one does not get bored with the same entrees. I do miss the duck breast dish, which was coated with a rub that was out of this world and then cooked to crispy, moist perfection! Since it was removed, I have enjoyed every meal hence so am happy to go back again and again.
The bread is so good here, it will make any carb-phobic person question their choices in life. You have to have at least one slice, but choose wisely as they offer several different styles and flavors along with some delicately infused butter.
The pastas are fresh and paired with sauces that compliment each other better than Mac and Tosh (the Goofy Gophers of Warner Brothers / Bugs Bunny....look it up for anyone born after 1970)
Not really a dessert person so will hold judgement on that, but have indulged in the expresso ice cream which is a rich and creamy delight to the senses. It even feels good....
Couple this with being a BYOB and you have all the makings of a local gem.
The building is stylish and rural chic. It can get a little noisy if you are in the front room and they have a full house, but definitely worth the visit! Sincerely, Mayor Mike!
Best food in Western Jersey. The restaurant we’ve been waiting for out here. Very cool setup inside a house, with fresh ingredients and unique menu. We will be back every week!
Inventive food combinations, attentive and knowledgeable staff, friendly chefs -- this place is terrific (and it is BYO to boot!). We so needed a place like this in Sussex County!
This was our second special occasion dinner at The Circle and they did not disappoint! Impeccable quality ingredients, presentation and flavor profiles. The Circle is of the highest caliber restaurants—how fortunate to have it in our little corner of NJ! Thanks to our server, Kennedy, and her team for another fantastic experience!
We had a tasty meal on 8-20-21 and definitely will go back to try other menu items. Our server was Athena and she was friendly and knowledgeable regarding the menu items. We decided to try the tasting menu - 6 courses of goodness! My least favorite course was dessert (!) - only because I am not a huge chocolate fan, although the flourless chocolate cake was good. The accompanying home made coffee ice cream was heaven on a spoon. We both thought the salmon was cooked perfectly. Actually everything was delicious. We sat in the room adjacent to the kitchen and although it's a fairly open kitchen, it's also very quiet and seems to be well organized. Our food came out in nice order, no huge gaps between courses, and also the courses didn't come out too fast. We were able to enjoy each one.
Everyone who worked on our table was friendly and the owner, at least I think he may have been the owner, came over several times to see how we were liking our meal.
We wish them well and we will be going back.
Absolutely loved The Circle. How incredible to have world-class food right here in Newton, NJ! Can't wait to go back. Amazing food, good service in a lovely setting.
Another great meal here with great service. We started with Oysters to share the I had the roasted corn risotto, pork chop for my entree followed by the flourless chocolate cake and an espresso. All were excellent!
Top notch food! all farm fresh ingredients excellent presentation etc etc etc amazing experience!
This is my new favorite restaurant. My boyfriend and I chose the 6-course chef's tasting menu and each dish was a new and exciting experience. The flavors of the delicious food from course to course complemented each other so well, especially in the clean and cozy atmosphere surrounding us. The service was impeccable. Everyone was genuinely friendly and knowledgeable about each dish, which was so helpful. I plan on telling everyone about this place.
We LOVED The Circle. I took my sister to dinner there in celebration of her upcoming 50th birthday. We are both foodies - she a bit more of a foodie than me. The food was spectacular and we enjoyed trying things we had not had or made before. It was nice and quiet and the courses were leisurely and relaxed. What a wonderful night!
Great food. We did the chefs tasting menu. Everything was delicious. There ambiance was lacking and they didn’t do any outdoor dining despite it basically being the perfect weather night. It was almost empty but we were seated in a sparsely decorated room with no windows or view.
The food was good/great but nothing was exceptional. For appetizers, we got the red gem salad, the burrata, the oysters, and the foie gras…our favorite was the foie gras. Rich flavors which contrasted nicely with the peach purée. The patty pan squash agnolotti was delicious!! The hanger steak and the scallops were anticlimactic….best part of them was the chimichurri on the steak. The sorbet was surprisingly delightful but the peach trifle and semifreddo were lackluster. The portions are minuscule. This was the meal of two people!!! Honestly, found it to be overpriced. If the cuisine was a bit more elevated or the portions were bigger then the prices could be justified.
