The Choice - B.Y.O.B
2nd visit in a month and plenty of new menu items-the kitchen is active. Excellent food-probably the best BYOB on the Main Line.
First time we had dined here. Went with two other couples, so six of us in all. Everyone had a great meal. The presentation was exceptional! lots of pics taken. our server was excellent. A bit pricey but can't say that it wasn't worth it - just not a place you want to take the kids.
Good was excellent service satisfactory BYOB aspect nice for location. Prices a little steep
Don't walk, run and grab a reservation at one of our favorite restaurants. The food, service, and ambience is great. We love it and we believe you will, too.
Excellent food. Josh the waiter and the staff were great. Glad we went.
Never disappoints! Outstanding food and service!
We love The Choice. Our experience at this restaurant was exemplary. The service, excellent, food, incredible, ambience, perfect. The oysters, halibut, salmon, salads, and dessert were perfect. Do yourself a favor and try The Choice, you'll be glad you did.
Very pleasant, great service and food. Very accommodating to our wishes etc
The restaurant is popular. They charge extra for sides like vegetables and for using a credit card, which I don't like. There is a good selection of appetizers and main courses and also a menu of specials. We had the raw oysters for our appetizer and they were large and tasty. We both ordered fish for a main course. There are a lot of fish choices. My sea bass was prepared in an unusual way, and I think I prefer it plain. For dessert, the molten chocolate with ice cream was delicious.
Food was very good but expensive. The room was not full but it was very noisy.
The striped bass with leeks was delicious!!! The service was great. The food came out quickly and I enjoyed the experience.
Our dinner was delicious!! Everything we ate, we loved!!! My only complaint was that the meals do not come with any sides - as such, my miso cod was just the fish and I had to purchase separately the sauteed broccoli. My feeling is that each entree should come with at least one side (be it a starch or a vegetable). This is not a steak house - and that is a common theme at steak houses but this is not expected at a local dining establishment. The cost for each entree is reasonable but adding in a side order of broccoli or brussles sprouts etc made the meal much more expensive than I would have liked. That alone is is the reason I would think twice about returning.
My favorite on the Main Line!!
Great varied and interesting menu for all - vegetable, meat, fish options. Food and presentation were well executed. Excellent service.
The Choice is a neighborhood gem: a tasteful, warm and friendly restaurant putting out consistently wonderful, subtle food.
Excellent creative food and lovely service First rate meal. BYOB too.
The best food on the Main Line.
Drop what you are doing and make a reservation! Food is stellar! Second time there and somehow it was even better than the first time. If you are not good at making decisions, this is NOT the menu for you. Just ask the owner, Irena, what to order. Her love of the food selections is obvious and she is spot on. The scallop appetizer (the second time we ordered it based on Irena's suggestion) is simply delicious. The seafood soup... so tasty. And my wife and I shared the flounder entré... more than large enough for two to share...was perfect! The seasonings on every dish are unusual and mouth watering. EVERYTHING on the menu is exciting! Can't wait to go back and try something else.
As always, we were promptly seated and given menus. Our appetizers arrived quickly and they were beautifully arranged and delicious! The fois gras was excellent and the heirloom salad was perfect.
We finished with a chocolate cake/ice cream and a creme brûlée, both of which were fabulous. The
service was A+ throughout the meal. Our only complaint would be the noise level which can be quite loud.
Delicious food. beautiful presentations, and outstanding service
As an appetizer, I ordered the special which was Lobster Ceviche in an Oyster Shell
It was unusual and tasted fresh and so very good.
Our server recommended the Duck Breast with mushrooms which was prepared to order , I
loved it !
Of course I can't wait to go back as there were so many wonderful looking plates coming out
of the kitchen.
Best BYOB in Bryn Mawr.
