The Chophouse - at Manchebo
FEATURING Local Night on Saturday and Lobster Night on Monday but off course also our delicious a la Carte menu
Always an enjoyable experience, delicious food, and great service (Harold, best waiter).
Better than average food. Just not 5 star. Excellent service by Alex. Definitely recommend this place
Wonderful birthday celebration! Staff was wonderful, food was excellent and what a beautiful resort! Recommend!
Alex was the best of the best waiters we have experienced. Most attentive and personable.
My wife and I went to the Chophouse at Manchebo while staying at the Bucuti and Tara (next door to the Manchebo). We ended up making a reservation, but I think we were very early birds, as it took a while before others started coming into the restaurant.
That said, we came there because of an Early Bird special we saw online, where you got a starter, entree, and dessert with coffee or tea for $35. That seemed like an attractive option to us, so we went. However, when we arrived and were offered the menu, we did not see the special advertised anywhere on the menu. When we asked our server about it, he brought over the early bird menu that was what we saw online. My first thought was that, had we not known to ask about the special beforehand, we would never have been informed of it, which left a somewhat bad taste in our mouths.
So, we had our food (both of us had cheese ravioli and apple streudel for dessert, but I had the house salad, and my spouse had a Caesar salad), which we agreed was good, as was the complimentary bread. The only thing we noticed is that the Caesar salad did not have croutons, which seemed very strange, since that's one of the main ingredients.
For ambiance, the setting was elegant and quiet, and the restaurant had only indoor seating, which was fine with us after a long day outside, but we know others in Aruba prefer outdoor seating. Our waiter was also very good and attentive, but we were also one of the only tables in the restaurant for most of our meal.
Overall, we thought it was an okay-to-decent dining experience but thought there were better options for the price, so we did not return.
Need a better wine list.
Great food. Great service. Piano music I love during dinner. Great wine selection. Highly recommend.
Calamari was way overfried, sauce was good. Wife’s filet was cooked medium as asked and good, my ribeye was a flat well done piece of meat, although supposed to be medium as well.
Desserts stale and flavorless but workers very nice as is the norm for the resort.
Anniversary! Special table with great food and service.
Very nice meal for Mother’s Day!. Very nice waiter. Meal service was slow.
VERY GOOD!! A NIGHT EVERY YEAR! FOOD IS ALWAYS OUTSTANDING
The best restaurant
The food was mediocre at best. Cauliflower au gratin was cauliflower sitting in a pool of seasoned milk (no I’m not kidding).
Steak was pretty descent tho no seasoning and was basic so ok. Service was poor and we were only 1 of 5 tables in the entire place (that should have been a hint) so no excuse there
Lovely restaurant at Manchebo Beach Resort & Spa.
Service was a little slower than usual and our waiter forgot one of our appetizers. Quality of the food is very good, the piano music is loud, difficult to carry on a conversation.
Amazing food, service, and ambiance. We always enjoy coming back to Manchebo Bay and dining at The Chophouse. Staff at Manchebo are always professional but friendly. Steaks are always cooked to perfection! We have been to Aruba the last three years and dine at The Chophouse at least 3 days out of our week stay!
We had three dinners at The Chophouse while vacationing this past week because we so enjoyed this restaurant. The “Alkaline Salad” consisting of quinoa, spinach, and grilled portobello mushrooms in a cilantro dressing is creative and absolutely delicious. The filet mignon was fabulous as were the side ordered vegetables - grilled asparagus and glazed carrots. The Lemon Drop Martinis were very tasty. I found two entrees less than satisfactory: the chicken was dry and the ravioli was in my opinion bland. The waiter noticed I hadn’t eaten much of the chicken, told the restaurant manager who apologized and removed it from the bill. It happens and I understand chicken is not their specialty. The other waiter did not notice that I ate little of the raviolis and since I feel it was a matter of taste rather than that something was wrong with the dish I did consider complaining. Again, the place is called The Chophouse and the meat dishes, appetizers, and cocktails are outstanding. Go and indulge in their meaty entrees. You’ll be happy you did.
Fantastic! Staying at Manchebo Beach Resort and made a reservation at the onsite steak restaurant primarily for convenience. It ended with us enjoying a magnificent filet mignon dinner. Everything was cooked to perfection including the side dishes (grilled asparagus and Brussels sprouts). The service was wonderful. Good wine selection and assortment of special martinis. Too full for dessert but the menu looked tempting. Other than it being a Monday not sure why this place wasn’t packed - but that was fine for us since we don’t like crowds.
Great service.Great food.Lovely atmosphere. The early bird meal was a great value and quality.Top shelf
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at The Chophouse. My husband said his steak was delicious and he promptly announced to me that the mashed potatoes were the best he had ever eaten...and trust me, he eats A LOT of mashed potatoes! My almond encrusted grouper was out of this world and the chocolate mousse cake for dessert was delicious as well. It was convenient to our hotel, Bucuti and Tara, had a pleasant ambiance, and was not overpriced. We will definitely return.
