The Choice - B.Y.O.B
Excellent every time.
What a neighborhood gem in the heart of Bryn Mawr!
Thank you for choosing Bryn Mawr.
Very good. Not my favorite place, but definitely worth going to. A fun evening out / good place for a small group.
Always excellent. So thankful to have been able to celebrate Mothers Day with my favorite people at my favorite restaurant. An impeccable dining and service experience. Thank you.
Everything is better than good on the menu.
Would we recommend this restaurant to a friend? Yes, with a couple of reservations.
The positives: I made a 2-hour mistake on the time for our reservation for two, which was the evening before Mothers Day. That said, the restaurant was able to give us a table right away. Both our dinners were relaxed, well prepared, and marvelously 5-star good.
The negatives: We have had dinner at the Choice four times. On this occasion we were somewhat surprised to see a 3% surcharge on the menu for credit or debit cards that was added a couple of months ago, according to the wait person. Why the penalty? Our "senior" server said that this discouraged splitting bills on credit cards (she specifically mentioned up to six), complaining that it was confusing and took much time and trouble. (Note- I don't think the wait staff and kitchen see this 3% time-and-trouble in their tips.) I told her that the 3% was not mentioned on Open Table, and she said clearly it was (there are no references mentioned on Open Table or Yelp or on Choice's website). I asked our wait person to communicate my comment to management, but got no confidence it would be passed on- "I can't do anything about it" was the response.
Sure, 3% isn't onerous, but it made me feel that courtesy isn't in management's thinking. Rather, they communicate their business model is more like buying gas at a service station and not the fine restaurant it is, and imply it's a way of increasing revenues. Really- better optics suggest adding it to the menu rather than surprising customers who are not hurting financially, but who don't like nickel-diming.
With dinner x 2 costing $$$, cards are easier and more efficient forth carrying a lot of cash for single or split transactions. Stop penalizing customers for the sins of a few- how many split a check 6 ways on credit cards any way? Not many. Will we return? Yes... with 100 $1.00 bills for dinner. The wait staff and management will love it!
Excellent food, beautiful presentation, good service - a very enjoyable evening.
Fun way to celebrate a graduation! Food was very good (almost too many ‘choices’!) And, loved that it was BYOB. Will definitely keep The Choice in mind when we’re back in the area! Thanks for a fun memorable evening from a family of ‘foodies’!
The imaginative food prep was well-received by all 10 of us. The service was mediocre - had to request dinner course for one of my guests.
A really good neighborhood restaurant that’s not in my neighborhood but I drive 45 minutes to go there.
A friendly staff, large menu selection and very good food. Bring good wine, the food is worth it.
small and tight place on route 30 in Bryn Mawr. Fairly noisy but that seems to be the trend these days. However, food was quite good with an eclectic menu. I had bee short rib which was excellent, someone I was with had duck I'd like to try. Also has interesting menu items such as stuffed quail. Overall service was good, would definitely return.
Our new favorite restaurant! Outstanding meal from appetizer (scallops in phyllo dough) to lamb chop and halibut entrees. Could not have been better!!!
Great novel sashimi and carpaccio dishes. Food is beautifully presented and excellent throughout.
We have visited The Choice on more than one occasion. Food is amazing and the team is just perfect. We love going there and look fwd on our next visit.
Had the halibut special at the suggestion of our server and it was fantastic. The food is always delicious and service is excellent. We love that it is BYOB, too.
Food is amazing!
This is one of the best BYOBs on the Main Line. We last went as a group of 4 people and ordered 11 different dishes off the menu, all were excellent. We especially loved the Soft Shell Crabs, Lobster Ceviche, Scallops wrapped in Filo Dough and the Veal Tomahawk. The service was attentive and the food presentation is especially nice! I highly recommend this restaurant!
Exceeded expectations and we cannot wait to visit again!
Best fine cuisine on the main line. Everything was perfectly cooked and very original!
Every single thing we got to eat was fantastic.
Fabulous meal. Incredible menu for such a small place. Lucky we were with good friends since the kitchen was slow for a Friday night. The chef sent out a delicious app to acknowledge the delay. Overall a great meal. We will be back. They should change the name to “Choices “
Perfect from A to Z
Lovely dinner as usual. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Love that we have this caliber of restaurant minutes from home!
Food was delicious. Presentation spectacular. Attentive service.
The increased menu is full of wonderfully prepared and unusual dishes. . We had a wonderful Halibut, excellent Squid carpaccio, wonderful Venison chops - seared to perfection, great crusted scallops- every dish a work of art. By far the best restaurant anywhere n the Main Line-
Always try the Halibut!
food was all great but the service was slow and disjointed. Apparently they were short a server and it showed. Still worth the visit for the food.
Excellent food at very reasonable prices.
We enjoyed the food, atmosphere and service very much! We are looking forward to returning again!
Delightful, delicious and beautiful meal.
The halibut was so fresh and absolutely wonderful, with lovely,
colorful garnishes. I can't wait to return for my next meal!
Everything was fabulous! The service, presentation and THE FOOD...WOW! My husband had the waygu beef...it literally melted in our mouths! I had the grilled lobster with veggies...amazing. The octopus appetizer is beyond delish...just as good, if not better due to the prep, as I have gotten in Santorini! Our second visit and we already made another reservation! Love how varied the menu is!
Wonderful food!! Well prepared. Great flavors with some different herb and spice combinations that are really delicious and well-thought out. Don’t miss it!!
The Choice is very good for a local BYOB. The newest change, charging 3% for credit card use, is ridiculous. Either slightly raise the prices, or forget it. The menu needs to have some change over time.
Lamb chops and short ribs werr incredible! The sauces were delicious, and the service was impeccable. I would definitely go again and recommend it!
Great service and good food. BYOB.
I would a give this restaurant 5 stars on food and service if the portions were larger, you did not have to pay $7 for your vegetables, and they served a good bread instead of "bread chips". As it was, I went home and made something to eat because the smallest branzino in the ocean was not enough food for me.
We have dined here twice and both times we had excellent meals. Highly recommended
We went to Choice for Valentine's Day dinner. we arrived on time and were seated promptly. The restaurant was about 3/4 full. Our waitress came to ask if we had any questions about 15 minutes after we were seated. We said no and asked for champagne glasses. It was a long wait before the arrived. As we looked over the menu there seemed to be lots of interesting items. My wife ordered the seafood soup for an appetizer. It was hot and tasty though the seafood itself was overcooked. It was also a little too salty. For our main courses, we had Duck and one of the many kinds of seafood dishes the fish was very bland and tasteless. The duck was overcooked and slightly tough. Prices are on the high side for the quality we received. I server did not come back to the table until we had finished our meal. All in all a lackluster experience.
Fabulous lunch. Great menu and everything was delicious. But we were the only customers in the restaurant - probably more fun to go for dinner!