Had lunch it quiet restaurant and the food was extremely good attentive service the salad and the bread the espresso and the crème brûlée were absolutely delicious. We will return for dinner one day
The food choices and presentations were super interesting to us. I have a dairy problem and they were able to make one of the dishes dairy free - so accommodating! We definitely want to go back and try more! We had the octopus, salmon tartare and tuna tartare for apps. Our table of four shared the shrimp salad. Our entree were the flounder, halibut (special) and two of the red snapper (one had cream in it the other did not). So delicious we can’t wait to go back!
Great Soft Shell Crab appetizer, as was the Octopus. Lobster Salad with large chunks of lobster and a very delicately made whole Bronzino. Every dish was excellent.
Excellent every time.
What a neighborhood gem in the heart of Bryn Mawr!
Thank you for choosing Bryn Mawr.
Very good. Not my favorite place, but definitely worth going to. A fun evening out / good place for a small group.
Always excellent. So thankful to have been able to celebrate Mothers Day with my favorite people at my favorite restaurant. An impeccable dining and service experience. Thank you.
Everything is better than good on the menu.
Would we recommend this restaurant to a friend? Yes, with a couple of reservations.
The positives: I made a 2-hour mistake on the time for our reservation for two, which was the evening before Mothers Day. That said, the restaurant was able to give us a table right away. Both our dinners were relaxed, well prepared, and marvelously 5-star good.
The negatives: We have had dinner at the Choice four times. On this occasion we were somewhat surprised to see a 3% surcharge on the menu for credit or debit cards that was added a couple of months ago, according to the wait person. Why the penalty? Our "senior" server said that this discouraged splitting bills on credit cards (she specifically mentioned up to six), complaining that it was confusing and took much time and trouble. (Note- I don't think the wait staff and kitchen see this 3% time-and-trouble in their tips.) I told her that the 3% was not mentioned on Open Table, and she said clearly it was (there are no references mentioned on Open Table or Yelp or on Choice's website). I asked our wait person to communicate my comment to management, but got no confidence it would be passed on- "I can't do anything about it" was the response.
Sure, 3% isn't onerous, but it made me feel that courtesy isn't in management's thinking. Rather, they communicate their business model is more like buying gas at a service station and not the fine restaurant it is, and imply it's a way of increasing revenues. Really- better optics suggest adding it to the menu rather than surprising customers who are not hurting financially, but who don't like nickel-diming.
With dinner x 2 costing $$$, cards are easier and more efficient forth carrying a lot of cash for single or split transactions. Stop penalizing customers for the sins of a few- how many split a check 6 ways on credit cards any way? Not many. Will we return? Yes... with 100 $1.00 bills for dinner. The wait staff and management will love it!
Excellent food, beautiful presentation, good service - a very enjoyable evening.
Fun way to celebrate a graduation! Food was very good (almost too many ‘choices’!) And, loved that it was BYOB. Will definitely keep The Choice in mind when we’re back in the area! Thanks for a fun memorable evening from a family of ‘foodies’!
The imaginative food prep was well-received by all 10 of us. The service was mediocre - had to request dinner course for one of my guests.
A really good neighborhood restaurant that’s not in my neighborhood but I drive 45 minutes to go there.
A friendly staff, large menu selection and very good food. Bring good wine, the food is worth it.
small and tight place on route 30 in Bryn Mawr. Fairly noisy but that seems to be the trend these days. However, food was quite good with an eclectic menu. I had bee short rib which was excellent, someone I was with had duck I'd like to try. Also has interesting menu items such as stuffed quail. Overall service was good, would definitely return.
Our new favorite restaurant! Outstanding meal from appetizer (scallops in phyllo dough) to lamb chop and halibut entrees. Could not have been better!!!
Great novel sashimi and carpaccio dishes. Food is beautifully presented and excellent throughout.
We have visited The Choice on more than one occasion. Food is amazing and the team is just perfect. We love going there and look fwd on our next visit.
Had the halibut special at the suggestion of our server and it was fantastic. The food is always delicious and service is excellent. We love that it is BYOB, too.