The ambience was very nice & romantic.the Encrusted grouper was delicious..A little surprised at their chimichuri sauce on the steak, it was not as tasty as it should have been! The sauce should be made with parsley, olive oil & garlic & should be broiled on top of the meat, not on the side! It was all parsley, not chimichuri sauce!
Otherwise a good meal! They need to work on their Caeser dressing, just ok!
Excellent food. Great service
Had a wonderful dinner I had a steak which was delicious and my husband had the tuna which was excellent. Staff was excellent friendly, fast service will be coming back on our next trip to Aruba
outstanding food, very good menu choices and attentive service.
Food extremely uneven. Some dishes brilliant, others inedible. The (1) bread with butter/garlic/paprika outstanding; (2) mushroom ravioli outstanding; (3) local aruba appetizer minced chicken outstanding; (4) signature filet mignon at medium rare, tough, chewy, tasteless; (5) lobster bisque fishy, salty; (6) lobster tails slightly overdone, slightly chewy, uninspired. Would not recommend at all. Five-star prices at very uneven execution.
Amazing dinner. At our table steak, Aruban stew (yum) and veal chop. Very good-highly recommended
Our first time there. Service was excellent. We both had small filet mignon - perfect size. Will definitely return.
Just ok - calamari was ok and our medium-rare steaks were more like medium.
Very nice and quiet restaurant. Excellent food and service. Lobster night is outstanding.
The Ambiance is perfect In this restaurant with a live piano player and delicious food. The food presentation looks
Like it out of a magazine.
We are always so happy to be greeted by Michaeland Harold. The two of them treat every guest like family and the restaurant like it is theirs. After trying several restaurants in Aruba this is always our favorite.
We will definitely be back again.
Went for Lobster night and was totally delighted with the choices and prices. (My husband, who is not a lobster lover, ordered off the regular menu). I ordered the Lobster Bisque which was totally dreamy. Waitress had told me it was just a small cupful, but it was hardly that. Came in an elegant slanted bowl and was a pretty substantial portion. Also ordered the 7 oz. grilled lobster tail ($35 and well worth it!) and it was prepared to perfection.
Went for our last night, as it was walkable and we enjoy the atmosphere w/ piano player and calm lighting. We had the most fabulous bottle of Cabernet--Carnivor--and the Beef Tetaki for an appetizer--it was fantastic. My mom had 2 appetizers because she felt like picking--the caprese and the ravioli--both were delicious. I decided to try the almond grouper (yes, I know it's a steakhouse but I already had the steak and I was in the mood for fish) and wow!! Had a coconut-ginger sauce and was even better than I'd expected. The staff is LOVELY and the ambiance is mellow and upscale. Great for a romantic dinner, too.
My Husband had the Veal chop and said it was delicious. I had Almond coated grouper and it was yummy.
Mojitos are the best ever.
Waiter was very knowledgeable and nice.
We go to the Chop House every year.
We were on vacation and made a last minute reservation at Chop House. We went on a Monday so we missed the piano player we read so much about on the reviews. We wondered why they didn’t play a recording of the piano played so we too can hear it but they didn’t. Two of us had the rib eye one had the filet another had the chicken dish and I had the lobster special.
They were all delicious although I wish I had gotten the rib eye instead of the lobster because the lobster was just average. For starters we had a delicious caeser salad and caprese salad. Both were excellent. Portions were not very large but we felt wee perfectly proportioned.
We will define back.
Service was great, food was just average. High end prices need to deliver high end dining experiences. With so many great restaurants on Aruba, if you want top prices, you must meet the challenge.
A wonderful dinner. The caprese was excellent with some of the best balsamic glaze I have had. Lovely live piano music makes it so elegant. The steaks were cooked perfectly and the Sancerre was delightful. Harold was amazing... he ran about and fussed over us for my mom’s birthday and helped make the evening perfect!
Terrible service!! They had a special for Valentines Day- but we had to ask for everything included in it!! Like the waitress didn’t have a clue!! One person ordered a filet - medium- it can out blue/ red!! Then my meal just didn’t even come out- the server asked me”so you’re not eating?! Should I bring you a plate to share??” I replied- no I ordered a meal- so my dinner came out like 15 minutes later!! They never checked to see how our meals were!! Had to ask for coffee & dessert that was included in the special!! Also had to ask for the ‘rose’ included too!! We come every year to Aruba for 2-3 weeks, and their are plenty of great restaurants!! Not this one!! Avoid this one!! Not worth the aggravation on a vacation!!
I understand it was valentines day so it was busy and loud. Our waitress wasnt very good or friendly. Fish was ok and the lobster roll was terrible. Wine was good along with dessert. I will still go back but on a less busy day. Staff in general are very nice and piano player was great