Our highlight was our server, Kennedy…she was EXCEPTIONAL. Attentive, friendly, honest, helpful. I would not go back for the food or the ambiance but I would go back for her.
We were very excited to try this restaurant and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious, our server was attentive and our bill was moderately priced. We will be back!
It was overall a great dining experience. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Incredible food and the chefs were able to accommodate tasting menus for both our dietary restrictions- one vegetarian and one gluten-free! hats off to Kennedy the server who was attentive and efficient, it was a wonderful experience.
Without umbrellas the deck was very hot and sunny. They accommodated us very well by setting up a table on the front patio.
Wait staff was attentive and friendly. The food was excellent and sourced form local vendors. We sat outside and the view was gorgeous. A great overall experience.
Really solid food - creative
It has been a few months now since the restaurant opening but the place still feels a bit not finished -bare windows and walls, very sparse decor and lamps that don't fit the place. We sat upstairs this time and the noise level in that room was a bit tough to deal with, although there were only four or five tables occupied. The food is still good and is the reason we would come back for but the menu is pretty much the same, so the best choice for me this time was pasta, which provided the seasonal variety I was looking for. Probably will wait for the change of season to come back.
Demonstrates the art of gourmet cooking. Imaginative, creative, every day at least one new experiment.
This might be the restaurant Sussex County has been waiting for and needs badly: really good food in a nice place. Yes, quite expensive for the area but you generally get what you pay for. Basically a very good Manhattan restaurant set down in a field. BYOB keeps the cost of the meal within reason. The only service glitch was taking away three of the four diners' plates while the fourth was still eating: a "no-no" that will hopefully be fixed.
Interesting, plentiful and delicious food.
Food was very good. Our server was very attentive. The recommendation was to have a multi-course meal; this was not what we expected, but we tried it. It drove up the bill and we over-ate. Overall I'd prefer more choice in selection and smaller portions if I were to go for a multi-course dinner again.
Excellent food and service, will definitely be returning
The food was amazing and the service was excellent. Would definitely recommend The Circle to everyone.
Food was excellent. Service spot on. Kennedy was fantastic.
Very upscale fine dining in rural NJ. Wish they could tone down the noise level.
Casually elegant with superb food. NYC caliber. BYOB makes it a real deal.
Portions not huge, but enough to satisfy with appetizer + pasta + entree.
Good veggie options.
An absutely perfect dining experience from start to finish. A welcoming staff of professionals began the evening, a knowledgeable and attentive waitress helped guide our choices and our meals were outstanding. Service flowed smoothly, never rushed but never slow. Salmon and scallop entrees were winners, flourless chocolate cake delicious. We can't wait to go back.
If you would like to experience the best of what the chef offers, come hungry and order the 6 course menu.
Lovely place. Nice staff. Food was amazing! Great menu and beautifully done. One of the best meals I’ve had on NJ. The skill of the chefs is very impressive. Wow. What a great way to spend our anniversary. Cheers!
Incredible. Excellent service and food. Great addition to this area. High-end cuisine in a warm and comfortable setting. BYO
We did not do the six course dinner but we will definitely do that next time. The oysters are some of the best I have ever had. The short ribs and morel pasta was exquisite. I have a dairy allergy and the chefs were more than accommodating. The only recommendation I would have is that the portion sizes were extremely small.
What a beautiful experience! We are so grateful to have such amazing culinary artists close by! Set in an historic farmhouse, this venue and its chefs do not disappoint! The chef’s tasting menu is to die for … make sure that you arrive hungry!
Everything was amazing. The best oysters! Portions are made smaller so order the 3 courses and it’s perfect!!
This is a god send to Sussex County. The food is exquisite, extraordinary techinque married with flavor combinations that soothe as they astound. Sunchoke soup - unexpected treasure! I cannot say enough - best food I've had outside NYC in 30 years. After three meals there I had the Chef's prefix 5 course offer - it did not disappoint - exceptional value and pleasure. May they (please) be here a very very long time - our county side is beautiful but until this opened it has been a food desert. Hurray!!!!
OMG! I can’t remember a meal that the 5 of us enjoyed more. Bravo to the chefs!!!! Sussex co. Inherited 2 great chefs!
