   Tonight was not typical of our experience at Chop House. Two seafood entrees came out and were getting cold while we waited for two beef entrees. The halibut, which I ordered underdone, was very overcooked, the beef medallions were not cooked to order and had little to no flavor of Boursin cheese topping. The most prominent item on the plate was a large pile of very salty fried onion rings. It was so out of proportion to the beef. And finally, as poorly prepared as my halibut was, I was reluctant to send it back because I had just sent the bottle of wine back. We asked for their driest white and it was very sweet. So we went with a white we knew. We were celebrating a birthday, which I told them in Yelp and again at the table. I thought they had a complimentary birthday dessert but apparently I was wrong about that. So we ordered two desserts to go. I’m sorry to say we were disappointed in the grand marnier whipped cream on the chocolate mousse. There was no hint of grand marnier. The chocolate mousse was excellent. Having spent almost $300 for a party of four I expected better. A final thought, it is very common for a server to pour a taste of wine when you order a bottle to be sure it is what you expected out that the bottle is good. Unfortunately our server poured three full glasses before we had a chance to taste the wine and send it back. As a result, they lost the whole bottle that we sent back and then she did it again with a new bottle, which of course we kept because it was dry. It makes me wonder if chophouse has had a lot of turnover and they’re still catching up on training both in the kitchen and in service

   My first time to sit in a booth near the bar for lunch. I enjoyed everything about it.

   Chop House is always good. Great food and service EXCEPT bar service is SLOW. AC is too cold for me. Excellent for a frost or snow.

   The hostesses at the check-in desk are consistently pleasant and welcoming. It is so refreshing. We were running a little late. They reassured us that it was not problem. JoJo was our server. She was professional and efficient. The food was excellent as usual. I highly recommend.

   My guys liked their dinners. I was a little bit disappointed in mine. I ordered the special…it was medallions with blue cheese and a red wine reduction. I know food pretty well and it did not taste like a red wine reduction at all, it tasted more like a balsamic vinegar reduction. And there was maybe a half of a teaspoon of the blue cheese butter on top of each of the two small medallions… The small portions were very disappointing honestly. Service was absolutely great though! I wish I could remember the gal’s name, but she was very attentive and friendly.

   I have to be honest. Service is usually top notch and I reflect that in my reviews. Today was not at that level. The restaurant was very busy due to the holiday, and it appeared that there was not enough staff for the number of customers. I know from numerous past experiences that this is the exception and not the norm.

    A little slow compared to normal (we eat there 1-2 times a month after church), likely due to Easter. I made a point of asking two weeks ago if there was something special and/or was the regular lunch menu available. When we were not given the lunch menu I asked and was told it was available upon request, which we did. There was also an issue with the water (the replacement was fine so I have to assume the pitchers were dirty?) Food was good as usual.
