   First time there. Wife and I was celebrating 28 year Anniversary. We both got filets. The dessert of crème brûlée was the final touch.

   Being new to the area, retired on Lake Bob Sandlin. The Chophouse is a great place for outstanding service, exceptional service and great drinks. We visited with Debbie for a good 15 minutes, she was awesome. Gave us recommendations for a more casual evening, and drinks at the bar. There old fashions are to die for. Most definitely five stars 👍

   The food is top-notch, though for this part of the country most will find it to be a touch on the pricey side. That said, it is certainly within the realm of fair and would in no way be considered pricey in any big city (Dallas, Houston, etc.). If you're looking for a quiet chat with friends and family, the music can be a bit loud overall, but if you're just looking for a relaxing evening in a more open and fun atmosphere, you'll not notice at all. Great location & building, friendly staff, an overall great place to enjoy a meal.

   This was our 3rd visit to The Chophouse On Bankhead. We were seated quickly & the service was excellent! The appetizers were pretty good & the entrees were really good. For our appetizers, we had the Tempura Asparagus with a bacon hollandaise dipping sauce that was tasty. We also split a bowl of the Lobster Bisque that was good, but probably our least favorite item of the night. For our entrees, we had the Truffle Cream Linguini w/Chicken + added Seared Scallops on the side, as well as the Brazilian-style Churrasco Filet Trimmings w/Mashed Potatoes & Sautéed Asparagus. Everything was great, but the standouts here were the Seared Scallops, the Churrasco Filet Trimmings & the Mashed Potatoes, which were some of the best we've ever had. We finished off with some Crème Brûlée, and it was prepared just right... not too much caramelized sugar on top that kept it at a light crunch rather than a thick plate glass ceiling to break through. Did I mention the service was fantastic? We had a great time & we're sure to visit again!

    We each had a steak, and although they were different from each other, they were both excellent. The flavor and finish were terrific, and the sides were excellent, as well. We also had a bottle of one of our favorite reds, and it never fails to deliver. The flourless chocolate cake is killer - the perfect ending to a truly delightful dining experience. Ralph R.

    The staff was incredibly accommodating and eager to please. There were two of us and we typically order multiple items and share so we an opportunity to sample a variety of dishes. This was no exception and we ordered the truffle fries, shrimp cocktail, sea bass and rib eye. Everything was delicious except the rib eye. Due to the name of the restaurant, we expected the rib eye to be a high quality cut of meat and to be cooked appropriately. In fact, we were hesitant to order the sea bass but thought we would give it a try and it was fantastic even though I would have personally preferred some other sauce. Unfortunately, we found the rib eye to be a subpar very thin cut of meat that was equivalent to what my sister recently got at a Chili’s restaurant in!Dallas. And we order it cooked medium but it was very charred on one side - so much so, that was the only flavor that could be tasted so we asked for A-1 to mask the “burned” taste and didn’t eat the majority of it. My hope is this feedback is helpful and that maybe our experience with the steak was a one-off. We will definitely give it a try again. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would love to see a local restaurant with such a friendly staff do well.

    The Chop House is my favorite place to dine in Mount Vernon. Food is always prepared perfectly and staff is nice and friendly. The menu doesn’t disappoint and drinks are made well. We enjoyed our 17th Anniversary there and will continue to come back as much as possible!

    Excellent meal with exceptional service. The appetizers were perfectly prepared, my steak was well prepared and tasted great. The desserts were really good as well. The service and the atmosphere was friendly, prompt, and amazing. Everyone from the waitress to the manager and all the way up to the owner made a point of visiting the table and checking on our meal and our level of satisfaction. My only complaint, if I had to find a negative, would be the limited beer selection. Their bar is well stocked with premium liquors and their wine selection is good (according to my wife), but the beer selection is limited. Adding a few craft beers (Texas beers in particular) would make this a perfect restaurant. We will certainly be back and have no hesitation in giving it a 5 star recommendation.

    My review on 02/17/2022 was made in haste, without taking into consideration the challenges involved in hosting a special event, and unequivocally recommend The Chophouse! My apology to this establishment. Never imagined I'd be writing such an average review, but we were really looking forward to this Valentine's Dinner at The Chophouse, and this time it simply did not rise to the occasion. Having dined here numerous times I had no hesitation in booking for the Valentine's meal. Disappointed we were seated adjacent to the kitchen and the area where the servers pick up the plated food, it's essentially a wide hallway between the dining room and bar, rather loud from both the kitchen activities and the servers making their way to and from customer tables. As for service, we were also disappointed to find out our preferred server wouldn't be taking care of us. We understood this was a busy night, but our server was splitting time between the bar area and our table, resulting in very slow and infrequent service, something we're not accustomed to here. Before ordering, we were informed the lobster bisque wasn't available, so they accommodated by adding lobster to the tomato basil soup, which was okay. Both our orders were wrong, the filet mignons weren't prepared according to order, my wife's had to go back, and I chose to eat the steak how it was delivered, and there was an upcharge of $3.00/filet we knew nothing about. The side dish I ordered wasn't delivered with the food, received a baked potato instead of sautéed spinach, but they did bring it out to me. We know The Chophouse is pricey, but don't mind paying for good food and service, which is why we frequent here, but was taken back when the bill and tip ending up being $400.00, but it's okay, because my wife is worth it. In closing, we understood going in this would be a busy night, but it just didn't meet our expectations this time. We'll give it another try in the future, but it may be awhile.

    This was our first opportunity to dine at The Chophouse and we will definitely return on our next visit to the area. Everything about our experience was perfect. The service was welcoming, friendly and very efficient. We felt like we were a guest in their home. The ambiance was delightful and comfortable with a lively bar and patio area at the bake of the restaurant and dining in the front. It was a quiet Monday evening and we largely had the dining room to ourselves. Our food was excellent. Each of us had something different and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. The truffle French Fries and Death by Chocolate cake were particular stand-outs. Our steaks were delicious. The Chophouse is an unexpected find in a delightful small town in Texas. It's well worth a visit!
